Chapter 85 Incoming Outbreak
The following days that led up to the next match were filled with training and more training for Jason and his efforts were rewarded when the manager put his name in the line-up. It wasn't a position in the starting line-up, but it was good enough for Jason as these kinds of things took time.
The manager wouldn't just pick him over more established players at the club just because he had performed well in just one game... actually, the manager could if he had a bias towards the player, but Sergio Conceicao wasn't that kind of manager.
Sergio Conceicao would not just put Jason in the team regardless of the other players' opinions as this could easily cause dissent in the team which was not good for the players' morale and the team's chemistry.
More importantly, the players currently in the line-up had already displayed performances that commanded a place in the team and just removing them from the line-up just to put in Jason who only had a single game under his belt was not exactly a well-calculated move.
Rather it would be more apt to call it a risky move and Jason may not perform at the required level which could cause the team to lose games.
For a manager whose happiness and success depended on good results, there was no way he would make such a move.
The team was already established and Jason had a lot more to do before he could be handed a place in the starting line-up.
Therefore, in the coming future, Jason would at most come off the bench and have a few minutes to make an impact in the game and if he continued to pull out performances like the last match, then it wouldn't be long before he could earn himself a place in the starting line-up.
This got him raised eyebrows from a lot of people, especially Mylo and the guys at the club, but he didn't care to explain and simply continued with what he was doing as he knew that they would also have heard of the disease and the basic steps to avoid contacting it.
If they then decided not to follow the precautions, that was their business and not his, he was not some saint of justice that would keep poking his nose into people's business when they were the ones that stood to gain all the benefits from his intervention.
If they could not make efforts to ensure their own safety, he wasn't going to do it for them... he wasn't even going to speak as it could lead to an argument and Jason had already had enough of conflicts.
Right now, the only thing that bothered Jason was the issue of him trying to change his living location.
Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, he could basically conclude that the streets were no longer as safe as he would like to think and since he was currently doing his best to avoid contracting the disease, then there was no way he would expose himself while looking for a new place to live.
Even worse was his looking for an agent as he knew that picking an agent was not something he could rush, otherwise, what if he ended up with an agent that was crazier than Rico Gulaz?
He wouldn't even know where to cry.
At this point, it seemed that there was only one path forward.
Since the COVID lockdown was inevitable and it was looking less than likely that he would be able to move out of the apartment he shared with Mylo before the lockdown began, then it was probably better if he shifted his attention to preparing for how he could coast through the lockdown without dying of boredom and still be able to continue his training.
After all, he had already completed his major objective of joining the team before the lockdown began and he had even gone a step further and was already almost a part of the starting line-up.
