Jane was salivating, and Kyle knew he had to feed her. He couldn't say no to her, not when she was looking at him like that.
Kyle chuckled because, considering her personality, he didn't expect this reaction, but this only told him how good his food was if it made her act out of character.
"Fine, fine!" Kyle conceded and a bright crease on her innocent face.
It was funny because Jane was older than Calista, but she was clearly less exposed to certain things. That couldn't be helped, considering her reclusiveness.
Kyle served her a plate while the rest of the stew remained on the stove, cooking.
He served just enough to satisfy her immediate craving but not to fill her belly.
Kyle placed it on the table in the other room and Jane sat to eat.
Kyle returned to the kitchen to add a few more secret sauces but he couldn't help occasionally glancing over at Jane to see how she reacted.
Kyle had been complimented a lot recently but these were the little things that one couldn't lie about.
Jane didn't know he was watching her otherwise she wouldn't be eating like a zombie that finally got its hands on some brain.
Kyle smirked before shaking his head in disbelief.
"What's her deal," Kyle muttered but his voice could only be heard by him.
He left the kitchen two minutes later but Jane's plate was empty.
She looked embarrassed because this must not show Kyle that she was classy.
"I must either be a very good cook or you must be one hungry girl," Kyle joked about the situation.
He thought about ordering food, that would have been a much easier route but cooking for her had a better chance of establishing a core memory.
And the chances of a man ever doing this for her were exponentially low.
Kyle would never do this for Calista, she wasn't worth the effort in hindsight and there was no need to try to establish any sort of core memory with someone that could be bought.
"I-I enjoyed it, thank you," Jane whimpered, her hands clutching her dress.
"I'm glad to hear that, babe," Kyle responded but the moment she heard that word, babe.
The pace at which her heart beat not only increased but her body temperature rose alongside it.
"He just called me babe!" Jane thought to herself, frozen in place as Kyle took the plate seated in front of her and returned to the kitchen.
Jane immediately took out her phone and sent Ella a message to update her on how things were going with Kyle but she didn't get a reply right away.
"Look at Miss Competitive!" Kyle exclaimed before matching her energy.
This too was done in a few minutes but Kyle went all out, he didn't plan on letting her win which meant that she only won because she simply had a bigger stomach than Kyle.
Kyle was surprised that she ate that much but her stomach looked like it was about to rip through her dress.
This was why a flare dress was good, it gave her stomach freedom to expand without restricting her breathing but Jane's stomach wasn't the only one that suffered this fate because Kyle's stomach was just as big.
"I think we may have overdone it," Kyle commented and this made Jane laugh.
Sometimes, it felt like he was clueless because there was no way she would have eaten this much if he hadn't proposed the challenge.
Kyle looked at her stomach before looking at his.
Jane got a little self-conscious and her body language showed it as she subtly redirected her body to face away from Kyle.
She was a victim of bullying and even though she had grown out of that phase, trauma wasn't something people heal from that easily.
Kyle began to rub his stomach before gesturing for Jane to do the same.
Jane found this strange, she not only expected Kyle to order food for them but be eager to take off her clothes.
That's how it was with the movies and comics she had consumed. Men are portrayed as people that couldn't just wait to stick their penis into any hole.
They were in no condition to have sex either because they had eaten way too much and needed to wait for the food to digest properly or they risked getting a stomach ache.
This meant that the next course of action would be to watch television. Kyle had a smart TV so they could stream movies from Disney, and Netflix among other services.
Jane now had a choice to make and the pressure weighed on her shoulders because she could pick any show/movie but what if Kyle didn't like it?
She didn't know the kind of movies he liked because Kyle never gave a specific answer to this question plunging her into the dark.
"Marvel movies? He should like that, right? No.. He would have already seen them!" Jane thought to herself. Kyle noticed her panic but pretended not to as this would only make her panic all the more.
But he didn't need to speak because Jane made a decision, if they were going to watch any movie it would be one that she liked or they would be no use in her winning the eating contest.
"Oh my, isn't that..." Kyle muttered to himself but there was nothing wrong with the movie.
It was an R-rated movie but it was a romcom, one that he had heard about but never got around to watching.
Jane stiffened up the moment she hit play only to feel Kyle close the distance between them while wrapping his arm around her waist.
This felt different from when they kissed, maybe it was because the thought of sex was the only thing that she could think about at this moment.
She couldn't push it out of her head but that was one thing that couldn't happen in their current state giving her some peace of mind. Not because she didn't want it but because she was anxious about the act itself–it was her first time after all.
