Hearing Max's laughter, the other immediately moved and went to the North wall. Ferin was the fastest among them, and she used her grappling gun to drop down on the other side before rushing fearlessly to the horde of cockroaches.
She cocked the shotgun and pulled the trigger twice. The buckshot spread wildly, and each time she pulled the trigger, five to ten cockroaches burst disgustingly at once. Their green blood sprayed everywhere.
In this game, this was the only unrealistic thing. Those creatures usually didn't die this easily. However, it was also what made people like this game. They could vent their anger without minding the repercussions. They could kill the immortal insect.
"Don't get too far, Ferin!" Flexy, who arrived together with Atlas and began his bombardment, warned the girl. "Especially, don't get into Breeze's line of fir–"
Bam!
Before the orange-haired streamer could finish his sentence, Max pulled the trigger of his sniper rifle and sent another energy bullet flying. It was the last shot of this magazine. The energy magazine dimmed, losing its light.
"Sorry, continue." He said to his friend as he changed the magazine skillfully as if he had done it many times before.
Flexy looked at him for a second before turning around. He saw Ferin enter the horde already, and he grimaced slightly.
"Forget it. It's too late." He said. "We can only cover for her now. Don't let her die."
"Leave that to me," Atlas spoke from the side. His gun kept firing energy bullets without stopping. Each of these bullets hit the roaches that almost hit Ferin precisely.
"At! I love you!" Ferin, who noticed his support, shouted from afar. She continued massacring the cockroaches without any mercy. A feral smile adorned her beautiful face behind the visor as she danced among the disgusting creatures.
Showing a smile on his face, the blond-haired man spoke.
"We've been teaming up together for a few years now. I can support her myself. Please focus on eradicating the incoming enemies."
Bam!
"Should we go and find the wave boss now? We finished faster than expected, so it might haven't spawned yet. But nothing is wrong with splitting up to cover up a larger area." He suggested.
"Splitting up?"
Flexy muttered, touching his helmet and falling into a deep thought. He was thinking about the pros and cons of splitting up to find the wave boss.
"Isn't that a very dangerous thing to do? Our enemies aren't just those roaches. There are also other players covering them."
"That's why it's better to split up." Atlas reasoned, "If we're alone, then we can hide in a place that normally we couldn't use due to our numbers. I only suggest this. The final decision is with you, the leader."
Once again, Flexy fell into a deep thought. It was risky, yes. But, was the efficiency at finding the boss increased? That was also yes.
Looking at the two teammates in front of him, he finally arrived at a decision.
"Alright, let's split up. But keep the communication open." He said. "And please record everything so we can use it to discuss what we lack later."
"Of course." Atlas nodded.
"Understood!" Ferin exclaimed.
After getting confirmation from them, Flexy turned to Max. Before the orange-haired streamer could say anything, Max grinned and raised his hand.
"I will prepare the mags needed for the next wave. And don't worry about the players. I would be able to see them before they could see me." He confidently said, "If the boss appears near the base, rush back immediately. I don't think I would be able to defeat it myself on the first try."
Max probably would've thought otherwise if this game was a hack-and-slash genre. But facing a giant cockroach with a sniper rifle was... Well, to put it bluntly, something he didn't want to do. The smaller ones were still alright, and players were welcome to become a good target practice.
But the boss...
'Only the boss is something I don't want to fight directly unless I am forced to.'
