Chapter 252 - Staking Claim On His Woman

Name:Help...My Wife is a Spy Author:Yunyi
At the time that Halia arrived at the law firm, detectives were already arresting Roy and walking him out in handcuffs.

"What's happening?" Halia asked, pretending not to know a thing when she was the one that had forwarded the evidence to the fraud department overnight. Halia looked confusedly at her SPU colleagues, but they didn't know who she was, so they walked straight past her without any response. That was exactly the reaction she wanted.

At that moment, she spotted Morton standing in the doorway, looking at her with a frown. Halia held her breath for a second. Could he have realized that she was an undercover agent? After all, it seemed as though he already knew that she was a woman.

Suddenly, a man stepped in front of her and blocked her view of Morton. "Are you Mars Wu?" the man asked.

Halia gently nodded her head.

"You're Roy Chen's legal assistant, aren't you? We have a few questions to ask you. Could you please come with us?" The man was one of the senior detectives from the fraud department.

Halia scrunched her nose with frustration. This was the problem with not having a handler around to help. She was supposed to investigate Morton. If they took her away like this, it would waste half the day. But, she couldn't blow her cover, so she nodded cooperatively, "Of course."

The detective looked at Halia with suspicion. Why did he sense some resistance? Was this legal assistant involved?

"This way, please," the man gestured with his hand as he narrowed his eyes and began to lead the way.

But, just as Halia turned to follow, someone suddenly grabbed her hand.

Halia looked at her hand and traced her eyes up the arm of the person that was holding onto her.

It was Morton Meng.

"Do you want me to come with you?" he offered worriedly.

Halia shook her head in surprise, "No, I can handle it on my own."

Judging by this man's reaction, it seemed she had been paranoid. This man had no idea what her real identity was, he was frowning at her earlier because he was worried about her.

"Call me if you need anything," he said as he let go.

Halia nodded and walked off.

Not long after Halia was gone and Morton was settled back in his office, his secretary suddenly knocked on the door.

"Lawyer Meng, we have a new client that's looking to open a trust fund but we don't have any senior lawyers in at the moment and Roy's been taken away," she said awkwardly.

Morton nodded his head, "Send him to me. I'll handle it."

The secretary quickly stepped out and soon returned with four men.

Morton glanced up at the four men. A handsome man walked in front, leading three misfits behind him. He had never seen any of these men before, so he stood up and stuck out his hand, "Hello, I am Morton Meng, one of the owners of this law firm."

The man in front shook his hand and replied, "Jackson Wu, owner of Golden Dream Casino in Macau."

Morton's eyes opened wide in surprise. Everyone knew about the CEO, Emerson Wu, and his father, Jack Wu, but he had never heard of the name Jackson Wu. Was this man a scammer?

"I've met Emerson Wu before, but I'm afraid he's never mentioned you," Morton said with slight doubt as he snuck a glance at the three men behind Jackson.

The three men were scruffy, rough on the edges, and slightly intimidating. They looked more like gangsters than legitimate business people.

Jackson smirked, "My brother and father are the faces of the family business. I like to keep a low profile."

He then pulled out some doc.u.ments, "Let's get down to business. I want to set up a trust fund and will."

Morton still had his doubts, but he couldn't offend the man until he was sure, so he flipped through the doc.u.ments and asked, "Who is the beneficiary?"

"My fiancee and these three men here," Jackson replied.

Rowan, Kevin, and Max were shocked. They thought they were only there to accompany Jackson.

"I have a restaurant in Beijing and Marseille. If anything is to happen to me, I want them to both go to Max. I have 5 cars: 2 in Beijing, 2 in Hong Kong, and 1 in Macau, I want them to go to Rowan. As for my bar in Beijing, I want that to go to Kevin. I am in the process of building another casino in Macau. I want that casino, as well as my shares in Golden Dream Casino and all my money and property to go to my fiancee, Haili Feng," Jackson explained.

Morton's eyes opened wide in surprise. Haili Feng? He had just met her last night and almost mistook her for Mars.

Jackson saw the realization in the man's eyes and smiled proudly. That's right, his fiancee was Haili Feng. He had heard how this man tried to make a move on his woman the previous night and he was here to stake his claim.

"Haili Feng from Fengtai Corporation?" Morton checked.

Jackson looked into the man's eyes and nodded his head.

...

Meanwhile, over in the fraud department of SPU, Halia was being questioned by one of the officers, "Were you aware of what your superior was doing? I'm sure you would have seen all the receipts and doc.u.ments. Wasn't anything suspicious to you?"

Halia shook her head.

"Don't lie to me. I'm sure you would have, at least, noticed that the client was overbilled."

Halia kept her mouth shut and simply shook her head. Of course, she knew what was going on, but she couldn't reveal her identity without the approval of her superiors.

"I want to speak to the head of SPU, Captain Tang," she said.

The officer was surprised that this little legal assistant knew who Captain Tang was, but then again, he was the face of the organization and often appeared on television. But, who did this young man think he was? Why would the head of SPU come see him?

The officer looked at Halia with frustration. This man was obviously hiding something and trying to waste time, "If you refuse to talk, we have the right to detain you," the officer warned.

"Bring me Captain Tang and I will tell him everything," Halia replied.

The officer stood up from his chair and walked towards the door, "Captain Tang is a busy man. I'll give you some time to think it over. Maybe you might know something later." He then left the room.

But, just as he stepped out, a familiar face arrived. "Let go of Mars Wu."

The officer quickly stood up straight and saluted at the man. "Captain Tang," he greeted.

What was the captain doing here and why was he telling him to let Mars Wu go?
