Chapter 111: Rich and favors

Jael took his seat and understood the tension in the air. The woman wanted them to release Arkin to them, but there was no guarantee they would give them information once the man was in their custody.

Thayer said. "And I've told you already, we'll give him to you once we've gotten the information we need."

"You won't," she said flatly. "Arkin isn't the type you'll be easy with; you need to torture him in a specialized way. Give him to us and we'll get everything from him."

In truth, the only reason the Tower Guards aren't here to take him by force is because he's been kept in a Guildhouse. And because Thayer isn't ashamed to throw his weight around.

Thayer didn't want to give Arkin to them because this would just be as if he spent all that money for nothing. He had already spent a lot, and the businessman spirit in him wouldn't just let go unless he saw the result. "Give us a few more days."

Her eyes darkened. "If you haven't gotten him to talk now then what will a few more days provide?"

Jael spoke. "Well, I haven't tortured him yet." He made sure his voice was calm and masked his hesitation and excitement. Everyone looked at him, and he shrugged, then he faced the woman. "I'll have a go with him and see what happens.

"I'm a member of the team that brought him in. I'll question him today and see how it goes."

She smiled, and her eyes shone in a way that almost made Jael look away. She stood up and strode out of the room without saying anything. The message is clear– today is the last day.

Thayer let out a long sigh. "Ah! How did everything turn out like this? All I want is zone b, but now...." He's even spent more than he should, and now they are holding a member of the Chaos Cult captive.

Cele shuddered. "That woman is Silver rank, we don't want to mess with them."

"Then what should we do? Even with all the torture we still can't get the man to talk." Thayer even used truth serum but the man's mind is like an Iron dome.

"Yes," Thayer narrowed his eyes. "My new Guild has spent so much in this weeks. Iff I invest it on new members andartifacts,ts, I'll hato ve made us stronger."

Jael looked him right in the eyes. "It is worth it for a businessman like you. I'm surprised you didn't see it." He shrugged casually.

"What are you talking about?" Thayer bristled.

"Think about it like this, an investment. You just invested in one of the stronger teams in our set. Do you think only your team would have claimed that zone? You've read the reports haven't you?"

Temur stood from his place and bowed to the rich guy. "We will still need your help, Thayer. Sponsor us until we can rescue Litha, and our team will owe you a big favor."

Thayer finally smiled. Yes, indeed, he read the report, and he knew the three of them would have claimed the zone alone themselves. "You will owe me three big favors, then you can forget about money till you rescue her."

"No," Jael smiled sweetly. "One big favor and one small one."

Thayer shrugged. "It's a deal."

Human investment, from what Thayer already read from the different reports he gathered from the team and what he knew about Jael, he won't be surprised if their team becomes figures that'll make important decisions for the Tower.

He cleared his throat. "Anyway. Let's talk about him, how can we get the information we need from him before tomorrow? Pain isn't working, and we make a deal isn't working either since he just wants Jael."

Jael stood. "You don't have to worry about him, I will deal with him myself."

Temur raised his brows. "What are you going to do?"

"I'm going to the slaughterhouse."
