Chapter 481: Bloodline curse
Nick sighed when he noticed this and was conflicted since on one hand he felt a bit bad that he kept forgetting to look into her families curse. On the other hand however it was her faith in him to be able to just casually find a cure for it that set a dangerous precedent. If he did indeed create a cure then she may develop absolute faith in his capabilities which is very bad should she be put in a life threatening situation in the future. Nicks solution to the problem was quite simple really as he merely needed to find the cure and then sneakily implant it into a mediwitches head as a sort of spark of inspiration.-The initial instance of this chapter being available happened at N0v3l.Bin.
In that case he will seemingly have nothing to do with the cure at all and thus there will be no reason for Daphne to develop that dangerous mindset. He even had the perfect target in mind for the information after he figured it out , Madam Pomphrey. The schools resident mediwitch was likely the one currently treating the symptoms of the curse on a regular basis. She also already most likely had the required knowledge to find a cure but hadn't been able to so. It would take a small nudge with legilimency to convince her she figured it out on her own as a result.-
The reverse curse technique was one of the first things Slytherins books spoke of on the topic in great detail and the effects of the curse were observable by Nick fulfilling two of the three requirements. The final one needed to be fulfilled in order for Nick to create the counter curse that he would sneakily feed to Madam Pomphrey who was definitely trying to figure it out herself already. With all this in mind Nick stored away Daphne's gift and moved on to the rest.-
Lupin got Nick a copy of the marauders map he made just for him which was nice but functionally useless for him. Sirius on the other hand just directly sent Nick an earth fire seed which was actually useful to Nick since it will let him create an earth fire atronach. Earth fire was a sort of magical flame found within active volcanoes or deep beneath the ground that added a high adaptability to whatever it was added to. Nick even had a sneaking suspicion that it was what Godrick Gryffindor's sword was forged in that allowed it to devour the properties of things that would strengthen it.-
He couldn't prove it of course since the sword was lost to time and hadn't manifested from the sorting hat since Nick derailed the hell out of the canon events of the second year. Other than that point in time there had been no occasion by which it needed to manifest so it sat within the hat to this very day. Thinking of the sword Nick found it a bit ironic that Slytherins pet would have been done in by his best friends weapon had Nick not intervened.
