Chapter 160 - Can I Be A Spy Too?

Name:Help...My Wife is a Spy Author:Yunyi
"So, what's the plan now?" Father Feng asked with determination as he rolled up his sleeves. "Can I be a spy too?" the man's eyes lit up excitedly.

Sean quickly shook his head, "You should go home and 'grieve'. We will handle the rest. It's too dangerous for you to stay here. You already know too much."

Natalie looked at her fiance and agreed, "Yes, we still have a business meeting in a few days. I'll head back with you."

But, Father Feng wasn't one to run away from a difficult situation. Besides, how could he let Mother Wu live in peace when he knew that she tried to kill his daughter? Even if he couldn't help capture the woman, he could, at least, make her life a living hell.

"The meeting is in a few days. That means I can still stick around for a bit," Father Feng said with a cheeky smile. "I've got some ideas...Plus, I'm a good actor. Natalie can attest to my acting skills."

Halia sighed. Her father had always been a fan of spy movies so she could tell he was excited. But, this was not a movie; this was real life.

"I won't force you to leave if you don't want to, but don't do anything reckless," she warned.

Her father did an 'OK' gesture with his fingers and sat down comfortably on the sofa. Sometimes, it felt like Halia was the parent and her father was the child.

"By the way, where are you going to hide if everyone thinks you're dead? You can't return to your hotel room or mine," Father Feng suddenly questioned.

Jackson heard the old man's question and replied casually, "She will be staying here."

Father Feng looked at the young man. Although he was tall, handsome and successful, Father Feng had his doubts. After all, good-looking men were often untrustworthy. How could he let his precious daughter share a room with a man that he knew nothing about?

"No, a man and a woman alone in a room? You're both unmarried. It's not safe! What if you take advantage of my precious daughter?" Father Feng objected.

Jackson cleared his throat awkwardly.

At that moment, Amelie stepped forward, "I am also sharing this suite. There are two bedrooms. Halia can share a bed with me."

Even though she couldn't understand Chinese, she could roughly guess what Father Feng was worried about.

Father Feng glanced at the blond-haired, blue-eyed woman. He had seen her before. She was the woman that Jackson told his father he was marrying!

"That's right! I almost forgot! How can my daughter be your girlfriend when you told your father you were marrying this woman! I knew good-looking men couldn't be trusted! Are you playing around with my daughter's feelings?" Father Feng growled.

Jackson chuckled. "There's been a misunderstanding, Mr. Feng. This is Amelie, my colleague. She's here to assist me and be my cover," he explained. "We are just friends. Besides, I told my father I was getting married, but I didn't mention any names."

He then glanced at Halia, "Perhaps, I meant I was marrying your daughter..."

Halia opened her eyes wide in shock. What was this man saying? When did she agree to marry him?

As she blushed, she turned to reassure her father. "Don't worry, Dad. He didn't take advantage of me last time, so I'll be fine," she quickly blurted.

"Last time?" Father Feng asked in shock. "What do you mean by last time?"

Halia sighed and placed her hand to her mouth. She forgot that her father didn't know about the time they spent in the underground lab.

"You have a lot of explaining to do, young lady," Father Feng warned as he waited expectantly for his daughter to speak.

Halia sighed as she looked at Jackson helplessly. It seemed, she had a lot of explaining to do...

...

That night, after everyone left, only Jackson, Halia, Amelie and Alexander remained in the suite. Jackson showed Halia to her bedroom and helped her settle down while Amelie and Alexander sat quietly in the living room. Ever since Alexander arrived in Macau, there had been non-stop drama, so this was the first time they were alone together.

Amelie glanced shyly at the man. Did he remember that she told him she missed him on the phone? Most importantly, did he understand what she meant by it?

Of course, friends could also miss each other, but during the time that they were apart, she realized Alexander meant a lot more to her than she originally thought.

"How have you been?" Amelie asked awkwardly, breaking the silence.

Alexander peered sideways at the woman, "I've been well. I was given some time off after the whole incident with Jackson and Gogh, so I met with some old friends and relaxed a little. What about you? How have you been?"

"I've been good too. It's been nice to be away from France for a while. It's helped me rediscover myself and the things that I've taken for granted," Amelie replied.

"Oh? Like what?" Alexander asked as he stood up and walked towards the balcony.

The night sky was clear and a full moon perched brightly among the stars. It was the middle of spring, so the wind was warm and it carried a slight fragrance of the night jasmine which dotted the gardens around the casino.

Amelie stepped out onto the balcony to join the man as she replied shyly, "Like the food...and the people..."

"People?" Alexander asked, hinting for the woman to elaborate on her answer.

Amelie turned towards the man and found herself looking into his eyes. She had never noticed before, but she realized at that moment, how blue his eyes were. They were like two serene pools of water, shimmering under the moonlight, containing an odd sense of comfort. And the emotions contained within them were so gentle and caring that it made her heart melt. Had he always looked at her like that?

"Yes, I realized how important the people around me were," Amelie replied. She then took a step forward and added, "Especially you..."

Alexander felt his heart overflow with joy when he heard this. He had actually liked Amelie for a long time, but she had been so hung up on Jackson that she never returned his feelings. When he received her message a few days ago, he was ecstatic, but he was also worried that he had misinterpreted it.

"What about Jackson? Am I as important as him?" Alexander tested.

Amelie immediately shook her head, "No..."

A trace of disappointment appeared in the man's eyes. He knew it was too good to be true.

But, after a short pause, Amelie whispered, "...you're more important."

Alexander felt his heart almost jump out of his chest at the sound of the woman's voice. Just as he was about to respond, Amelie suddenly leaned forward and kissed him on the lips.

Alexander's eyes opened wide in surprise. This was not the first time they had kissed, but it felt different this time.

Amelie noticed the man was frozen in place and not responding, so she slowly pulled away and looked at him in confusion. Did he not believe her? Or had his feelings changed during the time they were apart?

With a slight frown, she retreated a few steps. Maybe it was too naive of her to think that this man would forever be waiting around for her.

But, just as she thought this, she suddenly felt herself being pulled forward by a pair of strong arms. Before she realized what was happening, the man in front of her pressed his lips passionately against hers. Of course, his feelings never changed. In fact, their time apart made his feelings grow even stronger for her.

"I meant it when I said I missed you," Amelie managed to whisper between kisses.

Alexander smiled when he heard this. "I know," he replied.
