Max appeared on a steam train. Loud noises of the engine reached his ear as black smoke rose from the funnel at the frontmost of the train.
It was the type of transport train, as the corpse of a monster resembling a large ox with a rock body was tied at the end of the train. Many people holding weapons larger than their bodies stood around a table, drinking merrily over their successful raid.
Looking at himself, he also found out he had a large sword slung over his shoulder. The reflection from the glass next to him told him that his character used his Lobby's avatar as a base, and he was draped in animal fur and leather clothes. It looked thick and strong.
'This is amazing.'
Max balled his fist, which was covered with leather gloves.
"Damn, I look cool!" He exclaimed with a grin on his face.
— Mercenary Breeze! He looks cool
— Goddamnit, whether he's in a suit, in a jacket, or even armor, he somehow makes them look good
— The long sword on his back looks great
— ******* Breeze!
— lol got censored. I bet he's about to say kiska$$ or bada$$
— Damn, man! That looks great!
— kyaa Breeze! Hug me in that armor!
Everyone agreed with it. Whether they were men or women, all of them agreed that Max looked cool in the armor.
However, Max could only enjoy it for a second as the game had started.
"Everyone, please gather!"
A man with a rough face raised his voice as he leaned against the table. His hair reached his shoulders, and the claw scar on his bare body made him look scarier. He quickly scanned the room with his sharp eyes, and the other mercenaries closed the table immediately.
— Caesar!
— That's Caesar bro! Yooo! He looks as fierce as ever!
— The fiercest mercenary ever!
— Forget Hutch, I want to be bred by Caesar!!
— Lol, this guy is still here. I thought he was gone after breeding Hutch!
— People are... people... They are strange...
— Jungle... Will Breeze turn into a jungle boy now?
— I can't wait to see what kind of shiet Breeze will do to the freakin monsters now
Just like the chat, Max was also blown away by the views. However, his enjoyment only lasted a few seconds.
A soaring pain hit his shoulder as he felt something pushed him from behind. When he looked back, he noticed Caesar's hand was extended at him. That was what caused the pain.
'Goddamn, just a little push felt like I was being hit by a ball that flew 200KM/H.'
He looked at Caesar in complaint, but the NPC ignored him and pointed in a certain direction to the other side of the mountain on the right.
"Your target, Garrador, is there. You will find a tiny monster that looks like a goose. I am sure your rotten brain won't mistake it once you see it. Heh."
The giant smirked, patting him on the shoulder. This time, he felt as if a large sack was put on top of his body, and it almost caused him to stumble.
Seeing him in trouble, Caesar waved that hand while walking away.
"Good luck, newbie. Don't die on your first hunt."
Max kept standing still and watched as the giant broke into a run. The ground under him cracked, and a sonic thud resounded in the surroundings. In just a few seconds, he was already gone from Max's sight, entering the dense vegetation.
He was too stupefied to move. But then, he remembered that he had a game quest already.
"Alright." He pumped himself up and grinned at the camera. "Shall we find this Garrador and kill it? Because it looks like a goose, it won't be scary at all, no?"
— Yeah... pfft
— Goose, Caesar said
— Did you see when he broke into the run? The ground was cracked, dude!
— Caesar was inhuman. Calling Garrador tiny, lol
— I wonder how Breeze will react when he sees Garrador
— It seems Breeze didn't watch any Mercenary Quest's gameplay yet. This would be funny.
Oblivious to some of the chat, Max proceeded to his destination pointed out by Caesar. His heart was beating in excitement.
After a long time grinding Midnight Heist, he could finally feel the thrill of a game again. He took a peek at the chat after the train behind him was out of sight, and they also seemed to look forward to it, especially since he was a hundred percent oblivious to this game.
It reminded him of his first stream in Knight's Journey, where he enjoyed the exploration of the unknown.
'A new game after a long time, and a monster hunting on top of that. This would be exciting.'
