The voice of Kaidos's master was silent before he continued speaking; there was a surprise he tried to hide. "To think you can make split-second decisions, impressive. But what's this curious power of yours? Aren't you a Necromancer?"
Jael didn't answer, he couldn't. His gaze was fixed on Litha hanging mid-air, covered by red blood roots that bind her body. And his ears kept hearing Temur's groan.
"No answer? Well, it hardly matters. How are you going to defeat me with this shield now?" He said with amusement.
Jael couldn't find the answer, especially when all his power was drained and he had even used up his monsters' own. There is truly only one thing left. "Come out, war chief."
Darkness boiled in front of him, and the war chief goblin came out. It still hadn't fully recovered from its last fight, but it was standing. Jael brought out a sword from his ring and gave it to it. "Kill that Necromancer but don't touch Litha."
The goblin with only one hand turned then sped forward, its bulk speeding so fast it looked like it was going to collide with Litha, but at the last moment, it did a crouching roll and went up, swinging upward on the outside and into the portal.
Kaidos boss laughed as he took care of the goblin. It was fast, but that was what Jael was waiting for. The goblin was a sacrifice as he got the master's attention away from them briefly.
He huffed, ran towards Litha, and tried to cut the roots that surrounded her with a dagger. But instead, the roots tightened around her and a branch snapped out and slapped the dagger from his hand before it coiled around his hand. Discover more stories at m,v l'e-novelhall.net
"Oh. A distraction, I like it, but the goblin isn't much of a distraction for me," the portal shuddered, and the master finally came out. A red robe with a red mask, only the glint of a fiery eyes shone through. He was dragging the goblin by its neck. "Next time, you should send something that will threaten me."
Suddenly the roots pulling him stopped, and he fell backward, his eyes on the portal that now looked like the last light of the day. The master's voice came out of it, filled with fury and glee. "If you value yourself Jael, you will give yourself up to me. Meet me at....."
The portal winked out.
Jael stared and stared at the space. His head was filled with nothing, only silence. He turned blindly towards a noise, it was Temur reaching out with hands outstretched towards where Litha was.
Jael tried to get to his feet, to go to Temur and help his friend. At least he should be able to save a friend, but his eyes rolled, and he was suddenly looking at the ceiling up above. Darkness followed.

When Jael woke, it was to silence. The regular type of silence where everything was normal, and any minute now, he would yawn and rub his eyes while he tried to retain the last bit of his dream.
Then he would drag himself out and demand what Temur was cooking for them that morning and wait for Litha's scolding. But something bugged him, and then the memories slammed into him, and he jumped up.
His vision swarmed, and his weak legs gave under him; he held tightly to his bed and groaned as all the muscles in his body ached. "Wh...whre..." he cleared his dried throat as he looked around. "Where am I?"
The room was small with a single posh bed and chair, the wall looked like metal, and it was decorated with different art. It looks familiar and when the curtain suddenly flapped open, Jael knew why.
"So you are awake."
