Aki's eyes were only growing more narrow as his smile widened. He didn't seem to care about the battle at all. He only had eyes for Sylas, who was standing right before him with his back to him.

Sylas was completely ignoring him as though he wasn't even there.

If Sylas was locked in combat and just couldn't manage to spare him a glance, that would be one thing. But to think that Sylas would be standing right in front of the Great Priest's corpse, and right beneath the golem Aki stood on, and not even look his way a single time...

A chuckle came out in a lower, more bass-filled tone than he would usually use.

"I've changed my mind, Aki boy... kill them all."

Alex had just retreated from beneath the chimera's wing when a dark pressure flooded out in all directions, sending him flying into one of the golems. Even Sylas, who was a ways away now, was forced to take a step back.

ROAR!

Sylas' vision went blank. By the time he could see again, the chimera was already upon Cole.

The Twin Moon Healer cast <Twin Moon Radiance> subconsciously, causing a bright and golden barrier to appear around him. But it only lasted for a moment before he was sent flying into the distance.

The barrier shattered, and Cole crashed into a marble wall so heavily that his entire body seemed to deform. Blood flew from his mouth and his sword clattered from his hand.

The Rotten Chimera crouched as though it was about to go in for the finishing blow, but tendrils of darkness appeared from its shadows and wrapped it up.

Furious, the chimera shattered them apart with a single thought before pivoting toward Alex. Sylas shot forward, realizing that he couldn't just rest on his heels any longer. However, when he tried to cast a movement skill, he found himself interrupted again.

Whatever Aki was doing, he was specifically targeting him. There was no reason that Alex and Cole should be able to cast skills while he could not.

A bubbling distaste surged through Sylas' chest as he felt like he had no control over the situation. But his steely green eyes remained sharp.

He ducked beneath a sharp flap of the chimera's wings, driving his shoulder into its ribcage with his entire weight.

It might be an F+ Treasure compared to other Barrier Chains. But in terms of sturdiness and power, it was beyond what even this chimera could destroy easily.

And most definitely not if it couldn't use Aether-fueled skills.

BANG!

Sylas dodged around yet another golem and completed the loop.

The chimera found its body tied down at the edge of the looping chain, its ankle restrained whether it moved left or right.

And at the same time, there was a WHOOSH! from the chains as it was forcefully activated.

One of the reasons the chain was so low-ranked was because of the three-day waiting period. But if Sylas forcefully took control of its Runes himself...

"Kingly boy... you're starting to make me angry. That's not very nice..." Aki's smile only grew wider, and by now, it could only be classified as a grin.

A row of teeth that were almost too white to be natural were displayed. But if one looked closely, it was possible to see that his gums were a sickly gray color that made it look as

though Aki was rotting from the inside out.

And maybe he was, because when Sylas completely ignored him, the flare of rage the Thryskai felt caused veins of black to pulse across his otherwise pale white face.

In a surge, the barrier was 10% formed in an instant before Sylas felt a splitting headache nearly knock him out.

His vision dimmed again, and he only barely saw the mouth of the deer open up and spit an

arrow of green at him.

The arrow tore right into him.
