The sleazy man lay unconscious on the floor as Halia glanced to her side in surprise. She recognized the voice of the man that had knocked this guy out, but what was he doing there? She was sure Jackson couldn't see her from the table where he was sitting. When did he approach and how much did he see?
But, she had no time to ask any questions or provide any explanations. The man was unconscious and she only had a short window of time before someone discovered him or he woke up. So, she quickly knelt beside the man, flipped him over, and stuck her hand in his back pocket.
Jackson looked at his wife with curiosity just as Sean and Natalie approached.
Halia thought her husband couldn't see her from the table, but Jackson's instincts were too strong. Ever since yesterday, he had sensed something strange about his wife, so he secretly kept an eye on her to make sure she wasn't in danger.
Halia grabbed hold of the man's wallet and threw it at Jackson. "Search for a key card," she instructed with urgency.
Jackson looked down at the wallet and did as his wife instructed. He had been an Interpol agent for many years, and he even headed one of their branches, but he suddenly felt like a rookie following the orders of his captain again. His wife was definitely a lot different to the clumsy little rookie that he first met.
While Jackson was searching through the wallet, Halia waved at Sean and said, "Come, help me check his other pockets."
Sean had worked with Halia before, so he could tell by the expression on her face that this was serious. Without questioning the woman, he quickly leaned over and started helping.
Meanwhile, Natalie stood on the side looking puzzled. "What's happening?" she asked.
"It's best for you to pretend that you didn't see a thing, Nat," Halia said. If the organization was involved, this was something that she didn't want Natalie to be entangled with. "If you want to help, then warn us if someone approaches."
Natalie quickly peeped around the corner and sighed with relief when she saw that no one was around. What was Halia doing in this hidden corner with a stranger?
Was her best friend...having an affair?!!!
Natalie's eyes opened wide with shock, but she quickly dismissed the thought. If her best friend was cheating, Jackson and Sean would not be helping her at the moment. But, an even scarier thought came to her mind. She had almost forgotten that her best friend, her husband, and even her best friend's husband were all spies! Was something illegal happening here? Was there a conspiracy? Were they in danger?
A short moment later, Jackson pulled out a card from the man's wallet and waved it around. "I found it," he said.
Halia glanced at the card, but she did not stop searching the man's body. She was even searching the inside pockets of his coat jacket. This man certainly had a lot of pockets.
"Is there another one?" Halia asked.
Jackson furrowed his brows, "Another one?"
Without waiting for an answer, he continued to search the wallet, but he did not find another key card inside.
Suddenly, Natalie turned around and said with an anxious look on her face, "Someone's coming!"
Jackson quickly returned the man's wallet to his pocket and Sean neatened the man's clothes, but Halia continued searching.
"Quick!" Natalie squealed between gritted teeth as she tried to remain composed. A man and a woman were approaching with desire in their eyes. Obviously, this was a popular makeout spot.
Natalie bit her lip nervously. Apart from the time that she acted as a ghost to scare Mother Wu, she had never done something so secretive.
"Halia, they're almost here," she said anxiously, but Halia was focused on what she was doing and had no intention of stopping.
Natalie closed her eyes in a panic and quickly stepped out in front of the two people just as they were about to turn the corner.
She quickly covered her mouth and shrieked. "Oh my, you gave me quite a fright," she said as she blocked the way.
The couple looked at the woman with confusion. Was this corner already taken? They tried to peek behind her to see, but Natalie quickly stood on her tiptoes and stretched her arms. "Oh, it's getting late, isn't it? Do you have the time?" she asked as she yawned.
The couple furrowed their brows, but the man still checked his watch and answered, "It's only 9pm."
Natalie's eyes darted awkwardly. 9pm couldn't be considered as late. Many of the parties on the island hadn't even started yet!
She giggled awkwardly and said, "Oh, it must be the jet lag..."
The woman looked at the man and whispered, "I thought there's no time difference between China and the Philippines."
The man looked at the woman and whispered back, "Perhaps...she's not from China..."
The woman nodded understandingly.
The man then looked at Natalie and said, "You should hurry to bed then. It was nice meeting you. Can we please get through?"
Natalie panicked, "N-N-N...."
She tried to hold the couple back, but they easily walked around her to face the scene in the corner.
Natalie closed her eyes nervously and heard the woman gasp in surprise.
What was going to happen now? Would they be taken to the police station in a foreign country? Even though her three travel companions were officers of the law, they couldn't knock out a person and search them like this. Nowhere in the world was this forgivable.
But, just as she was thinking this, she heard her husband's voice, "Oh John, I told you not to drink so much..."
She then heard the couple chuckle.
With confusion, she quickly opened her eyes and turned around.
Jackson and Sean were dragging the unconscious man out while Halia followed behind. "It was all your fault for buying him so many drinks," Jackson said as he played along.
Even though Natalie knew the real situation, these men were putting on a convincing act. It simply looked like they were dragging their drunk friend out of the bar.
Without any suspicions, the couple simply watched as the group left with the unconscious man.
But, as soon as the trio stepped back into the main part of the bar, they dumped the man on a sofa and left inconspicuously while Natalie followed nervously behind.
Jackson glanced at his wife to check that she was OK and saw her gripping tightly to another key card in her hand. He was a little surprised.
She was right, there really was another one!
But, there was something different about the one in his wife's hand. It looked like it was plated with gold!
How did she know about this key card and what was it used for?
