Hummingbird didn't usually feel this way around men, but she suddenly felt the urge to kiss Wolf.
Wolf, on the other hand, never held back around women, but he didn't want to overstep his boundaries this time and scare the woman in front of him.
So, he simply looked into her eyes with sincerity and said, "Take good care of yourself my little Hummingbird. If you get in trouble or you feel lonely, don't hesitate to call Wolf..."
He then let go of her chin, backed away, and turned to leave. He had to be realistic. Hummingbird wasn't just some fun or a one-night-stand, she was more than that, so he couldn't treat her like the other women he had met in the past.
Hummingbird was realistic too. Even though Orca had given an example of a couple that worked out, they were the exception. She did not think that she and Wolf could be another exception; their bond wasn't strong enough to withstand the challenges. Besides, being constantly on the road, it was much easier for her to be on her own.
So, the two parted ways, leaving a deep impression in each other's hearts.
...
In Shanghai, two other people were parting ways.
"You completely screwed up! Look what you've done to me now!" Natasha Gu complained as she threw a bunch of newspapers at the man opposite her. This man was the paparazzi she had hired to follow Avaleigh in Hong Kong.
"It's been an entire week and they're still slandering me!!" Natasha Gu yelled. "This is all your fault. How could you write an article when you weren't 100% sure? You made me look like a fool! I even paid you for this sloppy work and had everything backfire on me!"
Natasha was distraught. She thought she had hired a professional to take down Avaleigh. Instead, she had taken down herself. She was now one of the most hated women in the entertainment industry and several of her contracts had been canceled.
"I'm sorry, Miss Gu. I've been blacklisted by the other reporters too. I seriously thought I had genuine information that could ruin Avaleigh's career," the paparazzi pleaded for forgiveness.
"Shut up! Get lost! I don't want to see you again!" Natasha said as she pointed to the door.
At that moment, the paparazzi placed some photos and doc.u.ments in front of Natasha, "Please, Miss Gu, let me make it up to you. I discovered something that's 100% true this time..."
Natasha sneered and glanced down at the items in front of her with doubt.
The paparazzi smiled bravely and pointed to a photo, "Because of the mess I made, I couldn't follow Avaleigh any more. So, I decided to follow Emerson Wu instead."
"Guess what I found."
Natasha looked at the photo. Emerson was meeting with Danson and he was signing some papers. These men were both rich businessmen in Hong Kong so it was no surprise that they knew each other, nor was it any surprise for them to sign contracts together.
"Hurry and tell me what you're trying to say. You've already wasted enough of my time," Natasha growled between gritted teeth.
The paparazzi picked up a doc.u.ment and showed it to Natasha. It was a copy of a business registration certificate.
"AE Entertainment belongs to Emerson Wu..." the man said straightforwardly. "Danson Qian's been meeting with him to sign doc.u.ments for the agency."
Natasha looked at the man with interest. No one knew who the owner of AE Entertainment was. Who knew it was Emeron Wu...
"Also...I discovered that the owner of Fengtai Corporation is the wife of Jackson Wu, Emerson Wu's brother..."
Natasha's eyes opened wide in surprise. A moment later, a sly smile appeared on her face. "Oh, Avaleigh, I knew you were a gold digger. You even made your man open an entertainment agency for you so you could make a comeback... And, you used your connections to secure a big endors.e.m.e.nt to boost your popularity. How shameless!"
Natasha had always been highly confident in herself, so she never believed that Avaleigh had genuinely beaten her? This was proof that she was right.
"Post this online and do it properly this time. I don't want any repercussions," Natasha ordered.
The paparazzi smiled and nodded his head. Those other reporters were going to regret blacklisting him after seeing this.
...
At this time in Hong Kong, Danson was in the car with Avaleigh and Steven. Danson had specifically delivered a dress to Avaleigh that morning and told her to wear it for a special event that they were attending. He also told her that Steven was going to capture some photos at the event and share it with her fans.
Avaleigh did not question Danson. They had been working so well together that she never had to worry about the arrangements he made for her, so she simply went with the flow.
But as she sat in the car in the beautiful white dress that Danson had brought for her, she suddenly received a phone call.
"Hello, is this Miss Song?" a female voice asked gently.
Avaleigh furrowed her brows in confusion. Who was calling her? "Yes, speaking," she replied.
"I am a nurse calling from HKU hospital. You came in for a pregnancy check the other day and the doctor ran a few routine checks while you were here. Your results are back and the doctor has requested to speak to you urgently about it. Can you drop by the hospital now?" the nurse asked.
Avaleigh began to tremble a little. She had a foreboding feeling about this. Why was the doctor asking to see her urgently? "Can it wait?" she asked.
"It is very important. It's best if you come right away," the nurse replied.
Avaleigh glanced at Danson who was looking at her through the rearview mirror. "Is something wrong?" he asked.
Avaleigh covered the mouthpiece of her phone and replied gently, "I need to go to the hospital right away. It's urgent."
Danson saw the nervousness on Avaleigh's face and immediately nodded his head, "OK."
He then turned the car around and started driving to the hospital. As he did so, Steven glanced at Avaleigh worriedly and sent a message, "Change of plans, we are heading to the hospital for something urgent..."
