Chapter 56 - One Bed

Name:Help...My Wife is a Spy Author:Yunyi
Jackson smirked. "I prepared a bed for you," he replied as he grabbed Halia's hand and dragged her towards a door. He knew what Halia was thinking, so he deliberately teased her.

Behind the door was a room that was previously used as an office. Jackson had removed everything inside and replaced it with a bed.

One big bed!

"Is there only one bed?" Halia asked.

Jackson nodded his head. "I didn't know until yesterday that you would be helping me, so I didn't have time to prepare another bed," he said with amus.e.m.e.nt in his eyes.

Halia panicked. Sure, she had to admit that she was attracted to this man, but sharing a bed would be going too far! She had surrendered to her feelings earlier and kissed him, but nothing was official. Plus, she knew it wasn't likely that anything serious would result between them.

"I'm not that kind of woman," she said as she glanced at the man next to her.

Jackson's lips curved upwards slightly. "What kind of woman?" he asked.

Halia blushed, "I've never shared a bed with a man before."

Jackson covered his mouth and laughed. Why was this woman so cute?

That's when Halia realized, Jackson had been toying with her. With an angry glare, she raised her right fist to punch the man in the chest, but he quickly blocked it and grabbed hold of her wrist. Halia responded by throwing another punch with her left fist, but the man dodged to the side and grabbed onto that wrist as well. He swiftly pulled both her hands behind her back and held them tightly in place. Unable to use her hands, Halia tried to step on the man's foot, but with one fluid motion, the man sweeped her off her feet and carried her in his arms.

Halia looked up at the man in surprise as he smiled at her playfully. Sure, she wasn't a black belt, but she had undergone martial arts training in the police academy, how did this man counter her moves so easily?

Jackson laughed and gently placed Halia on the bed. He then leaned forward and placed a kiss on her forehead. Halia was surprised by this sudden gentle action. She looked into his eyes and felt a warm, caring vibe. Even though she was lying vulnerably on a bed, she felt surprisingly safe. Jackson carefully brushed some hair away from her right ear and leaned forward again. Halia felt a million tingles course through her body like a ripple of electricity. What was this man doing?

Suddenly, she heard a deep and charming voice beside her ear, "I've never shared a bed a with a woman either."

Halia felt the man's gentle breaths beside her ear and it made her heart race.

At that moment, some footsteps could be heard coming from outside. It was Max. He had arrived with lunch.

Max was a huge foodie and knew where all the best food in Beijing was (it kinda explained his figure). On that particular day, he had visited three restaurants to get takeaway, hoping that Jackson and Halia would find something that suited their pallet.

He peeked into the room to look for the two and saw them in an ambiguous position on the bed. Quickly covering his eyes, he said, "Boss, I left the food on the table. I didn't mean to disturb you. I'll be leaving right away!"

"Max, wait!" Halia quickly cried out as she sat up. She then stepped off the bed and ran over to her handbag.

"Can you pop by my apartment to feed my dog?" she asked as she handed the man her keys.

Max quickly grabbed the keys and nodded his head, "Yes, Sister-in-law!"

He then glanced at Jackson awkwardly before he ran up the stairs and out of the lab.

Halia blushed and turned to look at Jackson. The man was now sitting on the edge of the bed with a cheeky smile, swinging his legs like he was watching a show.

"Why does everyone have such dirty thoughts?" he asked.

He then pointed to a wardrobe beside Halia, gesturing for her to open it. Halia looked at Jackson with curiosity, but did as she was told. Inside the wardrobe was a pillow, a blanket and a sleeping bag.

"I won't tease you anymore. I'm sleeping in that for the next few days," the man explained as he pointed to the sleeping bag in Halia's hand.

Halia looked at the sleeping bag and a relieved smile appeared on her face.

At that moment, Jackson stood up from the bed and started walking out of the room. "Let's eat," he said as he brushed past.

Halia nodded her head and followed the man out...
