He watched the screen and saw her pin a man under her feet and snatch the bag from his hand. He did not need to see what happened next.

“Well? You’ve arrested the wrong person, huh?” Shen Yin smugly sat on the hospital bed, her eyes cold.

Lian Jing ignored her and called his earlier contact. He ordered, “Capture the man in the surveillance video and bring him to my apartment. I’ll interrogate him myself.”

He put down the phone and looked at the woman on the hospital bed, who was looking extremely cocky. He said coldly, “Not only did you help get the bag back, but you also saved Grandpa’s life in time. You are my great benefactor. If you need anything in the future, feel free ask me for help.”

“Sure. I have one thing on my mind right now.” Shen Yin strolled over to Lian Jing and stared silently into his eyes. “Apologize to me.”

“What did you say?” A hint of anger appeared on Lian Jing’s face. This woman had gone too far. How dare she demand an apology from him?

“Change your request,” Out of habit, he said this as an order, but this woman obviously was not going to buy it.

“I’m only going to say this one last time. Apologize.” Shen Yin glared back at him determinedly. She showed no sign of fear or any intention of yielding to him.

Lian Jing narrowed his eyes. After a violent, inward struggle, he forced himself to whisper into her ear through gritted teeth. “I’m sorry.”

“Very good.” Satisfied, Shen Yin took a step back and raised her eyebrows as she admired his humiliated expression. “I hope President Lian will learn his lesson and stop being so high handed in his dealings.”

Lian Jing frowned as he looked into her eyes. For some reason, his heart had suddenly started beating faster at the moment that he drew close to her. A strong sense of familiarity lingered in his heart.

“Have we met before?” Lian Jing tried his best to think back, his eyes fixed on her fair and delicate face.

“No.” Shen Yin walked around him and pushed the door to the ward open. Suddenly, she turned and added, “I hope I never meet you again.”

After leaving the ward, Shen Yin hurriedly took out her cell phone. There were already dozens of calls from her best friend and Shen Nian.

She quickly called back to report that she was safe. Shen Nian’s childish voice immediately came over the phone. “Mom! Don’t be afraid. I’ve called the police. Where are you now? Auntie Li Zi and I will come and get you.”

Warmth filled Shen Yin’s heart and she immediately felt soothed. “I’m fine. Don’t ask the police come. Wait for me at the airport with Aunt Li Zi. I’ll be right there.”

“Hey! Yin Yin.” Li Zi took Shen Nian’s cell phone and said worriedly, “Are you really okay? Where are you? I’ll drive over to pick you up now. Don’t come to the airport. You’re wasting time.”

“Then let’s meet at your house.” Shen Yin looked at the sky. She had been hungry all day. She suggested excitedly, “Send me the address. I’ll take a taxi over.”

“Alright.” Li Zi had no choice but to agree, because she could not think of a better plan. ‘”I’ll see you later, then.”

Shen Yin hung up. She felt extremely anxious when she thought of how Nian Nian had personally witnessed her being taken away. He must have felt completely helpless and worried, and would have blamed himself.

She was already used to letting go of many of her emotions. Shen Nian was her only soft spot, that she could not bear to be parted from.

She anxiously flagged a passing taxi and urged the driver to hurry to the address that Li Zi had sent her.

When she arrived at the entrance of the neighborhood, Shen Nian was standing beside Li Zi with an icy expression. When he saw her, he quickly ran over and hugged her. “Mom, are you injured?”

“I’m fine.” She stroked his hair and smiled at Li Zi. “What good food have you prepared for us? I’m starving.”

“You only know how to eat! Do you know how worried I was when I heard Nian Nian say that a strange man had dragged you away? What happened?” Li Zi’s sharp eyes caught sight her wrist that she had inadvertently exposed. “How did this happen? Why is it so swollen?”

“Mom! Did that man hit you?” Shen Nian let go of Shen Yin and carefully held her hand up. His heart ached so much that he almost cried.

“Don’t worry. I’m really fine. Let’s go upstairs.” Shen Yin pulled her hand away, not wanting him to continue worrying.

Li Zi tried to nod calmly. “Sure, but you have to tell us everything!”

“Definitely,” Shen Yin agreed. She took Shen Nian’s hand and followed Li Zi back to her house.
