Chapter 414 - Ferry Ride

Name:Help...My Wife is a Spy Author:Yunyi
The first year of being a mother flew by quickly. Fortunately, Laurie was a relatively easy child to take care of. Apart from the first 3 months of adjusting, the Wus quickly fell into a routine, and they worked well as a team. In the mornings, Halia would wake up to feed Laurie before she started work. After that, Jackson would take care of Laurie between breakfast and lunch. Just after lunch, Jackson would head over to Macau to check on the casino while Halia got Laurie to have an afternoon nap. She would then clean the house and when Jackson returned from the casino in the evening, he would cook dinner while she did a little bit more work. Finally, after dinner, they would have some free time together to either play with Laurie or watch a movie. This routine continued until the day of Laurie's first birthday.

Normally, women liked to plan events like birthdays, but Jackson knew how busy Halia was with trying to track down the last founder of The Organization so he offered to organize Laurie's birthday party instead. After all, the casino had many connections with the events industry.

During her investigation of Amun's 5th Super Soldier, Halia had actually started to suspect that the Super Soldier had gone to look for the last founder of The Organization. Based on the meticulous nature in which the Super Soldier made his way through Europe, it was the only thing that made sense. Initially, it took her an entire month just to discover that the Super Soldier had gone upwards into Europe rather than down to Africa. After that, he was spotted in locations all over the EU; hopping across borders like he was playing a game of tag. It was like he was everywhere and it took Halia and a small team from the Interpol headquarters many sleepless nights to piece together a timeline. The man was practically in a different city every day - and he met multiple people every single day! It was hard to tell if he had reached his destination yet and whether he had already met with the founder...

Halia trusted Jackson with her daughter's first birthday and was glad that she could focus on work. It had already been a year since they captured Amun and she was getting anxious. The longer they took, the harder the Super Soldier was to trace. At one point, she even tried to work backwards by speaking to Lotus, interviewing Amun, and questioning Boginya to see if they could provide any information on the founder, but the only thing she knew about the last founder was the fact that he was known as Odin and he was originally from Germany. Halia had been to Germany before and she knew how meticulous the Germans were; this man was no different. He hid his tracks carefully and kept an extremely low profile. Unlike Amun and Boginya, he did not have people running around using his name nor did he have any friends, family, lovers...etc. He appeared to be a complete hermit and this worked well for him. Halia couldn't find anyone that had worked directly with him, nor anyone that had seen his face. Even Amun and Boginya had only met him once, and he had a mask on at that time. Just like his name, he was like a mysterious God. No one even knew if he actually existed, but they knew he had a plan.

Laurie's birthday party was to be held at the casino in Macau. Jackson took Laurie to the casino first to prepare and thoughtfully told his wife that he had asked Emerson and Avaleigh to drive her there when the celebrations were about to officially start. That way, she could have a bit of time to receive the latest updates from her agents. Halia thanked him and agreed.

As soon as she connected her encrypted call with her 4 BTA agents, she spoke to Wolf first. For the past year, Wolf had been deep undercover in Medellin, Colombia. Originally, his mission was just to locate one of Amun's missing Super Soldiers like the other BTAs, but due to the fact that a drug cartel was involved, Interpol sent him undercover instead. During his initial investigation, he had actually discovered that Amun had hired the Super Soldier to the drug cartel as a bodyguard for their boss. Upon further investigation, the other BTA's discovered that their Super Soldiers were also on hire. That was when they realized that Amun's intention for the technology was to make money by hiring fully-customizable Super Soldiers! The possibilities were endless and varied! For example, the one in India was hired for a political assassination, the one in Tibet was hired as a hacker for one of the paramilitary groups, and the one in LA was hired as a trophy wife!

It was actually a smart business model. Not only were Amun's Super Soldiers customizable, they also only lasted 3 months due to the constraints of the technology. This meant, his clients had to pay him every 3 months if they wanted to keep their Super Soldier or they would just be left with a completely inferior product. Unfortunately, Amun was captured and his base was closed down. After three months, the drug cartel in Colombia had a useless bodyguard that only knew some basic self-defense. Thus, they had no choice but to replace him. That was when Wolf stepped in. With his skills, he was exactly what they were looking for, and he had been working undercover with them since.

"Last time I spoke to you, you said you had finally gathered enough evidence to take the cartel down. Any progress?" Halia asked.

On the other end of the phone, Wolf was huffing and puffing like he was rushing somewhere, "A few more days... Colombian Interpol will raid this place."

"Do you need backup? I can send Hummingbird to help you," Halia offered.

Hummingbird had already captured her Super Soldier 2-3 months ago and was living in LA while awaiting new orders, so she was ready to hop on a plane to provide assistance if needed.

Right at that moment, as though it was fate, an announcement on Hummingbird's end of the phone could suddenly be heard in the background, "Boarding has now commenced, please have your tickets ready..."

Halia raised an eyebrow, "Are you going somewhere, Hummingbird?"

Hummingbird quickly covered her mouthpiece and looked at the person next to her awkwardly. The announcement was completely unexpected.

"Why didn't you put your phone on mute until it was your turn to talk?" Orca complained as she held her own phone next to her ear.

"I forgot," Hummingbird whispered. "What should I tell her?"

Orca sighed and rolled her eyes. She then smirked cheekily and said, "Tell her you're going on a ferry ride..."

Hummingbird also smirked. Yes! She could just say that! She removed her hand from her mouthpiece and replied, "The weather's nice today, so I decided to go on a ferry ride..."

"Oh," Halia replied without any suspicion.

Hummingbird looked at Orca and stuck out her tongue playfully. She was technically telling the truth. She was indeed boarding a ferry. Halia simply didn't know that she was boarding it with Orca, and that neither of them was where she thought they were...
