Chapter 60 Level Up
Shane didn't bother recycling the painting inside the church. The reason was simple: it was too flimsy and useless to be of any value. It couldn't even protect them from a Crawler Zombie, the weakest type of zombie. Because of that, he decided not to take it apart since they could also gather plenty of firewood in the forest outside the estate. Shane, Leo, and Harper felt a surge of curiosity and excitement as soon as they saw the secret door. There seemed to be an engraved emblem of an island or perhaps a continent on the door. There were also six stars surrounding it, and Shane and the others had no idea what it was. However, before Shane could order the two to open it, he heard a notification from the Apocalypse System!
[ Congratulations! You have uncovered a Secret Chamber. ]
[ You have made a rare and amazing discovery that few have ever seen. You have found the hidden vault of the World Government, where they stored their most precious and dangerous secrets.
What mysteries and treasures await you inside? What risks and dangers lurk behind the door? ] [ You have earned 500 Experience Points for finding the Secret Chamber. ] [ You have earned 1 Reputation Point. ] [ You have gained a new Title: Seeker of Secrets. ] [ Will you dare to open the vault and reveal its contents? Or will you leave it alone and keep its secrets safe? ] [ The choice is yours. But be careful. You might not like what you find. ]
"What?" Shane was taken aback by the sudden notification. This stopped everyone else from making a move.
"Is there something wrong, Sir Shane?" Harper asked as he held his pickaxe tightly.
Shane jolted at this and immediately gave a reply.
"Ahh... It's nothing. The system just gave me a reward for locating this secret vault or chamber... and mentioned there might be some problem inside." Shane replied as he started checking the title that he had just received. [ Seeker of Secrets: The Survivor gains an additional 10 points to their Luck and Perception stats, increasing their chances of finding rare items and expanding the detection range. It grants the Survivor a +10% bonus to their Experience Points gain, which speeds up their leveling and skill progression.
Requirements: Become the first person to locate the secret chamber owned by the World Government. ] 'Bonus stats and experience gain increase? Not bad!' Shane celebrated in his mind as he confirmed the title effects! The 10% additional EXP Gain was certainly a big deal!
Perhaps when the Regional Auction event started, he was already way ahead of the others in terms of level!
Then, as he closed the title description, he read another notification from the system.
[ You have leveled up. ] He finally reached level 15! This time, he was very excited since leveling up to 13, and even 14 didn't give him any decent rewards, only receiving a 75% Discount Voucher similar to when he reached level 12 aside from the usual extra stat points.
Nonetheless, even if he didn't get any rewards from the Apocalypse System at this level, he would at least obtain a Memory Sphere! [ You have unlocked Pet Function ] [ This feature allows the Survivors to adopt and train pets that assist them in combat or exploration. However, a Survivor is only allowed to bind a single Pet. Once they die, you will have to wait 100 days mourning period before you can bind another Pet. ] 'So there's a Pet Function here... There's nothing like this in the A.I. Rebellion...' Shane mused as he recalled the memories of his alternate self.
Based on his memories, Level 15 in the A.I. Rebellion would unlock their access to the Impulse Drive. It was some sort of Defensive Technology that they could integrate into their suits when dealing with the Android Army of the Anima.
Anyway, Shane then checked his current status. Survivor Name: Shane Wells Title: A.I. Rebellion's Chosen One, Fairy Realm's Lone Survivor, Seeker of Secrets
Level: 15
Once again, he learned what kind of events or functions he would unlock in the future as he levels up. However, the thing that he really liked was the information about the Global Events! As expected, after a few Events or Regional Events like Zombie Wave, Auctions, Zombie Challenge, and Boss Raids, there would be Global Events where the strongest of each region would participate! Furthermore, the rewards here were no longer pathetic and genuinely generous!
"Alright... Go ahead and open the door." Shane said as he commanded the two Scavengers. Jenkins and Marcus and had no other choice as they opened the door and entered the chamber. They saw a large and bright room, full of shelves and cabinets. There were a lot of items and materials, of various shapes and sizes. Furthermore, they saw a collection of weapons, armor, gadgets, books, documents, and more. They felt a surge of curiosity and excitement.
"Incredible! My Treasure Seeker Talent isn't worthless at all. Look at all this stuff. This is amazing. This is incredible..." Marcus said in excitement. Jenkins also felt the same as they finally found a true treasure trove. Nonetheless, they couldn't help but feel a tinge of regret as these items would not belong to them.

On the other hand, as soon as they opened the door, and entered the chamber, Cloud, Shane's A.I. assistant, detected the presence of Zombies. [ Scanning the surroundings... ] [ Scan complete. ] [ Ten zombies detected. ]
[ Five Walker Zombies. ] [ Five Jumper Zombies ] [ The Zombies were detected in the chamber. They are hiding behind the shelves and cabinets. They are waiting for you to enter. Be careful. ]
"Ah! Careful! There are ten Walker Zombies!" Shane shouted.
They immediately grabbed their weapons and prepared themselves. However, Jenkins and Marcus had their weapons confiscated! They were defenseless against the hungry zombies!
Graaahhhh!
The Jumper Zombies pounced at the two and Shane couldn't use his revolver as the two Scavengers were blocking his field of vision!
"This is the end. This is the end. This is the end." Marcus panicked.
The Zombies attacked everyone present in the chamber!
They didn't care whether the enemies had weapons that could kill them, they only cared about their hunger and their instinct!
Anyway, Walker Zombies may be the most common type of zombie, but they were still stronger than normal people. As for the Jumper Zombies, they were five times stronger than the Walker Zombies!
"Save me! Ah!"
Shane, Leo, and Harper tried to fight back, but they were outnumbered and overwhelmed... They had no time to think of saving the two Scavengers!
Jenkins and Marcus tried to push the zombies that had pounced on them as they planned to run away, but they were too slow and too weak. They had no chance to use their Skills!
