Chapter 145 - Start A Family

Name:Help...My Wife is a Spy Author:Yunyi
That night, after everyone fell asleep, Halia snuck out of her hotel room and headed up to the sunflower garden on the rooftop.

Just a couple of hours ago, she had received a message from Jackson to meet there after midnight.

When she arrived, she took a quick glance around and hurried over to the man after she confirmed there was no one else there.

"Why did you suddenly want to meet?" she asked.

Jackson looked at the woman and smirked.

"Don't you want to see me?" he joked.

Halia pinched the man on the nose. "When did you become so cheeky?"

Jackson laughed as his expression turned serious, "Let's be serious. After meeting with Rawson Zhang today, I realized how big your case was and decided to speak to your Captain at the SPU. We both agreed that this is an international crime and decided to combine forces for this case," Jackson explained. "So, from now on, the SPU and Interpol are teaming up and you are directly working under me, Agent Feng."

Halia looked at Jackson with confusion.

"Directly working under you? Who exactly are you? How did you speak to my Captain so easily? I thought you were just a field agent," Halia questioned.

Jackson stood up straight, cleared his throat and stuck out his hand, "Agent Halia Feng, I am the head of Interpol in Hong Kong, Jackson Wu. Nice to officially meet you."

Halia's eyes opened wide in shock. Jackson was only a few years older than her. How was he in such a senior role at such a young age when she had just graduated from the police academy last year!

She felt proud, yet confused as she thought about what this man's role meant.

At that moment, she suddenly realized something and frowned, "If you're the head of Interpol in Hong Kong, are we going to have a long-distance relationship when I return to China?"

Jackson couldn't help but laugh.

Was this all she could think about at a time like this?

"I only took on this role to get access to their files. After this case, I am planning to retire from law enforcement and live a normal life. Perhaps, I'll start a family. After all, I've been undercover since I was 18 and I have enough money saved up, as well as residual and passive income, to live comfortably for the rest of my life. Above all, don't forget that I'm a shareholder in this casino."

Halia looked at the man in confusion, "Why do you need access to their files?"

"They have some confidential files involving my mother," Jackson said as he furrowed his brows.

Halia nodded her head, but then she suddenly realized something. "Do you want to start a family? Who are you starting a family with?" she asked.

The man wrapped his arms around her waist and whispered, "With you, of course. Did you forget that I told my father I was getting married and giving him grandchildren?"

Halia blushed as she stared at the man in surprise. When did she agree to any of this?

...

While Halia and Jackson chatted, the mysterious figure from earlier received a phone call from a private investigator she had hired. "I did a quick search on the name Haili Feng, but I couldn't find much information on her. Apart from being the daughter of Henry Feng and the director of Fengtai Corporations, no one in the company has ever seen her or even worked with her. In fact, there's no record that she even returned to help her father after she graduated from university."

"It seemed like her father really missed her when he saw her earlier. Do a search in Beijing and see if there are any records on her. I sense something odd about this woman."

After she hung up the phone, the woman headed into the kitchen to grab a cup of hot tea. The light in the study room was on and she knew her son was working late again.

"Emerson, are you working late again?" she asked as she walked into the room.

The young handsome man looked up from his doc.u.ments and smiled at his mother, "Yes, mom, just a little longer. I'm almost done."

"Your father asked if we could invite Haili out for dinner again tomorrow night since tonight's dinner was interrupted," the old woman said.

Emerson hesitated for a second and said, "I don't think she'll ever have dinner with us again."

"Why not?" the mother asked, even though she had already overheard their conversation earlier.

"She's actually not my girlfriend," Emerson sighed.

"But, you like her right?" the woman asked.

"Yes, but she rejected me," Emerson looked down with disappointment.

"Why would she reject such a great man? My son is handsome, smart and successful, who could compare to you?" the old woman questioned.

"I guess, she already found someone better," Emerson replied.

Emma Wu looked at her son and tried to hide her frustration. Her son meant everything to her. How could she let someone hurt him?
