Chapter 96 - Logic Finally Takes Over

"Are you OK?" Emerson asked inside the elevator.

Halia gripped onto the jacket around her shoulder and looked up at the man.

"Yes, I'm fine. Thank you for your jacket," she replied.

Since they were already in the elevator together and Halia wanted to question the man she decided to invite him up to her suite.

"Would you like to come up for some tea before you go? That way I can return your jacket after I get changed," she offered.

The man's heart skipped a beat as he looked at the gorgeous woman in front of him. A lot of things could happen between a man and a woman inside a hotel suite.

Trying to maintain his composure, he gently nodded his head.

Soon, the elevator arrived on the 26th floor - the very top of the building - and Halia went to open the big majestic double door to the Peninsula Suite.

Inside, the lights were off in the living room, but a slight glow came from the bedroom. Halia assumed Sean had dropped Natalie off and left, but she had no idea he was still inside taking care of her friend.

She quickly searched for a light switch and lit up the palatial style suite with a beautiful chandelier that hung from the double-heighted ceiling. In front of her was a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows that looked out onto the spectacular Victoria Harbour and the luxurious Chesterfield sofa in the living room, provided the best view of the city.

"Nice place you have here," Emerson said with a slight smile as he walked in behind Halia.

"Show yourself around, I'll go get changed," Halia smiled back.

Emerson looked at the woman with a desirous gaze.

"The last time I saw you, we were 15. How old are you now?" he asked gently as he brushed a loose hair out of her face.

"I just turned 27 a few days ago," Halia replied as she quickly neatened her hair so the man didn't have to.

"Do you know how happy I am to see you again?" Emerson asked.

Halia looked into the man's eyes and felt herself stop breathing. There was an odd familiarity to him. Perhaps, it was because they had met when they were kids.

"I'm going to go get changed," she quickly said as she cleared her throat and rushed into her bedroom.

The man smiled and went to look out the window.

Inside the ensuite bathroom of the bedroom, Sean was standing shirtless beside the sink. A moment ago, just before Halia returned, Natalie had vomited all over his shirt. As he had the tap on when Halia opened the door, he did not hear her enter. Now that he had washed all the vomit off, he left his shirt to soak in some soap for a little while, hoping to make it smell a little nicer.

As he dried his hands, he suddenly heard some shuffling in the bedroom.

Had Natalie woken up?

Worried that the drunk woman would end up vomiting all over the floor or the bedsheets, Sean quickly opened the bathroom door and rushed out with no shirt on.

But, he quickly froze when he saw the bare back of a delicate woman he had been desiring for the last few days. His body immediately heated up with a rush of hormones as Halia glanced behind her in surprise. She had just undone the zipper of her dress and was about to take it off when she heard a noise.

"Sean, what are you doing here?" she gasped as she held onto her dress.

This scene was extremely seductive even though Halia didn't mean it.

Without a word, Sean rushed forward towards the woman and pulled her into his arms, pressing his fit police-trained body against Halia's back. Her smooth skin rubbed against his chest as he brushed her hair aside and began to kiss her on the neck.

Halia stretched her neck in pleasure as she took a deep breath. At that moment, memories of Sara and Sean flooded her mind. It was happening again; she was losing control. She took a quick glance at the bed and noticed Natalie was fast asleep. Her friend could not help her this time.

Just as she closed her eyes, the man turned her around to face him and moved his lips from her neck to her lips. As he ran his fingers across her bare back passionately, he moved from her lips back down to her neck. Halia ran her fingers across the man's back and gently opened her eyes again.

As she bit her bottom lip, she suddenly froze.

On the other side of the room was a standing mirror and the reflection inside was her and Sean.

Yes, she was Halia and the man in her arms was Sean. This was not right!

Just like Dr. Li said, to prevent Sara's emotions from taking over, the first step was realization.

The second step - was allowing logic to take over.

Suddenly, a little sparkle caught Halia's eyes. Halia looked at the mirror closely and noticed it was coming from her wrist. A little heart pendant swung from side to side.

It was the bracelet that Jackson gave her!

She felt her heart melt at the thought of this man.

With one swift move, Halia quickly grabbed Sean's arms and restrained it against his back. "I already told you - I have a boyfriend!" she said beside the man's ear.

Sean was a little surprised. It seemed, Halia really did hold back the other day when he was testing her fighting skills. She actually had a senior SPU detective restrained in a hold that he couldn't get out of.

All of a sudden, there was a knock on the bedroom door. "Halia, are you OK? I thought I heard some noise," a man's voice asked worriedly.

Sean's eyes opened wide in shock. There was another man in the suite?

Halia quickly pushed Sean away and gestured for him to stay quiet.

"I'm OK. I just tripped a little. I'll be right out," she called out towards the door.

She then looked at Sean and warned, "Don't ever do that again, or we can't even be friends."

Ignoring Halia's warning, Sean immediately asked, "Who's the man outside?"

"My lead. Don't forget what we're here for," Halia replied coldly as she stormed into the bathroom to get changed.
