Xyle, after glancing at the owner who left them, cast a transparent barrier around their table to close off the sound. There’s no reason for the owner to return to their table, so he did this to keep their conversation confidential.

Ella spoke, only after he nodded, “Someone tampered with the Tear of Ceiling so that it can be brought here. It seems it pulled a few elements out that the dragon child needs to become an adult. The succession wasn’t completed because of that.”

Xyle’s expression turned grim after hearing Ella’s words. That was bad news. There were times when the succession didn’t manage to fully transfer the elements even without external interference. And every time that happened, severe drought came upon the land.

“But in the Toiken’s case, a drought similar to the records occurred,” noted Xyle.

“That’s fortunate for Toiken. I heard the dragon child stayed most of his youth there. So, he sparingly took the elements from the Tolkien Empire without much trouble. But Didi said he’ll take as much as he needs from Duffspe and Martin because they’re unrelated to him. Isn’t that unfair? Turning a disaster into a greater disaster just because he feels like it?” said Ella.

“Why…” said Xyle.

Ella looked at Xyle as he became more serious and made a teasing look. Then she said, “But you shouldn’t be on the Duffspe side too, right? You should be relieved that Toiken made it through safely. They could have taken on the great disaster all alone. This is why the connection is always the problem.”

“Ella.” Xyle retained his serious expression as he called Ella, who giggled after throwing a pointless joke.

‘Oops. Was that joke too much?’ Ella clicked her tongue and remembered who she meeted just a while ago.

“Alright, alright. You just seemed too serious. Did you forget who I met?”

“Oh, right. So, what did he say?”

“He said the lacking elements can be substituted with other things. It’s not perfect, but I got a shopping list from Didi. If we prepare these, then we might at least be able to prevent a great disaster. If we get to fill this unknown portion of the list as well, then we might see an ordinary drought.”

“Can we stop the drought entirely?”

“I asked, but he said that’s not possible. A world rule or something. There were so many rules. I guess they don’t have it easy either.”

They were beings that could be considered gods that managed this world, but they were bound to many rules. They couldn’t kill Clara and couldn’t fight against outside forces trying to destroy this world’s foundation. Although they had the power to solve everything, they couldn’t do anything that made them feel more miserable. It was to the point that Ella could feel that.

“But they have many privileges as well,” commented Xyle.

He seemed to react unpleasantly at Ella for feeling sympathetic towards them. She grinned. Then she said what she felt while looking at them with a bright tone in her voice.

“I’ll take less privilege for fewer reasons. That fits me better.”

If Ella was offered a privilege like Didi but had to live like them, she was certain she would reject it. She just peeked a bit, but their lives had too many responsibilities and restrictions.

Ella preferred to live her life to the fullest without knowing everything. She didn’t like having every living being on her back. Although she didn’t even start to become the hero that she was going to be temporary, she could already feel the burden. In that regard, Ranhee’s life, even though it was quite busy, was very pleasant.

She also liked the life of Ella that she lived for the past two months. She even thought that it was the life that she truly wanted. A life where she can have a full eight hours of sleep, read as much as she wanted, and dive into her studies. It was so nice.
