Chapter 230: Final Horde

Noticing that Shane was engrossed in his looting task from the fallen Zombies, Shinja made his way back to the makeshift resting area settled not far from the protective ramparts.

This designated spot served not only as a place for respite but also as a communal gathering point where weary defenders could regroup and replenish their strength. Needless to say, there were also food and drinks in this area where everyone could quickly quench their thirst or satisfy their hunger.

The others had also started settling somewhere and waited for the signal for the last Zombie Wave.

Shinja looked around and noticed the bustling activity unfolding around him, each individual attending to their respective tasks with a sense of urgency... Well, they had no idea how long they could rest since the final horde could arrive at any moment. They were all just waiting for Lucas to ring the bell.

Nonetheless, many of the combatants sought out Anna, the resident physician, to undergo some quick examinations. Apparently, most of them are wary of any potential contamination from the blood of the fallen undead that may have inadvertently splattered upon them during the heated battle.

The zombie blood could've splashed on their faces, mouths, or even eyes, so they were worried that they were about to turn into zombies. Of course, Shane already knew that the Survivors had a very high resistance to the virus unless they were bitten, but he didn't mind them being cautious.

Anyway, not all of them are waiting to get checked by the gorgeous physician. Some of them diligently inspected their weapons for any signs of wear or damage, ensuring that their arsenal remained in peak condition for the final wave... It would be a huge regret if their weapons broke at this final juncture.

Meanwhile, a dedicated contingent of defenders remained stationed atop the ramparts... Most of them were the Super Soldiers scanning the horizon for any signs of encroaching danger...

"Now... Let's see what we have here..." Shinja muttered to himself.

His gaze fell upon the replenished provisions laid out on the communal table. Stay ahead with m v l em pyr

The aroma of cooked meals had already dissipated since they had all eaten Alexa's cooked food a while ago. This time, it was replaced instead by a selection of Meal, Ready-to-Eat (MRE) packs, each offering a different culinary delight to sate the hunger of the defenders.

Surveying the array of options before him, Shinja's eyes settled upon the assortment of MRE packs, each bearing a unique menu that tantalized the senses.

Most of them had unusual names, but that didn't change the fact that they must be tasty! Actually, he has already tasted two types of MREs. They were Menu 1, the 'Chicken, Egg Noodles & Vegetables in Sauce' and Menu 3, the 'Beef Gaulash ( Beef with Brown Rice, Spinach, Carrots, Tomatoes, and Smoked Paprika )'. These two MRE packs were incredible!

As he looked at the list, he realized that there were new menus.

Several thunderous roars from the sky followed.

After a few moments, the first droplets of rain began to fall, their disjointed rhythm growing in intensity as the storm unleashed its fury upon the unsuspecting estate.

SShhhhaaahhh~

It was as if the world was hinting to them that the arrival of the final horde was getting closer, it unleashed a surge of rain that pounded against the earth with incredible force, turning the soil into a quagmire of mud!

Indeed, the swamp they had created grew larger because of this!

It was then followed by the howling wind that whipped through the trees... It even carried with it a wind that sounded like a mournful wail...

Thud! Thud! Thud!

As the tempest raged on, the final batch of zombies made their ominous approach!

Their arrival created earth-shaking tremors, and they soon realized that these tremors were caused by their every step.

Despite the torrential downpour and the unrestrained storm that raged around them, Shane and his comrades braced themselves for the final horde!

To their surprise, the number of zombies that emerged from the storm was not as large as they expected, but rather a mere two figures that loomed in the distance!

"This..."

Shane immediately felt nervous as he saw the two towering figures emerge from the darkness...

They were definitely larger than the Giant Zombies before!

"How do you expect us to beat that?!"
