Chapter 65 Motivation

Chapter 65 Motivation

Shane noticed a locked drawer on the study table and felt a surge of curiosity. He wondered if there were any important documents or valuable items inside. He didn't think for too long, so he decided to try opening it using his Lockpicking Skill.

Although he could probably force it, he decided to be safe and carefully open it. In any case, that was probably the reason why he had such a skill in his arsenal.

'Well... Let's see how good this skill is...' Shane mused.

Then, like a true expert, he started moving like a practiced thief. He inserted a thin metal wire into the keyhole and twisted it gently, feeling for the pins and springs inside. It took just a few seconds before he heard a faint click and smiled. 'Not bad...'

Shane then carefully unlocked the drawer. He pulled it open and saw a black attache case inside. He lifted it out and opened it carefully. He wasn't sure what was inside it after all.

Inside the case, he saw 10 glass ampules, each containing a clear liquid. Shane's heartbeat started going faster. He wasn't sure if this was a virus that started it all or perhaps something even worse!

'Calm down... I might be overthinking.' Shane muttered to himself.

Nonetheless, they looked like some kind of medicine or drug. Luckily, he also saw a document beside the ampules, with a World Government logo on it. He picked it up, and read it.

The document was a report on the ampules, which were labeled as "Project Z-2". It said that the ampules were a modified version of the serum that created the zombies but with a different purpose. Instead of turning people into mindless monsters, the ampules were designed to turn people into obedient slaves.

'What the—' Shane was shocked.

The report explained that the ampules contained a nanovirus, a microscopic machine that could infect and manipulate the human brain. The nanovirus could alter the person's memories, emotions, and personality, making them loyal and submissive to the World Government or to the one that had injected this to them.

The nanovirus could also enhance the person's physical abilities, making them stronger, faster, and more resilient. 'So this is the perfected or modified version after Project Z failed?' Shane mused as he continued reading.

The report claimed that the ampules were a breakthrough in biotechnology, and a potential weapon for world domination. It said that the ampules were tested on a few subjects, and the results were satisfactory. Shane couldn't help but shake his head after reading this part. It seemed that getting the Seeker of the Secrets title was really appropriate.

Anyway, as he read the documents, he learned that the subjects showed no signs of resistance or rebellion, and followed every command given to them. They also performed well in combat and espionage missions, showing remarkable skills and efficiency.

"And I have ten of them here..." Shane muttered as he realized the importance of these drugs.

'It's probably Shane...' Raze thought for a moment.

Anyway, Raze was fascinated by what she had found in this chamber and decided to take some of the items and documents with her. She may not be aspiring to make a vaccine, but she was hoping to find a place where the vaccine was located or where she could get more exclusive items.

"Roan worked really hard over the past few days... I wonder how they discovered a secret chamber first?" Raze muttered as she looked at her baby dragon.

"Kyu?" The baby dragon looked at her for a moment while it was resting. It seemed to have noticed her gaze just now.

However, Raze simply smiled at her baby dragon before she packed her backpack with the most valuable and useful items, and left the chamber. After some thought, she locked the door behind her and made her way back to the sewers. She planned to return to her simple base, and examine her loot.

However, as she walked through the dark and damp tunnels, she heard a loud and familiar sound. It was the sound of zombies, and they were coming her way. She seemed to have done something and alerted the undead to her presence.

"Mhmm... Let's hope they are just the normal zombies." Raze muttered to herself.

She didn't panic and simply picked up the Rare Grade Dagger in her possession. Of course, she also asked Roan, a fire-type dragon that matched her affinity, to position in front. The dragon was a small and cute creature with red scales and yellow eyes... It was already completely different from before when it had green scales and cool breath.

Rooaaar!

The baby dragon roared as it sensed the zombies, and prepared to attack. Raze smiled and patted its head. She said, "Let's go, Roan. We have some zombies to fry."

Then, Raze and Roan ran towards the zombies, who were emerging from the shadows. There were dozens of them, mostly Walker and Jumper types. Graahhh!

They snarled, growled, and soon charged at Raze and Roan.

"Come and give me more exp!"

Raze shouted as she waved to Roan to kill the Zombies! Raze didn't idle either as she followed Roan, swung her dagger, and sliced through the zombies that Roan had already injured with his claws and tails! She easily aimed for their heads, the only way to kill them for sure! She was excited to find so many zombies after she discovered the secret chamber!

"I'll be joining the Auction! Come at me!" Raze's eyes lit up as she recalled the upcoming event.
