Chapter 286 - Rock Paper Scissors

Name:Help...My Wife is a Spy Author:Yunyi
Mimi pounced towards Emerson like a frog spotting a lily pad. However, Emerson sensed her approaching from his peripheral vision and quickly stepped aside, avoiding the woman and causing her to lose her balance.

The girls on top of the stage saw this and couldn't help but laugh. Especially, Avaleigh, who had to cover her mouth modestly.

Mimi heard the giggles and glared towards the stage with annoyance.

When she saw Avaleigh covering her mouth, she was even more annoyed. "Wait until I become the wife of a billionaire. Let's see who gets the last laugh," she thought to herself.

She then swallowed her pride and forced a smile on her face as she looked at Emerson. He probably didn't see her coming and had coincidentally moved aside. Since he came to her room last night, he must like her, right?

"President Wu, it's so nice to see you again. Did you come to watch us rehearse?" Mimi asked affectionately.

Sue glanced at her artist. When did she become so close to Emerson?

At that moment, the other girls stepped off the stage and approached.

Without responding to Mimi, Emerson looked at the girl group and asked, "Did you have breakfast this morning?"

Although it seemed like he was talking to everyone, his eyes were focused on Avaleigh.

Avaleigh looked down shyly and shook her head. But, before she managed to reply on behalf of the group, Mimi spoke up with a pout, "No, we haven't eaten yet. My stomach is grumbling."

Emerson furrowed his brows a little as he continued to look at Avaleigh. He had a feeling that this would be the case, but it still frustrated him a little to hear it. So, he turned to Sue and complained, "Why haven't they had breakfast? How are they expected to perform when they don't have enough energy? What if one of them faint on stage? How will our team explain that to the public?"

Sue was quite surprised by the man's reaction. She didn't understand what he was saying, but he seemed really angry. Wasn't he just filling in for President Qian? Why did this man seem so worked up?

She turned to the interpreter for an explanation and the interpreter quickly explained what Emerson said. After she heard the translation, she glanced down guiltily. She cared about her artists sincerely, but she had no choice but to follow her agency's rules. They were only allowed one light meal before the concert in case they had a cramp on stage or they accidentally vomited from the excessive movement. Most importantly, no one wanted to see an idol dancing on stage with a visibly bloated stomach.

Danson's secretary quickly tugged on Emerson's sleeve to calm him down. This was their client; even if he disagreed with what they did, he still had to remain polite.

Emerson cleared his throat when he realized he had overreacted. He didn't understand why he was so upset either. Danson had only told him to attend occasional meetings and visit the office every now and then. Why did he wake up so early to come here? It wasn't like he didn't have other work to do; he had an entire casino waiting for him to run.

As soon as Emerson calmed down, Danson's secretary stepped forward and smiled politely, "One of the sponsors for the concert is a famous Hong Kong cafe chain. President Wu spoke to them this morning and they've offered to deliver breakfast for the entire crew, they should be arriving at any moment. In order not to offend the sponsors, the girls should eat a little. I'm sure it won't affect their performance since there's still 10 hours until the concert."

Sue hesitated for a moment and eventually nodded her head. A little bit of food wasn't a big deal. If the boss blamed her later, she could just say that they couldn't offend their sponsors. After all, she had heard about the rules at other agencies and knew that they were a lot more lenient with their diets. If eating more food had never been an issue for other agencies, why did it pose a problem for them?

The girls quickly cheered with excitement. Ever since the bland caesar salad from the previous night, they had not had any food and they were starving.

Mimi looked at Emerson thankfully and felt her heart melt. Was this man worried about her? Was that why he had found an excuse to bring her breakfast?

"President Wu is so thoughtful. He found a way to please the sponsors and reward us as well. I wonder what type of food they're going to bring," Ray smiled as she spoke to the other girls.

"I heard Hong Kong is famous for good food. I can't wait to eat something tasty!" Chu jumped up and down with excitement. "I wonder if President Wu has a wife or girlfriend. She must be so lucky."

Mimi smiled to herself. She had already done her research on the man; he was one of the most eligible bachelors in Hong Kong. Which meant, he was obviously still single.

"Let's play a game," Chu suddenly whispered as she leaned in towards the group. "Whoever loses will have to drag President Wu aside and ask him whether he's got a wife or girlfriend."

Before anyone could object, Chu pulled the girls into a circle and initiated a game of Rock Paper Scissors. The other girls naturally joined in.

After a couple of rounds, a few of the girls were eliminated and it eventually boiled down to just Avaleigh and Mimi.

Mimi glared at Avaleigh. She wanted to lose so she'd have an excuse to speak to Emerson on her own. Moreover, she wanted to see how he'd react to her question. Would he tell her that he was single and ask her whether she wanted to be his girlfriend? Or would he take it a step further and propose to her on the spot like a domineering CEO in a television drama? Just the thought of it made Mimi blush.

But, when she played rock and Avaleigh played scissors, she looked down at their hands and frowned. Avaleigh had lost!
