"We might have caught a bit too much attention and from now on it'll be best to go to the fight club only occasionally for big fights, and also alone. We can't be going around in a group like this anymore, and we have to be more careful, for the sake of the Outlaw Gang that we are all a part of," Xavier said to his three companions as they made their way back, in the middle of the night.
"I haven't even..." Sam tried to refute, but before he could finish, the Unstoppable Trio jumped in and interrupted him.
"Yes, you have. Now, whether you like it or not, you are one of us, and it's clear as day that you've already made up your mind about joining."
Sam sighed and didn't bother arguing, but they could all tell that they were right.
From how motivated and invested he had been the past week, how could he not be planning on joining them?
And after walking away from the fight club for a while and feeling confident that they weren't being watched, followed, or tracked in any way, they called for a taxi and headed back to the dojo.
Unexpectedly, even Sam went back to the dojo with them, and as soon as they got inside, Sam, Xavier and Connor all fell onto the mats and went to sleep, too fatigued to find somewhere comfortable to sleep.
And Achara didn't do much better, barely making it to the back of the dojo where she lived, and after staggering inside, she collapsed onto her bed and almost instantly fell asleep.
-
After their tough training throughout the day and the fights they had fought in the fight club, they were all very drained, and even though Xavier hadn't fought, he was still training with them and required plenty of rest to aid his Rapid Recovery.
But sadly for the four of them, they were running a dojo, and waking up, Xavier woke the rest of them up and got them all to eat and get ready for another busy day.
And surprisingly, despite all they had endured the previous day, they were energetic and motivated, and their performance the entire day was just as good, or even better than the previous day.
Even Achara, who had been injured the most in her match the night before, was doing well and the dojo was also faring nicely despite it only being opened recently.
They would have multiple sessions daily for different age groups and had many new people signing up, as well as many consistent individuals training with them.
But there was something still bothering Xavier.
No matter how he looked at it, the growth of those around him was unnatural, and even if they were talented, such rapid progress was unheard of.
And there was only one thing he could think of that might be able to explain it.
'Is it you? The reason why they are able to develop so quickly?' he asked the system that had been quiet for a while.
[Yes and no] was the plain answer the robotic voice gave him.
'Meaning...?'
[Meaning, that you picked quite a few decent individuals, and your charisma and ambition have caused them to work hard. But, at the same time, without the system, their progress would be nowhere near as quick no matter how hard they worked.]
'So it is you?'
[A big part of it is the system, but the system merely helps them reach their full potential at a faster pace and you should give yourself some props. Your choice of members is pretty good and, of course, you must make sure to be the greatest out of them all. Otherwise...]
'What?! Someone else could be given the system instead of me?!' he exclaimed internally.
[Well, no. But if you were to die, there'd be nothing stopping the system from finding a new host to become the greatest gangster.]
Xavier let out a sigh of relief.
'I'm not planning on dying anytime soon, so get used to me being the host. And have you got any missions for me?'
[Mission Issued: Crush the two small gangs growing in the nearby area within a week. They go by the names: 'The Armed Crooks' and ' The Cobalt Crew'.]
'What's with these weird names?'
[Don't ask me and that doesn't matter either. Each is slightly larger than the previous Black Hand Gang you faced, and you can also expect them to be more challenging to take down. They won't be caught off guard like the Black Hand Gang were, and if not for the fact they weren't prepared and had drunk quite heavily, it would have been impossible for you to take them on alone.]
[Because of that, the reward for successful completion of the mission is Quick Drawing.]
'Quick Drawing? Isn't this a gangster system, not an artist system?' he asked reflexively.
[Drawing coming from the word withdrawing. Quick Drawing will improve how quickly you can draw your weapon] the system clarified.
Hearing that, he had a wry smile on his face as he scratched his head and realised his silly mistake.
'Speaking of weapons, we need to get our hands on some and it'll be very naive of me to think that other gangs won't have knives and pistols, at the very least. And for a large gang like the Wolf Gang, assault rifles are common,' he thought to himself.
'Also, system, are you able to increase the progress speed of all members of the Outlaw Gang, even new members?' Xavier asked.
[Yes, but the speed and how capable they can become depends on how determined, ambitious and naturally talented they are.]
-
With that, Xavier was eager to start recruiting more members and watch them grow, while he also couldn't afford to lag behind and needed to start working even harder.
And with two small gangs to take down as per the system's mission, it was time for the Outlaw Gang to start to make a name for itself.
-
After their day in the dojo was over, Connor went to pick up his sisters and take them home, wanting to spend some time with them and also not burden Xavier's mother with them for too long.
Meanwhile, Achara and Sam continued training, leaving Xavier to contact the group of fighters from the Wild Dog Fight Club who wanted to join them.
And knowing that the system would increase their improvement speed, he was eager to see just how quickly the Outlaw Gang could develop...
