Like Throwing Herself into His Arms Impatiently
Li Ji caught the sight of Hua Manman’s momentary stillness, and the smile on his face deepened.
He had Chen Wangbei back away, then gestured towards Hua Manman, beckoning for her to come push him and his wheelchair outside.
Hua Manman hated herself for saying those extra words just now!
She was just being polite, how could this man take her words so seriously?!
There was no turning back. She could only gather her spirits and put an expression of unbridled joy on her face as she quickly stepped forward and pushed the wheelchair-bound Li Ji outside.
In order to accommodate Li Ji and provide him ease of access, none of the doors in the estate had thresholds to step over, and all of the stairways had slopes on the sides.
Li Ji hadn’t said where he wanted to go, he only mentioned wanting to get some fresh air. Hua Manman could only push his wheelchair as they wandered around the four corners of the estate.
Who would have thought that wandering would last all the way to half-past midnight.
Hua Manman felt as though she had just walked a marathon.
She was so tired that her waist was sore, her back was aching, and her legs and feet felt cramped. Fine beads of sweat appeared on her back and forehead.
Upon seeing that the sky was almost starting to lighten with dawn’s early rays, she really couldn’t take another step.
“Wangye,” she asked as she panted. “It’s already getting late. Shouldn’t we turn in to rest for now?”
Originally she had been worried about how to deal with the consummation of their marriage tonight.
But at this point she was too tired to worry about anything anymore. She just wanted to immediately lie down and have a good night’s rest.
Li Ji turned his head slightly, looking deep into her two beautiful eyes that were filled with begging. He decided that he had had enough fun for now, and was finally willing to let her off the hook.
He spat out his words slowly:
“Fine then.”
As if Hua Manman had received a great pardon, she pushed him back towards their room without saying a word.
The interior portion of the estate was very large, and coupled with the darkness of night, it was easy to get lost.
Fortunately, Hua Manman had a good sense of direction. Even though this was her first time at Zhao Wang‘s estate, she still remembered the route that she had taken, and smoothly pushed Li Ji back into their new room.
The red dragon and phoenix candles in the new room were still burning quietly.
The red brocade quilt laid on top of the bed looked bright and eye-catching.
Hua Manman was just about to call someone in to help serve them when she heard Li Ji lazily say:
“I dislike being served by others.”
Hua Manman took a while to register his words and stared at him blankly.
Li Ji gazed back at her with a faint smile, as if looking at a fun new toy.
“Since you have already entered my harem,” he continued. “You are now my woman. In the future, I will allow you to wait upon me in close quarters instead of those servants.”
What could Hua Manman say?
She could only angrily spit curses about how inhumane Zhao Wang is in her heart while on the surface she happily replied:
“To wait upon Wangye in close quarters is a blessing for this concubine that must have been accumulated from three lifetimes of karma!”
When Li Ji heard her inner thoughts, the smile on his face deepened further, and he seemed to be in a very good mood.
Li Ji appeared to be quite thin, but in the end he is still a tall man at over 180 cm (about 5 foot 11). Along with the weight of his skeleton alone, overall there was no way for this man to be light.
Because his legs and feet were inconvenient and rendered him unable to move freely, he could only lay on the bed with someone else’s support.
Hua Manman sucked in her breath and tried her best to exert all her strength, but only managed to half-push half-drag him onto the bed.
After that there was freshening up and changing clothes.
Hua Manman had never waited upon anyone before, so her movements were extraordinarily clumsy and unfamiliar.
For a very long time, she was unable to find the location of the buckle on Zhao Wang’s belt around his waist. Her two hands felt around here and there on his waist, and she herself got closer and closer to him, until the voice of Zhao Wang called out from above her head:
“How long are you planning on touching?”
Only now did Hua Manman snap back to her senses. Before she herself had realized, her entire body had already weaseled its way into Zhao Wang‘s embrace!
This posture made it look as though she was impatient and had thrown herself into his arms.
She was so frightened that she hurriedly retracted her two offending claws and quickly retreated back a few steps, distancing herself from him.
“I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry, this concubine didn’t do it on purpose!”
Li Ji glanced at her for a moment, discerning that she truly hadn’t meant to do so on purpose this time.
“Give me your hand,” he said nonchalantly.
Hua Manman raised both her hands in a daze and stretched them out towards him.
Li Ji held her wrists and pulled her over. Placing her hands on his waist belt, he said in a low voice:
“The buckle is right here.”
