The {Elemental Vault} was a very peculiar skill. It's existence itself qas simply happenstance and a decent sprinkling of luck. However, there was also a mystical aspect to it as well.
Electricity spazzed through the chains on his hand. Cain concentrated as he activated {Heavenly Blue Lightning}. A magic circle appeared above the chains, and a bolt of lightning struck down. Cain could normally conjure a very scary amount of lightning. However, the density of the lightning mana he had gotten from that torturous experience wasn't that great.
However, it was more than enough to destroy the chains. The chains fell towards the ground. However, they stopped just as they were about to hit the ground. S~eaʀᴄh the Novelƒire(.)ne*t website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.
Cain's eyes shone with a golden luster as he gently lowered the chains to the ground so as not to make any unnecessary sounds.
Then he walked to the iron bars that made up the gate of the prison cell.
'These things are covered with runic enchanments. They won't be difficult to break through. However, they will make a damning amount of noise.'
With a flash, a star-tipped blade covered above his outstretched palm. The blade shot through the gap between the bars and appeared on the other side.
"Nexus Tether."
Each blade that was created with the {Fallen Stars of Orion} spell was covered in runes and magic circles that allowed Cain tether himself to them spatially. Using this connection, he could swap locations with the blade. However, the blade needed to contain a decent amount of mana before that would be possible.
Luckily for him, one thing he wasn't lacking in, was mana...
In the veritable blink of an eye, he had escaped. However, this prison break wasn't over yet.
Cain turned to look at the dark diver who was nestled within his shadow. He gave it a mental command and it immediately began swimming through the shadows.
Cain knew for a fact that he wasn't the only that had been captured. He remembered the conversation he had eavesdropped on not too long ago. The shorter of the two guards had said they had captured Heretics.
The only issue now, was finsingbth others that were captured.
Sure enough, the {Dark Soul} didn't need to go too far before it picked up a strange mana fluctuation coming from one of the cells nearby.
The eldritch creature looked into the cell. Of course, Cain could see through its eyes as well, so he had no problem identifying the individual.
With a burst of speed, he quickly arrived before cell. There, a young man, who looked to be around his late teens, with a bed of messy green hair on his head md striking green eyes.
It was Manny.
Cain called out to him, "Manny..."
Manny snapped his head towards the cell gate,
"Who the fuck is there?!"
Cain wanted to smack him on the head. He whispered sharply,
"Chill out! It's just me! Quit yelling!"
Manny blinked in confusion. He sloy inched closer to the cell gate,
"Cain?"
"Yeah. It's me."
Manny gritted his teeth as he stuck his face through the cell bars,
"Come on, man. Get me out of here quickly! I don't want to have to go back there! That woman is insane!"
Cain could see the genuine fear and pain in his comrade's eyes, and he could sympathize with him.
"Hold on for a sec. We need to make as little noise as possible. We also can't destroy the cell gate."
Cain frowned. He wanted to bust him out, but he couldn't touch the cell gate. If he did, the entire prison would come down on them.
"Hmph! Don't worry about that. Just get me out of these chains. Leave the rest to me." Manny said with confidence.
Cain raised a brow, but fodny say anything else. He knew Manny was strong, but he didn't know to what extent yet. He had probably gone through all sorts of trials himself that forced him to grow.
Destroying the chains were light work now that he was free. In the blink of an eye, the chains fell off, and levitated in the air. Rubbing his wrists, Manny grinned at Cain,
"Prepare yourself, Boss! What you are about to see is a technique I've create through numerous trials, battling adversity with-"
"Just get it over with, idiot!"
"Sure, sure..."
Cain watched as Manny suddenly exploded with a burst of power. However, that power was quickly reigned in until it became a film of concentrated energy on the surface of his body.
"I call this one, {Memory of the Phantom Phase}." Manny said with a grin, as with one step, he was out of the prison cell.
Cain's eyes went wide, 'I didn't see him at all.'
Cain had always been proud of his speed. Although he was more of a balanced fighter, most of his buff skills were targeted at increasing his agility and speed.
However, he was completely humbled. Manny wasn't just faster than him
The guy was a Demon of Speed.
It was unclear how a fight between the two of them would play out.
"How was it, eh? Impressive, right?"
Cain ignored the green haired idiot and began walked forward.
"So what's the plan now, Boss?"
Cain spoke quietly, "The others should be inside this prison as well. The plan is to free everyone, them make a break for it together. Once we are safe, we'll figure out just how to address this trial."
"Sounds like a good plan to me." Manny said with a wide smile.
Cain frowned, "The only problem is breaking out isn't going to be easy."
Manny's laid-back smile faded away, "Those guys... They are strong."
Cain nodded, "And this place is crawling with them. The best thing to do, is to make our way out silent-"
BOOM!
Cain and Manny tumbled to the ground as a massive quake shook the entire prison.
"Ha... So much for sneaking around." Manny lamented. However, Cain wasn't in the mood.
His eyes turned cold...
He quickly commanded the dark diver to locate the source of the explosion as he stood to his feet.
The dark diver was very fast. Coupled with the fact that physical barriers weren't an obstacle, it arrived at the scene of the explosion. When Cain saw what happened, he couldn't help but curse,
"Fuck!" He wanted to curse the heavens and the bad luck they brought him, but he didn't have the time. The sound of metal boots hitting the ground quickly echoed throughout the dark corridors.
"We have to move." Cain said as he dashed forward.
"Where to?" Manny asked.
"We have to go get our weapons and supplies."
Manny fell silent before asking carefully,
"Just now... That-"
Cain replied, his voice as cold as ice,
"Someone just used a {Dark Egg}."
Manny was shocked, "What?! How?!"
"I don't know. But they are going to be confronting half the prison right now. It's only a matter of time before they are killed."
"Shit. Shouldn't we go help them if it's that urgent?"
Cain snorted, "What can we do without our weapons? Our combat power will decrease by half if we don't have them."
In the blink of an eye, they were turning round a corner and blasting up. Cain's eyes turned dark,
"There are two guards up ahead. Get ready to fight. Hit them as hard as you can."
Cain quickly activated the emblem of darkness. However, he limited it's effective area to just a few meters around him and Manny. A corner later, and they could see an entire company of guards rushing down the hallway.
Because of the {Dark Emblem}, they couldn't see them. However, Manny and Cain could see them. The company was made up of ten guards, fitted head to toe in the same set of armor.
They all carried shields at their backs, and each one held some sort of melee weapon.
"Strike hard and fast." Cain said. His eyes suddenly changed. His left eye became milky white. All the black disappeared and was replaced completely with on sclera. At the same time, the iris of his right eye split into twoz making him look very eerie.
A blade of golden light manifested into his hand was was immediately consumed by a thick crimson flame.
Manny's entire body became enveloped with a thin film of light green energy. His eyes burned with a ghostly green flame. He turned into a breeze, running straight for the contingent of guards.
Cain's feet exploded with an azure flame as he turned into a blinding streak. When it came to their base stats, Cain, Manny, and the guards could be said to be equal. However, these guards didn't have the means of increasing their strength and speed so quickly with spells, skills or abilities.
They were also not expecting two agents of death to suddenly come out of the darkness.
Too fast, too deadly...
In the blink of an eye, they tore through the company of men, leaving behind a trail of torn limbs and broken bodies.
