Max and the other two returned to the base right before the second wave began.
Standing inside the base and moving more magazines to the wall, Flexy welcomed them with a wide grin and annoying laugh. This orange-haired streamer had regained his vigor after finding out their skills.
While they wanted to celebrate that they had annihilated 3 teams and even killed the first wave's boss, giving them a total bonus of 1600 annihilation points, they still had to protect their base from the second wave.
The second wave was similar to the first one, save for the number of roaches that doubled. There were no mutated cockroaches yet. They would only appear from wave 3 onward.
It was said onward because the match would only be over when only one team was left. Until then, the waves would keep coming.
The interval of the incoming wave would also decrease until there was the famous 10th wave, called the infinite wave. Cockroaches would keep coming without an end. Normal and mutated cockroaches and the boss wave would join to attack the remaining bases.
But that only happened when all teams were strong enough to protect their bases. Not even professional gamers could defend their base up to that point. The mental and physical exhaustion that gathered before reaching 10th wave was really taxing.
In fact, in this current game, there were only 5 teams left. Save for the three that their team destroyed, two other teams seemed to meet unfortunate accidents or got annihilated by the others.
"The 2nd wave is here! It came from the south!"
With Flexy's south, everyone began to move. Like before, Ferin confronted the wave directly while wielding her shotgun. Everytime she shot, she cocked it back with a graceful movement, as if she was dancing.
The other provided support, and Max destroyed the incoming roaches before they could even reach Ferin with his sniper rifle.
It took approximately 8 minutes for them to deal with the 2nd wave. Following that was the boss hunt like before, with Max protecting the base.
He was prepared to provide support and scout the North area. This time, there were a few cockroaches trying to approach the base due to their increased numbers, but he blasted them all away easily.
After noticing that something similar happened from the other direction, he began his patrol around the wall, blasting everything he saw moving. There was no discrimination.
Had he known this, he would have just streamed the first game earlier. But it couldn't be helped. It was urgent.
'I guess I will stop Mercenary Quest until the end of May.' He thought. 'Let's focus on Midnight Heist and this Roach Planet.'
"But from the 15th to 18th I can only practice at night due to the Midnight Heist's tournament." He continued.
"I am aware of that, so I don't mind." Flexy nodded.
"I also don't mind. Rather, I can finish a lot of jobs and ad shoots at that time! That will keep me free from the 19th onward until the competition day." Ferin exclaimed excitedly, "As for At... He's jobless when we had no couple to shoot, so he's pretty much free."
"While that's the truth, it's a bit hurt when you're so honest, Fer." Atlas laughed bitterly, "But yes, just as she said. I only need some time on the 28th and 29th in the morning to deal with something."
"That's okay." Flexy said, "As long as you're free in the morning of 30, because we have a joint practice with other teams that joined the competition at that time. It's an offline joint at New Eden City."
Holding his chin, Atlas seemed to consider something. A little bit later, he nodded and looked at Flexy.
"I should be able to finish my stuff before that."
"Great." Flexy smiled brightly.
Seeing that everything was settled and scheduled, Ferin clapped her hands to get our attention—an impatient expression was written on her face.
"Now that's settled, I really need to go! See you again, Breeze, leader!"
After that, she pulled Atlas' arm and disappeared from the bar together. Max was left alone with Flexy, and they both looked at each other.
"Now what?"
