Chapter 35: Rampage

Jael glared at Thayer Argent.

The guy was sitting calmly on the platform behind him and doing something so ridiculous. He's drinking tea! He brought a teapot and cup and served himself while he talked casually. "I don't think I'll meet you here."

"Is that so," Jael replied flatly. "I didn't see you when I came here." There were very few Awakeners nearby, which was why Jael chose the place.

"I must be underwater then. See?"

Jael looked back. Thayer was holding his Codex in his left hand but his right hand was covered in dark waters. He gestured and the water spun, lifting into the air and forming around him.

"I buy this today. I have a mixture of water-based aspects and fire today. What a weird combination."

"How much do you spend?" Jael asked. He still couldn't believe there was a Codex that let you spend real-life money to buy skills and abilities.

"The water control that I bought went for three hundred thousand gold coins. For two hours I'll have the ability to control water at Iron rank." He took a sip.

Jael's head spun. Three hundred thousand coins is three hundred thousand dollars in real life! To burn that amount of money away like that for something he'll use for two hours. How rich can this guy be if he has to continuously spend that amount of money?

"Can you buy silver rank skills?"

It was then that the monsters arrived, their roar shattered the air, and they descended on platforms with sharp crunching sounds that echoed together and mixed with the sound of their mighty splashes.

"Good for you," Jael said and darted forward, over the platform, his legs propelling him forward. It was chaos everywhere as Awakeners fought the Orcs and also tried to keep themselves safe from each other.

Jael stopped because in front of him was an orc the size of two grown men that swung its axe downward, splitting an elf into two as hot guts spilled into the water. The orc let out a satisfied grunt and turned its dark eyes on him.

It bellowed, eyes dark with bloodlust. The orc raised its hand, and an ice spear appeared, the tip glinting in the sun. Jael felt the chill from it and he raised his transformed hand with a smile. "Let's get on with it."

The monster threw the ice spear and swiftly followed behind; Jael slapped the spear away and gasped in surprise. He looked at his hand where the ice hit and where a bit of frost was creeping over. "How strong is that magic?"

Hermit warned him as the monster chopped down brutally; Jael whirled with his sword, striking the Orc directly in the face and splitting away half of its head. He grinned. "Using Hermit full power in my hand is a blast."

The only downside is that it won't give him fast healing while he's doing so. Also, the added speed and hearing won't be available.

"That's something I can get behind. I'm going to kill as much as I can and then I will kill more!"

And so Jael began. He flunged himself at any orc he saw, his powerful bone jarring punch was enough to take an orc out. He transformed his hand between sword and punches. His monstrous hand was soon covered in blood and him himself was soaked with it.

He would drive inside the midst of multiple orcs who are killing Awakeners then he would whirled, his sword unfolding like a fan, the fangs set inside cutting like sawing machine.

His eyes glowed with green fire as sometimes he would use Unholy magic in his sword and send blazing ripping sword slashes that would tore gashes into the monsters.

The Awakeners looked at him and most turned away in fear. But some watched him. They noted him.
