These were the words of A-rin, the only daughter of her aunt and a cousin of the same age as Se-ha. A-rin was a drop-out. After that, instead of looking for a proper job, she worked part-time at convenience stores, saying she didn’t want to do the same boring job every day. The money she earned was spent on cell phone gacha games.
They acted as if it was all too natural that Se-ha took responsibility for them since she was fed and raised by them since she was young. It seemed like they had long since forgotten they took her estate and insurance money.
That day was the day when she returned from a business trip overseas and was exhausted.
“Where’s your mother?”
“I was just about to call you. Find her before my dad comes back. She went out with the living expenses account while saying something like it was for a prayer or table setting or whatnot.”
A-rin handed her a card. The business card was in noisy colors: <Opening a second life! Kim Do-ryeong, shaman, who is prettier than flowers> It was written with childish, splendid, and questionable characters.
She quickly made her way to the written address. Red candles in a disgusting shapes were lined up in the dark room. The murals created a gloomy and bizarre atmosphere about whatever god they worshipped. Kim Do-ryung had a unique face and she could not tell his age.
“Give me back my money. I earned that myself.”
Just because the atmosphere was scary there was no way she would go down without a fight. It wasn’t the first time this had happened, and there wasn’t an ounce of curiosity left in her.
“Jeez. Sister, the gods say it’s been a long time since they saw someone with eyes like yours.”
Kim Do-ryung studied her face. When he started to say something, a loud banging on the door could be heard. While Kim Do-ryung was paralyzed, a bunch of rough-looking men stepped in swearing. They looked like people who you did not want to get involved with.
“You, did you see a fucking con-artist by the name of Kim Do-ryung?”
Amongst the sudden havoc, Kim Do-ryung had disappeared and the window was wide open. Se-ha thought for a moment, then shook her head.
“I was conned and came looking for my mother’s money. If you catch him, please tell me.”
They did not doubt the woman in a suit, looking like a normal office worker. The men who made a mess finally left, grinding their teeth and saying they would look around the area.
After waiting for a moment, Se-ha pushed the mat on the floor of the room with her feet and opened the door on the floor. Hiding under the floor, Kim Do-ryung startled in surprise.
“Sister, how did you know?”
“First, stop calling me sister, and I noticed a strange empty sound when I sat down earlier. I have a job where you have to be quick with these things.”
“The gods are asking why you did not tell them where I was.”
“It seemed like one out of four limbs would disappear if you got caught. Then it would be harder to get my money back. I just need my money.”
Kim Do-ryung laughed as if she was right and got out of the floor.
“Anyway, thanks for that. Sister, my god is telling me that I should repay you for saving my life, what do you think? Do you want your fortune read?”
“How would someone who doesn’t know his own future do anything like that?”
Se-ha let out a smirk. Kim Do-ryung looked closely at her eyes, not paying her any attention.
“There’s a lot of ambition in those eyes. You’re a person who always tilts her head and looks only at the top, but these types of people are divided into two groups. Either die, or get what you want…wait. Hehe, the god over there just told me… Sister, do you have someone you so desperately want that he appears in your dreams?”
When Kim Do-ryung asked that question, Jang Kwon-woo’s face flashed past her eyes. She even had a dream yesterday. She started working as a secretary, promising to seduce Jang Kwon-woo somehow and make him her own, but when she realized it, five years had passed.
This was all because she liked the work. She liked working. In fact, no matter how much she stayed up all night, her body was tired, but her mind was not. Occasionally, there were many times when she swore at herself after being immersed in work despite a perfect situation where she could have seduced Jang Kwon-woo.
So, it was her fault that the progress was so sluggish. No, it was also because Jang Kwon-woo was like an iron wall that blocked all her advances.
Kim Do-ryung smiled, opened the small bag he was wearing on his waist, and rummaged through it.
“But sister, I don’t know if meeting me at this time is good fortune or bad luck for you. I’m in a position where I have no choice but to repay the favor, but I feel sorry for that man…If you leave this alone, fate will naturally work its way…”
He pouted his lips as if he was genuinely sorry.
“Although, it’s too bad that this man is lasting out. Besides, the man you want now is this man. So, even if there is opposition from above, there is nothing we can do about it.”
Murmuring words she couldn’t understand, he looked around her, and what he summoned from the bag was the lipstick.
“Put this lipstick on and kiss him. Then the man you desire will be yours.”
