Chapter 395 - Wolf

Name:Help...My Wife is a Spy Author:Yunyi
Over in Hong Kong, reporters gathered inside a hotel ballroom. "Welcome, friends of the media. I know everyone was shocked by the article that was released last night and the claims that were made about our artiste, Avaleigh Song. We are here to clarify those claims for everyone. If anyone has any questions, please raise your hand. We will try our best to answer everything, but please be patient and understanding," Danson said as he stood on stage.

He then waved Avaleigh onto the stage to join him.

As she walked up, cameras flashed excitedly. Some people looked around for Emerson, some people looked at her stomach, and some people looked nervously at the heels she was wearing on her feet. But, Avaleigh was calm as she sat down in front of a microphone.

"Hello everyone, thank you for sparing some time tonight to attend this press conference and listen to what I have to say," Avaleigh smiled.

"I know a lot of you have been wanting to know the truth, so I am here to provide it to you. Firstly, I would like to address the claim that I am pregnant. Apparently, according to a certain reporter, I was shopping for baby clothes yesterday and I had signs of morning sickness. Here is a letter from a doctor proving that I tested negative for a pregnancy test which I took this morning. I was shopping for a gift and I was unwell because of minor food poisoning. If you check with the cast and crew of 'Let's Go!', they will be able to prove that it was from something that I ate during filming. As for plotting to date Emerson Wu for his money, I'm sure you have all witnessed how hard I've been working. With my current pay from, 'Let's Go!', my endors.e.m.e.nts, and my royalties, all I can say is, I have more than enough money to support myself."

The reporters looked at each other. What was this all about? Who the hell wrote such a baseless article and led them on a wild goose chase?

A reporter raised their hand, "Then why did you deny that you were in a relationship the last time there were rumors about you and Emerson Wu?"

Avaleigh smiled, "You can choose to believe me or not, but we had honestly just met back then. We only started dating at a later date."

At that moment, there were some beeping sounds in the room. A few reporters checked their phones and their eyes opened wide in shock.

Avaleigh watched as those reporters started showing their phones to the people beside them and whispers started spreading through the room.

Danson also watched the scene with curiosity. He pulled out his phone to check the news and noticed a new trending article that had been released 15 minutes ago. The headline read, [Natasha Gu Hired Reporter To Defame Avaleigh Song]. The article was written by an entertainment reporter named, Steven Zhe.

...

Back in Morocco, Amun took off his jacket and quickly covered it over Hummingbird's shoulders like a gentleman. "Are you OK?" he asked again. "Do you speak English? Let me apologize on behalf of my wife. She's a little drunk."

He waved his hand at two men that appeared to be bodyguards and they led the drunk woman away. As they did so, Hummingbird couldn't help but notice the fancy lace gloves on the woman's hands.

Hummingbird nodded, "Yes, I speak English. Thank you for your jacket. I'll go dry myself and return it to you."

She then stood up to go to the bathroom. Now that she saw Amun, she simply had to dry herself off and leave; her mission was complete for the night.

But, Amun suddenly grabbed onto her hand and held her back. "I am staying in one of the suites of this hotel with my wife. If you want, you can come with me and I can lend you a change of clothes. I'm sure my wife won't mind since she put you into this vulnerable state," he offered.

Hummingbird raised an eyebrow. She could see what was happening here. It seemed, the man had planned everything to get her to his hotel suite. How many times had he used this trick and succeeded?

Hummingbird forced a smile on her face and shook her head. "Oh, that's not necessary. I was about to leave anyway. Plus, we don't know each other. I don't want to trouble you." As she said this, Hummingbird politely stepped aside and headed for the bathroom again.

But, the man wouldn't take no for an answer. He stepped in front of her and revealed a charming smile, "You'll catch a cold if you walk home like this. I insist you accept my help. I swear it's no trouble at all. It's only right since my wife did this to you"

If this man wasn't a founder of The Organization, he would make a great salesman with his charming smile and persistence.

Hummingbird started to get frustrated.

Just as she was about to reject the man again, she suddenly heard a voice beside her, "Maggie!"

The voice was deep, slightly husky, with a strong Italian accent...

A man with dark brown hair, hazel eyes, and neatly groomed facial hair appeared beside her.

Hummingbird looked at the man in surprise. He was the same man from the pool earlier that day. What was he doing there?

The man looked her up and down and asked, "What happened?"

Although she had rejected him earlier that day, Hummingbird preferred him over being stuck with Amun, so she quickly hooked onto the Italian man's arm and pouted, "Babe, what took you so long? I had a little accident. Let's go home."

She then removed Amun's jacket and handed it back to him, "My boyfriend's here so he can take me home. Thanks for offering to help. I know you're sorry but you should go check on your wife, she looked really drunk."

With a smile, she turned and started dragging the Italian man away before he could expose her. Amun frowned but simply let her go as he looked around for another target. There were plenty of single women in the bar; he wasn't wasting his time on someone with a boyfriend.

But, as Hummingbird walked away, she did not notice that the Italian man was secretly smiling in amus.e.m.e.nt.

After they walked out of the bar, she let go of his arm and said, "That man was hassling me so I used you as an excuse to get away from him. Don't misunderstand."

The man looked at her and smirked. "How could you just use someone that you don't even know the name of?" he teased. He then removed his jacket casually and covered her with it

Hummingbird laughed awkwardly and looked at the flirtatious man. It was true, she never even asked for his name.

"In that case, what is your name?" Hummingbird asked. Since the man had helped her, it was only right to be polite.

The man did not reply immediately. He flagged down a taxi first and helped her inside. After he climbed into the taxi next to her, he leaned over slightly and whispered into her ear, "Since you didn't give me your real name, it's not fair for me to give you my real name either. But...you can call me Wolf..."

Hummingbird turned her head in surprise as the man grinned at her. "Wolf?" she gasped.

Wolf stretched out his hand and said, "Nice to meet you, Hummingbird..."
