On the Western Island created from the expanded school grounds...
A crowd of about a hundred people gathered around a fire inside a large warehouse that had previously been used to store food and all sorts of processing equipment.
These people all had one thing in common, which was the runes in the shape of inverted crosses engraved onto their foreheads. They all had rosy cheeks, and expressions filled with life as they engaged in quiet conversations with one another.
"They seem hopeful..."
"The ignorant relish in their bliss..."
Two men stood out from the crowd due to their clothing which was different from the rest. One of the men had a peculiar book hanging by his side. The book was decorated with shiny gems of various kinds and had various runic inscriptions on its body which included a rune that greatly resembled an eye placed directly at its center.
The other man at his side was dressed in a clean white shirt and black slacks. He looked extremely clean and dignified. However, there was a strange aura about both men that would make one turn around to take another glance at them. The aura was very slight and almost undetectable, but it was there...
The man in white had a pure white blade that had a pair of inverted wings on its hilt. The sheath of the blade was decorated in golden runic patterns and looked extremely holy, yet had a dark aura floating around it.
The men, whose presences were already faint were standing directly behind the mass of people, causing them to go unnoticed.
There was a beautiful girl in front of the crowd who was also dressed differently from the crowd of people with a saintly aura around her. She glanced at the two men every once in a while, but never kept her attention on them for too long as she directed it back to the crowd before her...
The most outstanding difference between the lady and everyone else, which included the man with the white sword and his companion, was the absence of the inverted cross on her forehead.
"What do you think our next step should be?" The man with the tome attached to his hip said as he folded his arms and tapped on his nearly nonexistent biceps with his fingers in contemplation.
The man in white had a profound look in his golden irises as he spoke,
"Defeating that {Broodmother} took a lot of energy, and we haven't fully healed from the injuries we suffered during the fight, so I suggest we recover before even talking about what we could be doing with the others..."
The man with the tome gazed at the man in white beside him with a smile,
"Lukas, we both know you have been blessed with the ability to use light mana to see what is hidden further down the river of time. I know you have taken a peek recently..."
There was silence between the two for a while before it was broken by the man in white,
"The thing about the light is it will only illuminate what you want to see, not what can be seen. As such, an incomplete future is always revealed whenever. Doing this frequently is also not good for any of us, as it takes way too much energy, and most of the time gives little to no clues at all. I won't be able to use it again until two weeks from now..." Lukas said with a faint smile on his lips.
"Is that so... But still, you must have seen something this time right? Your revelations were what made us find the remnants of the light god, Yagani. With that, we were able to all receive a power-up as well as save all these people from sure death!" The man with the tome said with visible excitement.
"Calm down, Zue. All I was able to see was what happens tomorrow morning, which is nothing of importance." Lukas said, lying straight through his teeth.
"Ha... Guess all we can do now is wait. I thought we would be able to find something of importance again." Zue said with a sullen expression.
"Cheer up... We have cleared out all the devils, so we are safe for the most part. What we need to do now is worry about how to spread the message of the light god and source for options of food and resources as well as expand those under our fold." Lukas said with a strange smile on his face.
"That's true... What takes precedence the most is spreading the word of the Lord, Yagani." Zue said with a look of understanding on his face, causing Lukas to nod in satisfaction.
"The other Islands must still contain people who have managed to survive till now. Tomorrow, we will embark on a journey Northward."
"What if we meet resistance like we did last time?" Zue said with an innocent expression on his face. Lukas looked confused for a while before he understood.
"We kill them all of course. As long as they do not accept the teachings of the Light god, they are heretics." Lukas said as though it was the most normal thing in the world.
Chloe, who was the lady that had been glancing at them flinched when she heard the words uttered by her brother.
Since the two men were speaking loudly, everyone in the room should have been able to hear them, yet all seemed oblivious to the two men as well as the words they had spoken.
"That will be for the best. Okay! I will inform the others to get ready. Once we go North, I believe we should head east. That side of the school could potentially be holding a lot of food." Zue said she waved at Lukas, turned around, and left the building. seaʀᴄh thё nôvel_Fire.ηet website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.
Lukas kept the smile on his face for a few seconds before it melted away into a dull expression. His eyes had changed, and the shade of gold in them seemed brighter, yet also gave off a weird feeling t any who looked unto them...
"A Devil in the North, and a Demon in the East, huh..."
An extremely small number of those who could use the Light element were able to use the mysterious nature of light to gaze at things that should remain hidden normally, which includes past or future events...
These things are often revealed to them in the form of prophecies or visions that are influenced by their magic.
Lukas, the one who just like Cain had cleared the devils of the West Island out was with such a power. In one of his visions, he had seen something that had made him pause. He had absorbed the remnant of the Light god Yagani, which had caused the nature of his powers to be boosted, so he was able to use the skill better and with more accuracy than others.
In the vision, he had only been revealed two things,
"A Devil in the North, and a Demon in the East..."
A dangerous smile appeared on the handsome clean face of Lukas,
"Even Devils and Demons shall bow before the might of my sword. An all-searing light can cut through anything..."
Just like any who had managed to survive this long, Lukas was incredibly capable in more ways than one. Not only had he managed to create a group of almost 200 survivors, but he had also established a team of fighters that had assisted him with clearing out the devils and dangerous mutant beasts that had been on the Island.
The group consisted of thirty of those who didn't have access to the system and seven who did. The seven being, Lukas himself, Zue, Chloe, and four others who were under his tight command.
The thirty who had just consumed remnants were blessed with the powers of the generous Light god, in exchange for a greater portion of their divinity. All those who engaged in this ritual had the rune of Yagani engraved on their foreheads, while Lukas was chosen as the successor of Yagani's legacy, earning the title, Unholy Seraph of the End...
"Fucking Light god of trash..." Lukas had a terrifying expression on his face as he pulled the pristine white blade from its sheath.
'To consume my divinity means he has eaten a portion of my soul in exchange for such meager power! I will need to find something to offset this balance and restore my full potential!' Lukas understood what the Light god had done, yet still went ahead with it because he was desperate. However, now that he no longer needed the power of the Light god, it was only natural he wanted a refund...
To give divinity away wasn't something that should be done carelessly. The deals that most of the deceased gods created for the acquisition of their remnants greatly differed depending on the god.
For example, the Sea god whose remnants Stan had found had relatively lax conditions in exchange for a little bit of power. However, gods like Yagani who offered way too much power also presented much stricter and more restricting proposals. At that time, Lukas had been unaware.
"Brother..." Chloe, separated from the crowd of people and walked towards Lukas.
Lukas's eyes lit up as he gazed at his sister who approached how with unprecedented affection and love. He had made sure he didn't take the remnant to make the deal with Yagani and receive the power of the Light god. Despite being the supposed successor of this Light god, he was doing his best to make sure he didn't have total control over him...
"What is it, Chloe?" Lukas said as he sat on the ground and pulled out his status screen to look over some things.
"What are we going to do next? Food is running out. The mutant beast meat left isn't enough to feed us all for long. At most, it will last three more days." Chloe said in a melodious voice that could melt any heart of ice.
Just like her brother, she had a hair full of snow-white hair, small pink lips, and a dainty figure. Due to the events of over the past week or two, she was dressed very similarly to everyone else, but her beauty wasn't hidden in the slightest.
She could be considered tall for a girl, standing at a height of five foot nine, with a pair of cold eyes that would turn warm only when she gazed into the distance, lost in her thoughts. Although she wore a small smile on her face, she exuded a sad and grey aura, giving one the intent to try to make her smile more genuine.
Lukas paused for a while before standing up and heading toward the doors of the building...
"We are going to plunder the food and resources we need. Those who refuse to give us what we want and go against the Light god will be killed. You will stay behind..." Lukas said before heading out of the warehouse, leaving Chloe to stand alone.
The chatter of the people around her faded into the distance, as Chloe gazed at her brother's back in silence.
"Brother... I..."
A single tear slid down her cheeks as she muttered something inaudible...
"I'm sorry..."
