Chapter 7 Wingman?

''I'm curious how he killed a mob with only level 1 stats and no items.'' Leas approached the wolf's dead body and asked.

''He was obviously just lucky. The mob was most likely dying when he discovered it, and he simply went and fired the final shot. Maybe he's already dead at this point.'' Falco said with contempt.

''Yeah, that has to be the case.'' Leas said with a sudden realization, nodding her head.

It was clear who the two were talking about. Since it took even a group of four a fair amount of time and effort to kill the wolf, there was no way they would have believed Raydon killed something similar with his level 1 stats and without any items.

''I guess we don't have time to sit down and comment on others. The other team earned 2 more points. '' Gary approached the wolf with a small knife that was too small for his large frame and quickly began skinning it. ''I'll get this done quickly.''

Seraher walked up to Falco and inquired, placing her icy blue sword in the hilt at her waist. ''Did you find the next mob?''

Hearing Seraher, Falco's eye twitched. Without saying a word, he bent down, placed one hand on the ground, and closed his eyes. He opened his eyes again after a few seconds and said.

''Nothing. '' Disappointment was evident in his voice.

Seraher frowned and looked around. ''It is strange. It shouldn't have been so difficult for us to locate a few wild animals.''

''Maybe there aren't many mobs in this region. After all, each match takes place in different dimensions with varying degrees of difficulty. Couldn't that be the difficulty of this region? '' Falco inquired.

''No, I don't think so. If what you said was true, the other team should have had a difficult time finding mobs as well.'' Seraher said.

'Perhaps they have someone on their team with better investigative skills.' Falco had a thought, but kept it to himself for fear of embarrassing himself if he said it out loud.

Falco didn't really need to say that. Seraher had already considered this possibility, but there had to be a lot of mobs in forest-type match zones.

Of course, there were exceptions, but the situation they were in right now made Seraher uneasy. 'Something is wrong. '

''Okay, I'm done.'' Gary put the knife he was holding into his dimensional storage before pointing to the materials on the ground and speaking. ''If it's okay with you, I'll take them and pay your share in gold.''

Hearing this, the team nodded. Since the materials were not rare and Gary did the dismantling, the team did not object and accepted the offer. Since the main currency of the item holders was gold, everything could be sold and bought for gold.

''We will lose if we continue with this pace, we must speed up.'' Seraher was about to turn around and leave after saying that when she was abruptly stopped by another system message.

[Your team gained 1 point.]

[Since you made no contributions to the battle, you won't gain any shared experience.]

''Are you serious?! '' Falco's eyes began to twitch.

''People living in slums are this ferocious these days? '' Leas said, her mouth wide open in surprise.

The group was more shocked than before because they had previously persuaded themselves that the prior incident was just luck. But if the same event occurred twice, it was very difficult to attribute it to pure luck.

''Should we go back and find him? Maybe he can join us.'' Leas asked, looking at Seraher.

''Not necessary. He just seems to have some talent. His encounter with two mobs in a short period of time also shows that he is still lucky. Someone who lacks knowledge and items is useless to us. '' Seraher stated coldly, turned around, and began walking.

''There's no need to think too much about a rookie. He can do whatever he wants as long as he doesn't get in our way. '' Falco said sarcastically, following Seraher.

Leas sighed and thought. 'Why must the children of big families be so ignorant?' She then followed the pair with Gary, who remained perplexed and silent.

Shortly after the group had left the area, a humanoid figure flapped its massive brown wings and landed on a nearby tree, its eagle-like eyes fixed on the group walking away. This person was dressed entirely in black, with only its eyes and beak-like mouth visible.

''We must have overlooked this wolf. Anyway, 1 point won't make a difference, after all they won't be able to finish this match alive. '' He said in a screeching, shrill voice.

''The fifth member of the team is still missing; he must have left earlier. He appears to have already earned 2 points. He must be stronger than the rest of the team since he is hunting alone.''

The wingman extended his hand, and said. ''Summon messenger.''

For a brief moment, a light gathered in his palm, forming a bird.

*Chirp*

The bird sang happily, flapping its cute little wings.

''Go and inform the others. The four-person team is making its way towards the open area ahead. I'll take care of the fifth person. ''

*Chirp-chirp*

The small bird flapped its wings and took off into the sky.

The wingman soon spread his huge wings and looked into the forest with his sharp eyes.

''Hmph, it doesn't matter how strong you are. You won't even see my shadow before you die.'' He flapped his wings and flew away with incredible speed.

[Lv.1 Forest wolf(F-Rank) has been killed.]

[Your team gained 1 point.]

[You gained 10 experience points.]

Raydon rose slowly from the wolf and sat beside it to catch his breath. '' T-these things are r-really fast and agile. ''

He had to kill this wolf with the same tactic he had used to kill the previous one, because his speed was too slow. Regardless of how effective this tactic was, it was tiring him out every time.

''I believe it is time to put my experience points to use. I'm hoping stamina has the same effect as it does in games.''
