Chapter 364 - Conserving Energy

Name:Help...My Wife is a Spy Author:Yunyi
Up until recently, Danson had spent most of his a.d.u.l.t life not achieving much. He had never excelled in anything particular and his father's PR company didn't interest him either. All he did was drink, flirt with women, hang around with other rich socialites, and spend his father's money. But, the company somehow ended up in his hands so he was forced to run it.

Fortunately, Marissa returned and he found someone to palm the company back onto. Although traditionally, a man was meant to be the breadwinner, she was technically his stepmother, so he didn't mind living off of her while he 'took care' of their home (even though, technically, they had maids and helpers to do that).

He considered himself as an open-minded person; this was gender-equality, right?

Marissa liked being a strong and independent woman anyway.

But, just as he was beginning to enjoy his idle life again, Emerson suddenly contacted him and asked him to be the director of his new entertainment agency. Perhaps, Emerson saw something in him that he didn't see himself.

If he did, then he was right!

At first, he was helping Emerson as a favor. But, only after one week into the job, Danson discovered he felt more motivated and alive than he had ever felt before. From the moment he discussed Avaleigh's first project, to her audition, to watching her sign her contract - each successful step was so gratifying. Before long, he even took the initiative and signed on their second artist!

Emerson was pleased but surprised. He had started the agency for Avaleigh and never really considered the long term direction of the business, but it seemed, he had really put his business in the right hands.

Ever since high school, Danson had been a charismatic and charming person that got what he wanted without much effort; Marissa was probably the only challenge he had ever faced. Emerson knew this well. Moreover, he had dated many women and had a good judge of character. With one glance, he knew whether a woman was genuine and if she had any ulterior motives. Thus, directing an entertainment agency was the perfect job for him. He easily spotted good talent with good character, and he had the charm to scout them for their agency. On top of that, he knew many people that worked behind-the-scenes in the entertainment agency and could easily secure jobs for his artists.

"We will be flying back to Shanghai tomorrow to film the first episode of your new variety show. Are you ready?" Danson asked Avaleigh over the phone. For some reason, he felt more excited than she did.

Avaleigh was just about to pack her suitcase at that moment. As she rolled it out of storage, she replied, "Yes, I'm looking forward to it." She knew of the Korean version of this show and knew it was a long-running show that had spanned many years over hundreds of episodes. If she managed to secure a permanent position, this would be enough for her for the rest of her life!

Just as she finished her conversation with Danson and hung up the phone, a pair of arms suddenly wrapped around her from behind. "I'm going to miss you," Emerson's charming voice said beside her ear.

Avaleigh blushed a little and proceeded to open up her suitcase. But, to her surprise, she discovered the suitcase wasn't empty!

It was filled with fresh roses!

The sweet fragrance quickly enveloped the room and she gasped in surprise.

"This is a little gift to wish you good luck," Emerson smiled.

Avaleigh slowly picked out the roses and laughed. When had this man put them inside?

Feeling grateful, she leaned over and kissed him on the lips.

Emerson grinned and helped her clean out the last few petals that remained in her suitcase. He then walked over to the closet and said, "You are going to be gone for three days. What clothes are you planning to bring? Let me help you."

Avaleigh nodded her head. She had never met a more caring and thoughtful person. "Although it's also summer in Shanghai, we are reaching the end of the season and it is relatively cooler there than in Hong Kong. Don't forget to bring a light jacket just in case," Emerson said as he grabbed a windbreaker and folded it neatly.

As he placed the windbreaker in the suitcase, he actually felt bad that he hadn't hired a stylist for Avaleigh yet, nor had he secured any sponsorsh.i.p.s for clothing. But, he knew they would eventually come with time.

Once she started appearing weekly on television, brands would be fighting for her to wear their clothes, just like they did when she was in Macaron. After all, she was a natural style icon and he had faith in her.

After the suitcase was completely packed, Emerson helped Avaleigh push it out to the door so she could grab it and go the next day. Avaleigh chuckled thankfully, "I could have pushed it myself. I'm not that weak."

Emerson looked at his girlfriend and a slight smirk appeared on his face, "You need to conserve some energy."

Avaleigh laughed, not quite understanding the underlying meaning in the man's words. "Filming won't take place until 2 days later and I have all day to rest after I land tomorrow. I will definitely have enough energy for the show," she reassured.

But, to her surprise, Emerson suddenly lifted her in his arms and winked at her charmingly, "I wasn't talking about conserving energy for the show..."

He then carried her into the bedroom and placed her on the bed. "Since you'll be gone for a few days, you need to make up for it in advance..."

Avaleigh blushed as she realized what he was referring to. Before she managed to give a reaction, Emerson leaned over and kissed her on the lips.

Ever since the first time he stayed the night, he had not returned to his family mansion at The Peak. Instead, he spent every night savoring this woman's body and indulging in the love and pleasure she gave him. It was almost like she was a drug. So, now that she was going to be gone for 3 days, he needed to get his fill in advance. Otherwise, he would go crazy...
