Chapter 284 - The Salad

Name:Help...My Wife is a Spy Author:Yunyi
The girls in Macaron shared an apartment in Seoul that was arranged by their management agency. Even though the apartment had 3 bedrooms, it wasn't hard to imagine how crammed the place felt with 7 women living under the same roof, so they loved it when they went overseas for business trips and concerts; it was the only time they got some space to themselves.

As the leader of the group, Avaleigh had the habit of waking up the earliest and checking on her members to make sure they were on time.

That day, the girls had a final rehearsal in the morning before their concert that evening, so Avaleigh woke up early and went to gather her members.

Mimi was next door to her, so she knocked on her door first. Usually, Mimi had a bit of an attitude and would deliberately make Avaleigh wait outside for a while, but today, she opened the door right away and was ready to go. She had a bright smile on her face as she stepped out, but she did not say a word to Avaleigh. Not even a good morning.

Avaleigh was used to this. From the time the group was first formed and she was named the leader, this woman had held a grudge against her. Avaleigh understood why she acted this way. After all, Mimi was older than her and had been a trainee for much longer than her as well. But, the way she acted was much too childish. All Avaleigh could do was sigh and not let her upset her.

The two women then walked further down the corridor and knocked on another two rooms. Avaleigh knocked on Chu's room and Mimi knocked on Ray's. Out of all the members, Mimi was the closest to Ray, so when she saw her, she immediately hooked arms with her and started a conversation.

Ever since Emerson left her room the previous night, a question lingered on her mind and it excited her so much, she couldn't wait to speak to Ray about it. Emerson had told her he was speaking to all the members of Macaron last night, but when he left her room, she clearly saw him walking in the opposite direction to the rooms that the other members were in. Unless he visited them before he went to see her, it seemed like he had lied and only went to her room.

"Hey, did President Wu visit you last night?" Mimi asked with a nosy smile.

Ray glanced at Mimi with confusion and shook her head. Apart from seeing the man at the press conference, they had never exchanged a single word. After all, she couldn't speak Cantonese and her English wasn't too good. "No, why do you ask? Was he supposed to?" Ray asked.

Mimi flicked her hair back and giggled to herself. "I knew it!" she exclaimed.

Ray continued to look at Mimi with confusion, "What do you know?"

"When I become the wife of a billionaire, I will let you know," Mimi smiled proudly without providing a proper explanation.

Ray was originally from Japan and her Korean had only improved over the past few years, so she thought she was confused because she hadn't understood Mimi properly. She didn't realize that Mimi was speaking cryptically in a way that only she understood.

However, Avaleigh overheard their conversation and knew exactly what Mimi was thinking. After all, she watched as Emerson went into the room next door to hers. But, Mimi had no idea that Emerson only used her to get rid of the paparazzi that was outside.

Avaleigh subconsciously touched her lips and thought about the man that had visited her the previous night. He told her that he delivered her dinner because he heard she hadn't eaten all day and he wanted her to perform well on stage, but...why did he only deliver food to her and not to all the members of Macaron. They had all been on the exact same schedule and the other girls were equally hungry as her. From a business standpoint, didn't he want the other girls to perform well too?

Avaleigh licked her lips and remembered the taste of the dishes that Emerson ordered her. She hadn't tasted flavors like that for a long time and wanted so badly to taste them again. As she thought about the man and the dishes, a smile subconsciously appeared on her face.

Chu glanced at her leader with curiosity and gave her a nudge, "What's with that look on your face? If I didn't know better, I would think that you're in love..."

Avaleigh immediately snapped out of her daze and cleared her throat awkwardly as she felt her cheeks heat up a little, "What are you talking about. I was just thinking about how tasty dinner was last night."

Avaleigh had always been a foodie and her members all knew this. She often followed food bloggers online and watched food videos in her spare time. Even though she had a strict diet, she knew about all the latest trending foods and popular restaurants.

But...dinner last night? Tasty?

The caesar salad was disgusting!

Was something wrong with her tastebuds?

"Did we eat the same thing for dinner? That caesar salad was the worst caesar salad I've ever had! If I wasn't starving, I would have thrown it straight in the trash!" Chu replied.

"Yes, I even wondered if the mayonnaise was expired at one point. I had to call Sue to check and she said it was normal..." Ray frowned when she heard the girls talking about the salad. "Did you actually enjoy it, Ava?"

The girls all looked at Avaleigh in surprise.

Avaleigh immediately shook her head and waved her hands, "I was being sarcastic...Couldn't you tell? I almost vomited eating that salad."

The girls laughed and agreed.

Avaleigh quickly breathed a sigh of relief. As she did so, she couldn't help but imagine Emerson's face as he ate the salad the previous night. No wonder he chewed on it so unenthusiastically.

She even forced him to eat the whole thing!

Avaleigh found herself laughing as well. But, the other girls had no idea that she was laughing at something completely different to them.
