Chapter 96: Two Rabbits (3)
Almond hadn't fired a single shot since the promotion match began. He still held back after fifty players already died.
Finally, he lined up a shot with two arrows like a scene from a movie.
This video game had realistic mechanics, so viewers felt shocked when Almond successfully pulled off a double shot. It felt satisfying to watch.
— Stop being so good Almond! Stop being so good Almond! Stop being so good Almond! Stop being so good Almond! Stop being so good Almond! Stop being so good Almond!
— Mom, I want to be Almond! Mom, I want to be Almond! Mom, I want to be Almond! Mom, I want to be Almond! Mom, I want to be Almond! Mom, I want to be Almond!
— Shit! You again, Almond? Shit! You again, Almond? Shit! You again, Almond? Shit! You again, Almond? Shit! You again, Almond?
The chat went crazy praising Almond and large donations continued to pour in.
[Holy... has donated a whopping 100,000 won!]
[Guacomole... I-I can't believe it...]
[Dino has donated a whopping 100,000 won!]
[That's freaking insane.]
[Liar! has donated a whopping 500,000 won!]
[I-Is this real?!]
Almond suddenly received 700,000 won in donations. Even he couldn't stay focused in the middle of his promotion matches.
'Wow!'
They donated a jaw-dropping amount. Had his shot been that impressive?
.
— Wow!
— Two arrows for 700,000 won. On sale!
— The donations...
— 700,000 won...
— Mom! I'm going to be Almond too, okay?!
— Son! Become Almond!
— What moms want their sons to be: Almond
As the viewers stated, he earned 700,000 won with two arrows. Each shot earned him 350,000 won.
Almond wondered if he needed to show some sort of reaction even though it was his promotion match. The promotion matches were tense and the game didn't give him any special treatment as a streamer. He was just another regular player in the game.
'Let me heal first.'
He had been shot a couple of times earlier. His health dropped to 30%, but he began healing himself with the medical equipment.
Just then—
Tang!
A gunshot rang out.
"!"
Almond threw himself back and could hear the gun reloading.
— 500,000 won was ignored.
— This streamer needs more! n0velUsb.c0m
— So sad...
— LOL Why did they donate during the game??
— Anyways, how did he dodge that?
— ??? Where's my 500,000 won!? Huh!?
The chat grew rowdy because Almond ignored the donations worth 700,000 won. However, he didn’t have the luxury to worry about such matters.
'A sniper.'
Almond could tell from the sound. A sniper had previously eliminated him before.
A sniper rifle could aim at an opponent from far away. It would be one shot, one kill without a hero tier bulletproof vest.
The tide of the game could change depending on who picked up the sniper rifle. The genre switched from a survival game to horror if only one out of the hundred players became a sniper.
'They're not far judging from the sound.'
Almond didn't dodge from the sound of the gunshot. The noise came after the shot itself. He dodged when he heard the gun reloading and deduced that the opponent was close by.
***
'What's his deal?'
Splat.
The sniper spat on the ground and held his breath while aiming. He was complaining about Almond.
'Did he just dodge the bullet?'
It should've hit, but the opponent dodged it. How was that possible?
'One more shot.'
The sniper aimed again. Whether the enemy was a superhuman who could dodge bullets or just insanely lucky, snipers had no choice but to finish off their targets. Otherwise, they'd be the ones targeted and close combat wasn’t their strong suit.
Chul-kuk.
He reloaded and pulled the trigger. His reloading to aiming transition looked perfectly smooth. He definitely deserved his Diamond rank.
Tang!
The noise from the gunshot settled and he could feel it with his sixth sense. Veteran players had a sixth sense when it came to certain things. He could sense that he hit his target from a hundred meters away.
'It hit...'
This one hit for sure. Well, that's what he thought.
Kang!
He heard a strange sound that crushed his sixth sense.
"Huh?"
He couldn't help but make a noise and asked himself if he had imagined what he saw.
The bullet disappeared in mid-air? He couldn't exactly see what hit it.
"Ah!"
This wasn't the time to think or hesitate. He had to quickly reload. The sniper rifle sacrificed speed for immense power over a long distance.
It was too late to reload and shoot again. Veteran snipers knew what to do in situations like this.
Chuk.
He simply hid behind his rifle.
Kang!!!
As expected, he felt an impact on his shoulder as an arrow struck his rifle. He would've died If he hadn't hidden behind it.
It almost destroyed the rifle, but saving his life had been worth it. However, it wasn't just one arrow flying towards him.
Three arrows in total struck the rifle and shattered it. The gun became useless now.
'What the hell...'
All the arrows struck the same target with a 1 cm difference. There was only a slight difference because he moved his gun. The opponent had perfectly shot all the arrows.
He panicked, but calmly pulled out his pistol like a quick draw from a cowboy movie. Then he instantly pulled the trigger and fired at where the arrows came from.
Tang, tang, tang!
The gunshots loudly echoed throughout the jungle, but he didn't care. He had to kill this dangerous enemy.
'It didn't hit.'
He could tell his shots hadn’t struck anything.
'It's coming!'
Instead, another arrow greeted him and he aimed at the arrow.
Kang!
The bullet and arrow clashed in mid-air. He also shot the next arrows following behind.
'Kya! How's this? Huh?'
He just made a super play that was only possible when he was in good condition. It seemed to be his lucky day today.
'Now it's your turn.'
He aimed his pistol at the source of the arrows again and continued shooting. However, he still felt nothing.
"..."
The jungle went silent. Nothing appeared on the kill log either. He hoped to hit the enemy by chance, but that hadn’t been the case.
'Where is he?'
He looked around for the enemy.
Tung—?
The world suddenly turned upside down.
[Your bulletproof helmet has been damaged.]
He made a dumbfounded noise after his head got knocked back.
"What...?"
How could an arrow come from the side? He didn't have time to complain as the first one wasn't the only arrow. Two more arrows struck his damaged helmet and a text appeared as his world turned black.
[Dead]
[41st]
His corpse could still hear.
"Thank you to those who donated earlier. Wow, 500,000 won! I can't believe it. What should I do..."
The opponent couldn't believe it? That's what he should be saying after he died.
'No way... that guy was streaming?'
Had the opponent been streaming during their intense fight? Did he have that much confidence?
'Was it only intense for me?'
He felt humiliated. He also pulled off some good plays, but it hadn’t been a big deal for the opponent.
'Motherfucker.'
***
Almond thanked his viewers while unknowingly making more enemies.
"I'll think of a reaction. I can't just end the stream since I'm in the middle of a promotion match, so..."
— Why would you end the stream? Are you insane?
— Stream ending LOL
— You still do that?!
— Fact: 700,000 won and you can witness Almond's lost technology reaction!
[ShyNapoleon has donated 10,000 won!]
[Hey! Almond! You didn't react when I donated a million won to you!]
— LOL He's back!
— For real.
‘Ah, the 1 million won incident.’
ShyNapoleon once gave Almond a mission for 10,000 won per kill in Kingdom Age. Almond managed to get a hundred kills and robbed him of 1 million won.
"That was a mission?" Almond replied with a proud smile.
[ShyNapoleon has donated 10,000 won!]
[Okay...]
— So adorable
— He's saying don't give him missions, you loser!
— It's your punishment for giving him a mission!
"Ah! Give me a reaction mission if you want to see a reaction!" Almond brightly said and thought that was a good idea.
However, that only further mocked ShyNapoleon.
— You meanie!
— Wait, that ain't it. LOL
— Napoleon's gonna cry.
— He's actually crying.
— LOL Give me a reaction mission!
— This guy is crazy for money
— Money nut!
— Hahahahaha
Was it because Almond felt almost certain of victory? The atmosphere remained light.
Almond's stream felt entertaining like usual despite it being his Diamond promotion matches. He was a streamer before a player even though it was an intense game. Of course, this was only possible because he could overpower the other players.
***
Finally, he climbed the tree with no other distractions.
"I'll hide on top of this tree."
Now, Almond could target the players on the ground and aim for the climbers. He planned to go after the cat in this cat-and-mouse chase.
He wondered if it would work since it was his first time. In theory, there should be no problems.
[The blue zone is shrinking!]
The blue zone began to shrink.
[35/100]
Only thirty-five players remained. Players had no choice but to slowly gather in the forest.
Almond prepared to hunt all of them.
