Chapter 106 [Bonus ] Another Misunderstanding

Upon hearing this news, Loran was astounded and thought helplessly as he slumped into his chair.

'Who did that idiot offend? What could he have done so foolishly to enrage a high rank that he personally intervened and wiped out an entire region? He was just about to complete his research, and now everything is lost? '

With hope in his voice, Loran asked the man. ''Are you certain there is nothing left?''

He hoped that something remained from Herman's research. Even though he knew it was impossible, he refused to believe that everything had been destroyed.

''I doubt anything was left behind. Only a few slum dwellers were near, but they were ordinary people. We also observed the presence of another item holder of low rank nearby. We were going to look into whether he had any knowledge of the incident, but our superiors told us to stop. Due to the involvement of a high-rank item holder, they didn't want us to look into the matter further. ''

Evidently, not even a large family wanted to interfere in the private affairs of a high-ranking item holder. Additionally, the incident was not located in their own region; rather, it was only close by. Further involvement would have put a high-rank item holder in danger of becoming an enemy, which was not worth it.

There was no hope left for Loran. He would no longer be able to obtain the research results and craft the body enchantment.

''Wait, you said there was another item holder? Do you know who that was?''  While thinking, he stumbled upon this detail.

''Our superiors forbade us from investigating who he was. But he is only a low-level F-Rank in comparison to our investigative skills. Besides, all we know about him is that he lives in the slums not far away from where the incident occurred. '

The man said it as if there was nothing to be suspicious of, but Belicia and Loran already had an idea who this item holder was.

'Living in the slums? Is that Raydon? ' Belicia was aware that Herman's men and Raydon had previously crossed paths, but she had no idea what Raydon had to do with this epic battle.

''Okay, you can leave. ''

''Yes master. '' With the command, the man retreated into the shadows.

Following the departure of the man, the Loran turned to Belicia, who was sitting on the floor with blood on her face and inquired. ''Is that him?''

Despite already knowing the answer, Loran inquired. There could be no other item holder living in that environment besides Raydon without their knowledge.

''I'm not sure,'' Belicia replied, puzzled.

''Did he have a problem with Herman?'' he asked more seriously this time.e.

Belicia paused for a moment before explaining what happened between Raydon and Herman's men, as well as how he saved Rayn. She didn't want to help the monster in front of her, but she didn't have a choice. Even if she doesn't tell, he will eventually figure it out, and she might not be able to protect her brother in this way. Also, there was clearly a big scheme going on, and she wanted to know what it was.

''I see. Everything makes sense now .'' Loran sagged in his chair, rubbing his temples with his hand. He appeared to be utterly depressed.

Belicia had no idea what he was thinking and waited for him to explain. He soon began to speak.

''When you visited him before, did you notice anyone suspicious? '' he questioned.

''No. '' Belicia replied honestly.

''Well, if you could spot a high-rank item holder, that would be odd. ''Sighing, the man continued.

It appears that my stupid brother's awakening wasn't a coincidence. I'm not sure why, but this high-rank item holder must have noticed him and assisted him in awakening. Then that idiot Herman went after my brother for vengeance, and that high-ranker did not remain silent, eliminating Herman as well as his entire territory.'''

When speaking, Loran exuded a lot of assurance. And it was clear that his mood had dipped as he thought about it. Raydon had been crippled some time ago, and now someone with a strength he couldn't even imagine was watching his back.

'What kind of luck is this? How do you get a high-rank item holder's attention and get him to go this far to help you? '

Loran was completely certain of his deductions and did not even consider the possibility that they were all incorrect.

Raydon did indeed kill Herman, but the power that completely wiped out the entire area was simply the result of Herman's experiment. Of course, everyone who didn't know assumed it was the result of a high-rank item holder's skill.

'I'm sure the entire family will find out soon enough. If they discover that Raydon has awakened as an item holder and has a high-ranking supporter, it will be impossible for me to be the family's leader in the future. '

Loran pondered desperately. Raydon had been kicked out of the family because he was crippled, but once they realized he was incredibly strong, they would put him in charge of the family without hesitation. Raydon, of course, would never accept such a thing, but Loran had no idea.

Meanwhile, while Loran was brooding, Belicia was also in her own imaginary world. 'Was he truly Raydon? Indeed, he's awakened because there's a high-rank item holder behind him, huh? So, after Herman received orders from young master Loran and attempted to kidnap Rayn, Raydon most likely asked this high-rank for assistance in saving him? '

Belicia began to cry happily as she continued living in her fantasy, convinced Rayn and the others were secure and wouldn't die because of her.

'I can never pay Raydon back for what I owe him. '

That day, Belicia made a commitment to herself. She would pledge all of her loyalty to Raydon as a battle maid.

When he was making his plans, even Raydon could not have predicted that things would progress to this point. If he were present, he would watch everything in disbelief and grimace.

''Achooo. ''

''What the hell? Am I really getting sick? ''
