Chapter 6 - Psionic Awakening

Chapter 6: Psionic Awakening“Trying to run!” Lin Zhichen was now unwilling to let the enemies escape. The frigate set off, chasing after the pirate ships.

At this moment, Kadier Rockefeller had already regained his composure and was looking at Lin Zhichen with a peculiar gaze.

“Why are you still here? What are you staying for?” Feeling uncomfortable under the stare, Lin Zhichen frowned and asked.

Kadier Rockefeller’s frigate had suffered extensive damage from the pirate boats’ attacks. If Lin Zhichen had arrived ten minutes later, he would have witnessed a free fireworks show.

“Sir Lin Zhichen, I must admit that I underestimated you,” Kadier Rockefeller regained his composure, a noble smile appearing on his face:

“No matter how exceptional a person is, they are insignificant in the vast universe. We need unity to survive. In fact, humanity has reached the stars precisely because of our organizational abilities.”

“What are you trying to say?” Lin Zhichen chuckled.

“Lin, join us! My father is the head of our family. If you are willing, I can recommend you to immediately become the captain of a destroyer!” Kadier Rockefeller said earnestly:

“You don’t need to worry about the benefits. The Rockefellers never treat their friends poorly!”

“No thanks, I’m used to working alone,” Lin Zhichen waved his hand. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll get back to work.”

Seeing that Lin Zhichen’s attitude was firm, Kadier Rockefeller didn’t persist. He maintained his perfect smile:

“Then, I look forward to our next meeting!”

The holographic communicator shut off, and the damaged frigate turned around without hesitation, flying out of the asteroid belt.

Meanwhile, the two fleeing pirate boats were also turned into space debris, their shattered hulls colliding with asteroids, making the starry sky even more chaotic.

“Noble scion, huh?” Lin Zhichen mused. To be honest, he didn’t have any ill feelings towards Kadier Rockefeller. Such individuals were much better at dealing with people than ordinary folks.

But the conflict between them was over interests. The solar system was only so big; if someone took more, others would have less or even starve.

Don’t think that the vastness of space means there are places to go everywhere. In reality, truly safe areas were overcrowded, and the threshold for pioneering into uninhabited star regions was too high, something Earthlings couldn’t even dream of at this stage.

If it weren’t for the Federation’s protection policy, which prohibited non-military combat ships from other star systems from entering for ten years, Earthlings wouldn’t have any room to rise.

While cleaning up the battlefield and collecting the spoils, Lin Zhichen watched the video. Soon, after fast-forwarding through the video, Lin Zhichen fell silent.

No wonder Kadier was so quick to send over the navigation log; it turned out it involved a micro pirate base!

In the wild, NPCs had a small chance of directly spawning pirate bases or even more powerful rebel bases.

Alternatively, an increase in wild monster ships could lead to the establishment of a base once they reached a certain number.

Generally, these bases were located in uncharted outer star regions, where the long-term spawning and gathering made their numbers appear large.

Once a wild monster base was established, it became a fixed spawn point, periodically spawning starships of the corresponding faction.

If left unchecked, the number of starships would increase, and the base would gradually expand outward and upgrade, meaning the spawn point would grow larger.

Once they reached a certain level, they would wage war against all non-affiliated forces within the star system, wave after wave, fearlessly.

There were rumors on the star network that in the dark star regions outside of Federation control, some wild monster bases even ruled entire star systems, attacking any ship that crossed their territory.

“Can’t take it down!” Lin Zhichen muttered, assessing the pirate base in the video. The towering turrets stung his eyes.

The turrets mounted on such bases had power and range far exceeding those of ships, certainly beyond what a frigate could handle.

The base’s radar also far surpassed shipborne radar. Even with pirate-level technology, the observation range was much greater, making it impossible for a small frigate to covet such a base.

At the end of the video, a swarm of pirate ships was closing in, surrounding the frigate.

“We’ll have to target the patrol fleet!”

A micro pirate base might have a few pirate gunboats comparable to destroyers, but these simplified warships were much slower than a frigate. If they couldn’t win, they could at least escape.

By now, the spoils had been collected. Lin Zhichen looked them over; there were no surprises this time, just a small electromagnetic railgun, the same model as the three turrets on his ship.

“Not bad, another few dozen energy points in the bag!”

Lin Zhichen chuckled and commanded the ship to head towards the location of the pirate base.

He once again entered seclusion, this time aiming to break through the most critical juncture.

In just two days, the process of transforming the Yin Spirit into the Yang Spirit had reached its final stage, with the progress of refining Qi into the Spirit approaching 100%…

Suddenly, as if reaching a certain threshold, the Yin Spirit trembled violently, almost collapsing. Yet, in the originally closed and dim room, it was as if a sun had suddenly risen, casting warm golden light that illuminated the entire command cabin.

Witnessing this extraordinary scene, even the emotionally detached NPC crew members couldn’t help but frequently turn their heads.

“After two lifetimes of cultivation, the Yang Spirit is finally achieved!”

At this moment, a wondrous scene appeared within the ship: two “Lin Zhichens” manifested simultaneously. One was seated cross-legged on the transformed captain’s chair, while the other stood in mid-air. To an ordinary person, it would be impossible to tell which was real and which was not.

With the achievement of the Yang Spirit, he had officially stepped onto the path of immortality. In ancient mythology, at this level, a cultivator would perform external deeds of merit, awaiting the completion of their cosmic duties. Once their merits were fulfilled, they would receive a celestial decree from the Heavenly Court, ascending to immortality.

In other words, the Yang Spirit was akin to a demigod. Even if the physical body was abandoned, the spirit could still remain in the world for a long time.

Before Lin Zhichen could reflect further, at the moment he achieved the Yang Spirit, his personal panel underwent a transformation.

“Whoosh~”

Without any wind, it was as if an invisible flame was burning Lin Zhichen. The Yang Spirit, which had been standing in mid-air, fell and merged with his body.

At this moment, the vague sense of a grand presence he had felt before now broke through the barrier. He finally touched this great will, truly entering the realm of Psionic abilities.
