The crossed sword mark was located 150 meters away from the previous lightning trial. Max already had an idea of what kind of trial and game they had to finish in order to get the next slate.
Following the animal trail proved to be the correct choice. All trails were connected from one mark to another. Choosing the straight path would only slow them down.
Unlike the lightning mark earlier, the double cross sword was pretty easy to spot.
"Whoa... This is amazing."
"Un. It looks like a pyramid without the tip."
What waited for them in the next mark was a large structure made from rock blocks, with stairs on each side heading to the top, which looked like a large square area. The crossed sword mark floated right above that square area.
There was nothing else around them, and the trial hadn't started yet, even when they got close to the building.
"It seems we need to go to the top and trigger the notification first." Max guessed based on the situation and his game knowledge.
"Maybe. Want to take a look?"
"Sure."
They began to climb the stairs slowly. There was no notification yet, so they proceeded to the top of the structure. When they reached the top, the structure suddenly shook as if an earthquake had shaken it.
"What the–?"
"Hya!" Lily lost her balance due to the unexpected shake, but Max was able to catch her and pulled her into an embrace.
"Are you okay?" He asked worriedly.
"Un. I am fine." She answered as she backed away.
— SHOW OFF!
— Tsk, should I take my voodoo doll back from the trash?
— Now I am considering getting a girlfriend too. Who wants to be with me? I am half as handsome as Breeze
— Cough, just half?
— Bro has no confidence lol
The shaking stopped after a few seconds. Max regained his composure and looked around. When he did that, he noticed that the stairs behind him were gone, and the structure became taller than before, jutting out to the sky like a tower.
Following that, the notification rang.
"I guess we can't turn back." He said as he peered down with Lily. "It's so high. Probably around 30 meters? We would die if we fell. Like... splat. Yeah, that's not a good idea."
"I don't want to be splattered."
"Right?" He said.
He turned around and looked at the pedestal in the middle of the structure.
"And that's the slate we're searching for. Is it chicken?"
"Seems like so." Lily narrowed her eyes to look at it better, "Want to take it? There seems to be no trap."
— Still, can LilyPixel climb down the wall with him?
— You must be new. Lemme tell you a story...
— No need. LilyPixel can move as crazy as Breeze. She's that talented. They are just too scary
"Climb down the wall?" She asked with sparkling eyes, her interest was piqued. "Can we do that without any equipment?"
"We can. I will instruct you and use this chance to teach my chat, too."
"If you say so. Please teach me. It sounds... interesting."
"Alright. Let me show you how it's done, then."
Saying so, he went to the edge of the structure and looked down. It was a bit scary. Just thinking about what would happen if he felt adrenaline pumped into his blood. There was nothing more exciting than the thrill of the extreme sport.
'If only this is in real life...' He thought, but he immediately shook his head. 'No, I shouldn't do that. I will worry Lily if I do this in real life. Yes, the VR world is good enough.'
A shame, but he didn't want to risk it too much like in his past life. He was satisfied with his current life. Not to mention, there was also a VR world where he could experience everything with just a slight difference.
"First of all..." He spoke loudly to distract himself from useless thoughts and got into the real business. "Throw your bag down."
He threw his backpack without hesitation. It soared in the air and hit the ground with a thud. After it landed safely, Max looked at the camera and spoke.
"That's the first step. By calculating the weight and the speed of the bag, we know how tall this tower is. All equipment in the bag and the backpack itself is around 1 KG, and it reached the ground in less than 5 seconds. With the gravity being 10m/s, you can just count it yourself."
— Yeah, we don't know.
— Isn't that like around 50 meters?

— How can he calculate it like that? I mean, I am not confident saying my backpack is 1KG
— Tell us how you do it.
"It's easy." He smirked as he prepared to go down the tower. "I just lied to you guys."
— This MF
— WTF
— I trusted you!
— How could you betray us like this... I thought we were friends...
— Lying is easy. Indeed.
"Anyway, that is that, and this is this. You need to slowly grip the edge of the structure like this and lower your body. Let yourself hang for a few seconds and get comfortable with it."
Max moved as he explained how to do it to his viewers and Lily. He hung on the edge of the structure and looked up at Lily, who was peering at him.
"Do you think you can do it?"
Nodding, she replied, "I can try."
