Chapter 112 - Macau

Name:Help...My Wife is a Spy Author:Yunyi
At first, Halia thought waiting for Jackson wasn't too realistic. In fact, she expected that logic would eventually take over and she'd give up. But, after what she discovered in his apartment that day, a million possibilities ran through her head and she suddenly felt hopeful.

So...she waited...

And waited...

And waited...

Two weeks soon passed. During this time, Halia cleaned Jackson's home every few days, hoping to some day walk in and see him sitting on the sofa. Meanwhile, she spent the rest of her time working and training.

After returning from Hong Kong, the captain obviously asked Halia to follow the lead in Macau. So, dressed from head to toe in branded clothing, Halia went to lunch with a representative from Thomas' junket company and deposited 100,000 Yuan as required.

They then arranged a date for her to visit Macau with all flights and accommodation paid for. Halia could see how this was such a tempting offer for some people. It was an all expenses paid holiday with a possibility of winning money at the end!

The day before she was to fly to Macau, Halia met with Max. "I'll need you to feed my dog again. Is that OK?" she asked. "I'll be gone for a week."

Max smiled and nodded his head. He had been seeing Cleo every day anyway, so popping next door to feed Halia's dog was no issue at all.

Halia then hesitated before she continued, "If you hear any news about Jackson, contact me straight away."

It had almost been a month since Jackson left. If he was really going to attend a trial, it should have been done by now. Halia remained hopeful.

The next day, Halia caught a morning flight to Macau and was greeted by a luxurious limousine that took her straight over to Golden Dream Casino.

The casino was massive and it had a shiny golden tint on the outside that made the entire building glow in the sun like a block of gold. Halia had never been a to casino before, so this place was quite an eye-opener.

The limousine stopped outside the hotel entrance and Thomas came out to greet her. "Director Feng, you made it. It's nice to see you again," the young man said.

Halia was a little surprised to see Thomas. Although he had arranged everything for her, she expected that he wouldn't be able to leave Emerson's side since he was his assistant. "I didn't expect to see you today. Don't you have to assist Emerson?" she asked.

"The President had to urgently return home," Thomas replied.

"So, he's back in Hong Kong?" Halia questioned.

"Yes, the Chairman called him back for an urgent family meeting, so I was left here to keep an eye on things," Thomas explained as he led Halia into the hotel.

"Does Emerson know that I'm here?" Halia asked out of curiosity.

Thomas looked at Halia awkwardly. He then said, "No, I never told him you were coming, but I'm sure you'll run into him at some point."

Halia looked at the man in confusion. Wasn't Emerson the President of the casino. Shouldn't he have an eye on the junket operations that were happening under his own roof?

Soon, she arrived at her hotel suite. Although it wasn't as grand as The Peninsula Suite in Hong Kong, it was still exquisitely designed and more expensive than where a normal person would stay.

"I'll let you settle down first and I'll come back to get you in 2 hours for a tour around the casino," Thomas smiled.

Halia nodded her head and walked the man out.

After closing the door, she went to have a bath. The flight wasn't very long, but it was still tiring, so it was nice to freshen up a little.

2 hours later, Thomas returned and took Halia on a tour around the casino as promised.

Halia was quite surprised by the place. Gambling was illegal in China, so this was her first time inside a casino and it shocked her a little. The amount of money that was being thrown around was crazy.

But, Thomas had only shown her the public area so far. When they finally stepped foot into the VIP area, Halia had to consciously keep her mouth shut. Every chip was equivalent to an entire week's pay for her. No wonder they were willing to fly these people over and offer them free accommodation!

At that moment, a chubby older man approached Halia and shook her hand.

"Director Feng, it's nice to finally meet you. I'm Director Pang, Emerson's uncle. I am in charge of junket relations here at the casino and I was just passing by to check that everything was running smoothly. Thomas mentioned you'd be coming," the old man smiled.

Halia shook the man's hand and looked at him suspiciously. If this man was in charge of junket relations, did he know everything the junkets were doing in his casino? Including all the illegal activities?

...

At that moment, in Hong Kong International Airport, Emerson was standing in the arrivals hall with a couple of bodyguards. His father had called him back urgently and asked him to go to the airport to meet a person he hadn't seen for a long time. A person that he couldn't believe was still alive.

Soon, a familiar face walked out. Although they hadn't seen each other for over a decade, Emerson could recognize that face from anywhere. "Big Brother!" he yelled across the hall.
