Floid told Quinn to learn how to use the holy sword a few months ago and he wanted to know how far Quinn had gone with that task.
Quinn was in so much shock that she didn't even remember to bow! What the hell was Floid doing here!? She has never seen Floid come towards his training room before! It wasn't until she felt Pyra's eyes glaring at her that she quickly bowed. Floid stopped in front of the two of them and looked down at them as he spoke.
"Tell me, Pyra, how long can my sister wield the sword before it overwhelms her?"
Pyra immediately stood straight and answered that Quinn could only wield the sword for ten minutes in a fight before it overwhelms her! Quinn was shocked by this and she looked at Pyra like Pyra was talking nonsense! Didn't Pyra just see her wielding the sword for an hour!? She can definitely wield it for more than ten minutes!
But Pyra didn't stop and she continued talking in that same monotone voice.
"Although she can wield the sword for an hour when she is not in a fight or using any mana, if she is in the middle of a battle and her opponent is making her use other spells, then I don't believe she will last for more than ten minutes. She will run out of mana and the sword will overwhelm her,"
Floid hummed in interest. So Quinn could wield the sword for an hour without her doing anything else but once she starts using other skills and some mana, then all of that is out the window, and she will only last for ten minutes! How disappointing.
Floid knew that Quinn had a strong will but was this her limit? She has been training for more than two months using that sword now and she can only use it for about ten minutes!?
Quinn could easily see the disappointment on Floids face and she looked away from his stare once he turned to her. She was trying her damn hardest here but she knew that Floid wouldn't be satisfied! He is never satisfied! As a demon. Quinn had no right to be holding the holy sword. The mere fact that she could hold it for ten minutes after training for only two months should be a great achievement!
But Floid could feel nothing but disappointment and he turned to Alucard.
"Take my coat,"
Alucard came forward and took off the black coat that Floid was wearing and Floid told Pyra to hand him a sword. Pyra was shocked by the request but she didn't allow it to show as she just moved to the other end of the room and picked up a sword from the wall where it was hanging. She came back and handed it to Floid and Floid tested out the balance of the sword. It was good.
Quinn was just staring at the whole thing in pure and utter confusion! What the hell was Floid doing!? Why the hell was he taking a sword!? And why the hell is he looking at me like he expects me to do something!? Wait, don't tell me that he actually wants to fight me!? Is he crazy!? Hasn't anyone told him how strong he is yet!? He'll kill me!!
"Pick up your sword, Quinn. I'll see whether or not you have really come as far as Pyra thinks you have. Try not to disappoint me any more than you already have,"
Quinn heard Floid say this from the other end of the room before he started to walk forward! He didn't even allow her to pick up her sword yet! Quinn immediately took two steps back until she was standing beside her sword and she bent to pick it up! Thankfully, Quinn was wearing a shirt and trousers instead of the maid's outfit so she had far more freedom to move than before!
"Gasp!!!"
But immediately Quinn stood up to face Floid, she gasped in shock as she saw Floid standing right in front of her! She didn't even hear him cover the distance between them! Floid brought the sword down in a sharp swing and Quinn rose her sword and intercepted it!
Clang!
The force of the swing made Quinn's nee shake and it almost made Quinn take a step back! That swing wasn't even that fast and Quinn knew she could see it in her sleep, so what the fuck is this amount of pressure behind it!?
Floid dislodged the sword and he suddenly moved to the side and sent another swing at her! Quinn blocked it again and she blocked a third one before she had to parry a stab that would have gutted her!
Clang!
Clang!
Clang!
Clang!
Clang!
As they started to move, Quinn could see that Floid was getting faster and faster! He was still using the same amount of pressure but the speed of his swings was definitely increasing! Quin could do nothing else as she backpedaled and started to block the slashes over and over again! She desperately looked for an opening to see if she could attack him, but every time she thinks she sees an opening, Floid suddenly increased his speed and she would lose that opening! It was so fucking frustrating!
But that wasn't even the worst part of it! The worst part of it was his face! That fucking face that wasn't even showing any emotions! There was nothing but complete and utter boredom on that face and Quinn could tell that Floid was not even showing the slightest bit of effort. He was fighting without even trying and he was this good!? It pissed Quinn off far more than it 1/should have! Just how strong will Floid be if he was actually trying to kill her!?
Quinn already heard from the other maids about what Floid did to an army of undead before! He killed all of them singlehandedly and he made the commander kill herself because of the shame of the defeat. Would Quinn even last a second if Floid fought like that against her!?
Clang!
Quinn quickly brought her sword up and blocked a slash from Floid that would've slashed her stomach open and she immediately caught an opening near Floid's bicep as he leaned to the side! It was the first time she would see him lacking a proper defense and she didn't even try to miss it! Quinn knew that it could be a trap, but she was willing to take that risk! This is the first opening that she has seen in Floid since they started fighting and she is not letting it go!
She grit her teeth and sent a slash straight at Floid but she was stunned as Floid simply moved! One moment there was an opening, and she thought that she would slash him, but in the next moment, he was behind her and his sword was raised above her head.
Slash!
"Gah!"
Floid brought down his sword and slashed across Quinn's back leaving a shallow gash there! Quinn screamed in pain and she grit her teeth in pain as she stumbled forward! Did Floid just fucking wound her!? Wasn't this meant to be a spar!? Why would he wound me if it was just a spar!?
Quinn looked back at Floid and she saw him handing his sword over to Pyra as he spoke.
"You are slow. Your fundamentals are strong but you are very slow in using them. Almost like you are afraid of the ground and you don't want to make a mistake so you follow through on each step like a scared child desperate for someone to tell you how well you are doing. It is very disappointing and if you don't learn to trust your instincts in a fight you'll never grow past it. Let go of the sword, Quinn,"
Floid suddenly said this to Quinn. And Quinn was surprised when she looked down and she saw that both her hands were red and bleeding from the holy sword! It was only after she saw it that she felt the intense pain that came with it!! Quinn quickly let go of the sword and dropped it to the ground as she hissed in pain! She started to apply [Healing] to her body to close the wounds and she sighed as she felt the wound slowly closing.
Quinn was so frustrated and angry in her fight with Floid that her anger completely covered up the pain that she was feeling. Quinn felt like a failure in that fight! She couldn't even get a single hit on Floid and the one time that she was about to get a hit, he moved so fast that she couldn't even see him! It felt like she was a child and he was a parent teaching her manners! It was very frustrating!
Floid could see the anger on Quinn's face but he didn't care. Maybe this will be enough to make her grow past the childish way of fighting! He just turned and he started to walk out of the room with Alucard and Quinn suddenly called out to him before he could leave.
"Do you really think I can do it?"
Quinn was asking Floid about the task that he gave her a long time ago. Floid told Quinn that she is meant to be strong enough to stand side by side with the other members of his household or she will end up dying. It sounded like an impossible task, especially with the sort of people Floid has in his household. Each of them was so strong that no one could compare them to anyone else in the demon world and Floid expected Quinn to get up there as well!? Quinn was not sure she could do it.
Floid looked back at Quinn before he looked at the burns on her hand. Floid had no interest in helping to boost Quinn's morale, but he only gave her a few words.
"Whether you can do it or not is none of my concern, it is not a choice. I only know that you are my blood. And I know exactly what I expect from you because of that. Do not disappoint me, Quinn. Pyra. Teach her to move. A snail holding a sword is still a snail and it is obviously not enough to save her in a fight."
