Chapter 273: Chapter 273 – Third and the Most Exciting Match

Second wave.

"I am going."

Max left after the wave ended, positioned himself a bit away from the wave boss, and stole the kill.

[Team OrangeSquash has killed the second wave's boss.]

[300 Annihilation Points have been rewarded.]

An SR proved to be really good at annoying other teams from afar. After he got the boss killed, Max also managed to down one team and made them run for their money as other teams tried to annihilate them.

Third wave.

A similar thing happened. Once again, Max stole the kill and gained 500 annihilation points. This time, every enemy around the boss was furious and desperately chased after him. The orange spacesuit proved to be a hindrance to his hiding and let him almost get downed.

Fortunately, he was able to run away by confusing them with a boulder formation. The fourth wave was about to start, and so the enemies were forced to retreat.

When he reached the base, the first thing he did was pat Flexy's shoulder with a serious expression.

"Tell the sponsor to allow us to wear gray spacesuits and put their logo on our back. It will make their logo pop up more."

"Why?"

"Do you need an explanation?" Max only pointed at his arms, which had a burned trace from getting grazed by bullets.

Laughing, Flexy scratched his cheek, "I will try."

On the fourth wave... The enemies became cautious. They cleared the area around the boss first before tackling it. Four teams had been eliminated by now, including MWRifle at the start.

Survival points from the first to fourth wave had been accumulated for at least 2000 points. All surviving teams had the same survival points by now.

As for annihilation points...

1. OrangeSquash: 3729 annihilation points.

The orange team managed to accumulate way more than the other teams due to Max stealing the last wave boss kill, and Atlas had three teams' annihilation worth of points. Most teams fell when they tackle the wave boss.

Identifying them was easy. Max only needed to look at their team badge, which was located on the players' upper arms and backpack. It was usually hard to identify them, but he had a sniper rifle scope that allowed him to see it.

Using that mark, Max informed Atlas and sent him as a hitman to assassinate the last person surviving on the base. Unfortunately, one of the teams used a suicide strategy and got annihilated by another team. That team was Team Vorpal, and he regretted not killing that blond-haired bastard then.

Amidst the confusion, Max dealt with the fourth-wave boss before retreating to his base.

Fifth wave. No one tried to kill the wave boss. It was a survival time. Max couldn't kill the fifth wave boss alone without any help. Not even an SR was enough due to its hard shell.

Besides...

From afar, two wave boss monsters appeared. From their sizes alone, Flexy deduced their levels.

"It's the sixth and eighth wave bosses! Just a little more, and we can sweep the eighth wave clean! Why do they appear now?"

Their luck had run out. This meant the seventh wave boss went to the MiceMice team, considering the eliminated team killed the fifth wave boss.

This moment was important for them. If they could hold on a little longer, the MiceMice team would surely be eliminated.

"I have an idea." Atlas suddenly said and he stopped shooting. He stood on the edge of the wall and prepared to jump. "Both of you can handle the rest of the cockroaches, right? There are only around a thousand left. And if you can, please open the path for me."

Without saying anything, Max and Flexy knew what he planned.

"Yeah, go for it," Max said as he threw a grenade and shot his sniper three times in a row.

Explosions followed suit, and a path clear of the cockroaches was created. Atlas grinned and jumped down, sliding down the wall to reduce the impact.

The blond-haired man ran toward the bosses and shot his Rifle at them to gain their attention. With a precise aim, he managed to hit their eyes, aggroed them, and ran toward the direction opposite the base.

The bosses opened their wings and flew, chasing after Atlas. This would give them time, for sure. When Lily returned, Max explained what happened in a few words and asked her to help defend the base.

A few minutes passed, and the eighth wave was cleared. In a few seconds, the ninth wave would arrive. At this moment, Atlas' voice rang through the communication device.

(We win.)

Atlas' vital sign turned black as soon as he said that.

Max and the others couldn't understand it at first, but the notification made it clear.

[Team MiceMice has been annihilated by a swarm of cockroaches.]

[Match Over.]

Following the announcement was the ranking of each team. And based on the combined points...

1. OrangeSquash (+5 points)

2. MiceMice (+4 points)

They managed to sit on top of the ranking while breaking their record of surviving the eighth wave.

"YEAAAHH!"

"We won!"

"Huh?!"

Flexy shouted loudly while letting his machine gun rampage, shooting it toward the sky. Meanwhile, Lily jumped toward Max and hugged him. Her happiness made her forget where they were.

No need to mention it... Lily's face flushed pretty red when she climbed out of the VR Capsule, and she was unable to look at Max for a while.
