Chapter 217: Ability Values (1)
I made arrangements with Elder and General from Rosenheim and was granted an audience with the King of Latash.
“When is the audience?”
“The Latash Kingdom says it will take ten days to receive His Majesty’s audience.”
(Ten days. Because immediately after Rosenheim declared the end of the war, Rosenheim’s heavyweights arrived in Latash Kingdom?)
Rosenheim declared its victory over the Demon King’s Army and the end of the war not only internally, but also to the entire world through the Five Continents Alliance.
The total number of the Demon King’s army’s troops that attacked in the war reached 7 million, and the Demon Generals also participated to capture Rosenheim. But almost all of them were defeated by the and Rosenheim formally announced that they had received help from the Hero Helmios in the final stages of the war.
Note that the Demon General was formerly a Dark Elf wwas not announced.
I had been told by the Queen that it is a matter between the Elves and the Dark Elves, and that it wasn’t to be made public. I also had not intention to go around spreading the word.
(If possible, I’d like to solve this on my own.)
As I looked at Sophie, I remembered what the Elf Queen had told me.
‘This war has ended, but not all of the problems have been solved.
‘On the continent of the Confederacy, south of Rosenheim, there is a small country created by the Dark Elves.’
The Queen also said something about starting diplomatic talks with that country.
“10 days? Then, I would like to be able to arrive at the Royal Capital the day before that.”
I said, and General Lucidral and the Elder nodded.
“Allen, what are we going to do the next ten days?”
Cecile asked me about our plans.
“Naturally, we’ll conquer dungeons. We can’t enter the Royal Castle as Level 1s, right?”
“What are you trying to do to His Majesty the King?”
Cecile sighed and was taken aback by my words.
“That depends on what they do. Ah, Principal, can I borrow that black board you used in the Appraisal Ceremony?”
My friends were Level 1.
We had just arrived at the Academy City from Rosenheim a day, so we weren’t able to do anything.
“Hmm? You’re doing an appraisal?”
The Principal, who had no idea that my friends had changed Talent, questioned why the appraisal was necessary.
“Yes. I want to appraise my friends, can I?”
“I don’t mind.”
(Well, I can calculate their ability values by calculating their rate of growth as they level up, but I want to know early if possible. If they grow differently from what I expect, I’ll have to change my strategy and tactics.)
It was the end of March and the entrance exams for that Academy year had already started.
I wanted use a set of tools necessary for the Appraisal Ceremony.
I could have had the appraisal done in Rosenheim, but I wanted to leave Rosenheim as soon as possible, so I decided to have it done at the Academy.
The President left his office to instructed the examiners to appraise my friends and me.
The Principal returned shortly after and said that he had made the appraisal available in one of the designated rooms.
“So, General Lucidral, Elder Philamer, thank you for coming. I will see you in Royal Capital.”
“Mm.”
With that, my friends and I left the President’s office, leaving the President, General Lucidral, and Elder Philamer behind.
(I guess we won’t get a Graduation Ceremony. Well, we are not regular graduates.)
Students could graduate from the Academy after they completed three years of classes and complete the tasks common to all Academies.
It was the official way of graduation, and at the end of the day, all the students were gathered in the auditorium for the Graduation Ceremony, where the Principal handed each student their certificate.
There were such rituals, but I’d rather go to the dungeon and raise my level than do that. I asked my friends if they wanted to receive a certificate from the Principal, but Cecile said it was too late. It seemed that my friends had already strayed far from the bounds of common sense.
We entered the room the Principal had told us to go to.
There was a jet-black board, a crystal, and a single person who appeared to be the examiner standing there, waiting.
“Sorry to bother you.”
“No, no. It’s okay. Anyone of you may start.”
It was a sudden request, but he seemed to be willing to accommodate.
I wanted to go through everyone’s appraisals as fast as I could.
Every time the results of the appraisal was shown, the examiner was shocked.
[Name] Kurena
[Strength] S
[Mana] B
[Attack] S
[Endurance] S
[Agility] A
[Intelligence] B
[Luck] A
[Mana] S
[Attack] C
[Endurance] C
[Agility] A
[Intelligence] S
[Luck] A
[Talent] Summoner
“Helmios said the truth.”
“Oh, he did say that your ability values were similar to a Grand Mage’s when you met for the first time.”
(Probably, there is usually a Grand Mage among his party members.)
“But what do you mean, up to Level 60?”
“Oh, that, take a look.”
When I said that, I put my hand on the crystal.
It glowed more intensely than anyone else, and the appraisal result was displayed on the jet-black board, but all the ability values were E.
“Same as always.”
“But this takes into account my growth rate from when I was Level 1. If you only take into account the increase in status after I reached Level 61, it would look like this.”
To make it easier to visualize, I displayed my ability values on the Grimoire to my his friends.
[Name] Allen (level 61 and up)
[Strength] S+
[Mana] SS
[Attack] A
[Endurance] A
[Agility] S+
[Intelligence] SS
[Luck] S+
[Talent] Summon
“What the hell is this!? Some are higher than S!”
Dogora reacted.
My ability values were much higher than my friends’.
“Yeah, I told you a little bit about this before, but after Level 61, my status increases doubled. All my stats used to go up by 40 at max, but now they go up more than 40, except for [Attack] and [Endurance].”
“You’re awesome.”
Dogora praised me as normal.
My stats increased at a constant rate up to Level 60, but from Level 61, the increase in all stats doubled.
That probably was a result of going beyond Normal Mode.
(When my Level reaches higher than the Level Cap of Extra Mode, while the increase in status per Level get doubled again? So, I’m not even at the threshold of Hell Mode yet?)
“Allen, you look happy.”
“Oh, Kurena. I feel like I am finally starting to reach somewhere. Kurena, you need change your Talent and Mode soon and get even stronger.”
“Yes!”
I couldn’t help but feel excited, as if I had just completed the First Level of a game.
I hoped that Kurena, who had become a 4-star Sword King, would soon reach Hero Helmios’ level, before he changed his Talent to Hero King.
I checked Helmios’ ability values that I recorded when I forced him to take the Appraisal Ceremony.
[Name] Helmios
[Strength] S
[Mana] A
[Attack] S
[Endurance] S
[Agility] S
[Intelligence] A
[Luck] A
[Talent] Hero
(At least Kurena can reach this level of ability. Now it’s just a question of whether she can surpass S in Normal Mode.)
I didn’t know of any examples of status increases exceeding 40 except from my Level 61 and onwards. I wanted to explore that area as well.
“Well, let’s go back to the hotel today and start conquering dungeons tomorrow.”
“”Oh!””
After successfully graduating from the Academy, Allen and his friends resume their new activities.
Translator’s Thoughts
I don’t know if I have already mentioned this before, but I am mentioning it again. I have changed Hard Mode to Extra Mode as Extra Skill give access to that Mode.
