"Isn't this dangerous?" Hig spoke as he looked at Karkas.
What Hig was talking about was the formation that the goblins undertook while marching forward towards their home.
After all, spreading the forces that they have is not such a bright move.
Even Hig, who didn't really interfere in matters like these, thought that it was bad.
He just couldn't speak it out when Karkas first told them because it was Karkas.
Well, it seems he gained the necessary confidence and courage to tell it to Karkas as he was speaking to him now.
That was why Hig looked so dignified as he looked at Karkas, who was thinking deeply right now.
Karkas didn't speak for a long time, and he just watched the goblins continue their journey.
It was when the clouds parted in the sky and shone the moon's light on the land that Karkas began to speak.
And what Karkas said blew Hig's mind away.
"Hmm. It is dangerous."
After all, Karkas admitted that this formation was dangerous. Hig expected Karkas to have another plan in mind, and this formation was just something like a decoy.
However, it seems Hig was wrong as Karkas continued explaining.
"In this formation, one side could be attacked by monsters at any moment, and we may lose more goblins than necessary."
Karkas then looked at Hig as his red eyes shone ominously. It wasn't because Karkas was scary or something like that.
It wasn't also because he was angry about something, nor was he planning something dangerous.
At least, for Hig, it wasn't anything about that.
Why?
It was because Hig could observe the raging flames of determination lit in that red eyes of Karkas.
Those flames that looked like it would burn anything up to achieve his goal!
That was how Karkas was looking right now as he continued speaking.
"However, are we doing this for the goblins?"
"Are we going back to our village for the sake of the goblins?"
"No." Karkas said firmly and powerfully that his voice somewhat echoed in the forest.
Karkas then raised his arms up as he pointed in a certain direction. He looked at that spot longingly as he continued speaking.
"It is because of the king that we are going back to the village."
Karkas' fangs involuntarily showed themselves as Karkas' face contorted badly.
"It is for the sake of the king that we are killing the monsters in the forest and trampling every other life."
Karkas' red eyes became bloodshot red as his intensity increased. Despite that, Hig couldn't feel any pressure at all.
When Karkas was like this before, Hig would always feel intimidated. Hig would always feel weak before Karkas.
No…it was actually the Elder who made Hig be familiar with those pressures and whatnot. Karkas just gave off those pressure right after the Elder made Hig feel it.
That was why Hig had a thought.
'Is it connected to the…' However, Hig couldn't continue thinking as Karkas spoke once more.
His voice was powerful and solemn that it wouldn't be weird to think that he was angry.
"It is for the king."
However, Karkas was not angry at all as he continued speaking as he pointed his finger at Hig.
"Now, is your life more important than the king?"
What Karkas said was something rude, and disrespectful, but Hig answered without even stuttering or even thinking!
"No."
Karkas then pointed to the goblins who were stationed at the front of the group.
"Are their lives more important than the king?"
"No."
"Are the normal goblins' lives more important than the king?"
"No."
"Are the blessed goblins' lives more important than the king?"
"No."
"That's right. The king is more important than anything in the world for us goblins."
Karkas spoke as if he were a parent telling a story to his child. His chest and shoulder were raised up as if he were proud of how Hig answered his questions.
Karkas then raised both of his arms and opened them wide!
"That's right! This formation is for the king's sake, and we goblins only exist for his sake alone."
Karkas then looked at Hig with eyes that could burn!
"Now, are you telling me this formation is still dangerous?"
It was then.
Hig was confused about why Karkas was asking about things that didn't need to be asked.
That was why when Hig heard what Karkas asked, he opened his eyes so wide.
Hig's throat gulped some saliva involuntarily as he realized the mistake that he made.
"N-no." Hig stuttered a little bit as he choked on his saliva.
He then looked at Karkas with a renewed gaze. After all, Karkas was already looking at several steps ahead!
To think that Karkas would actually try to sacrifice every single goblin for the sake of the king!
No, was it even a sacrifice when all of them agrees to do the same?
Even the blessed goblins would happily sacrifice their lives just for the sake of the king.
That isn't sacrificing anymore when they think it is only right for them to do so!
Even Hig doesn't believe that dying for the king is considered a sacrifice.
That was why everything became clear for Hig now. Things that were cloudy and murky about the formation became clear as Hig muttered with shock evident in his eyes.
After all, he couldn't believe that he didn't think of it.
"T-this formation is for the king alone…?"
And when Karkas heard that, Karkas spoke readily as if he were waiting for Hig to say that.
"That's right."
Absurd. One would think that it was absurd and insane, but Hig doesn't think that way at all as he nodded his head while speaking.
"I see…"
It was then.
As Karkas was satisfied that Hig was able to realize what Karkas was talking about, he then tapped Hig's shoulder as he spoke.
"Let's go. They're gone now."
Karkas then jumped from the tree that he was standing on to another tree as he followed the goblins.
Hig just looked at Karkas dazedly before following him. It still didn't register in his mind properly, but Hig was sure about something.
And that was…
"Karkas is something else…"
