65 Cooking

Meanwhile, Lian Jing was sitting at the head of a conference table. He looked down at his cell phone and suddenly laughed. Although he did not laugh loudly, but it shocked the Manager, who was trembling as he made his report.

He looked at the President’s assistant, Zhong Xin, as if asking for help. He was in his forties, but Lian Jing’s laugh had frightened him so badly that he began to sweat profusely. He suspected that he had said something wrong in his report.

Zhong Xin coughed softly and gave the Manager an assuring look, gesturing for him to continue.

His President’s ice-cold expression would not thaw because of this bald man in his forties. Looking at the President’s smug expression, it was obvious that he had seen something related to Miss Shen!

The meeting gradually came to an end. The group of people talked until they were nearly hoarse, but Lian Jing only nodded.

The senior managers of the company felt as if they had been pardoned. They stood up and said a few flattering words before hurrying away.

After sending them off, Zhong Xin bowed and stood beside Lian Jing. “President Lian, these are the documents sent by the various divisions. They need your signature.”

After he finished speaking, the meeting room was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. Lian Jing did not like to be disturbed when he was dealing with work matters. Zhong Xin maintained a deathly silence as he stood there waiting for Lian Jing to sign the documents.

Lian Jing carefully checked the terms of the contract. Document that were sent to him all involved huge sums of money. Otherwise, Zhong Xin would handle them himself.

After checking the document, he took out a pen and signed his name. Zhong Xin immediately stepped forward to put away the contract. Just as he was about to ask Lian Jing what he wanted for lunch, he heard Lian Jing address him first.

“Zhong Xin, have you forgotten something?”

Zhong Xin carefully raised his head and looked at Lian Jing’s expression. Seeing Lian Jing’s unfriendly expression, he secretly sighed at his bad luck. “President Lian, when I went to pick up Miss Shen yesterday, I met someone…”

“Who?” Lian Jing looked up at him coldly, frost gathering in his gaze.

Zhong Xin did not dare to lie, so he bit the bullet and give a word-for-word account of what Shen Yin had said yesterday.

Lian Jing nodded. His face was expressionless, but after working Lian Jing for so many years, Zhong Xin could sense that Lian Jing was on the verge of losing his temper.

“Little boyfriend? Ex-husband?” Lian Jing snorted and casually flung down the expensive pen that he was holding.

Zhong Xin’s was sweating profusely. Just picking up Miss Shen from work was already so stimulating. If President Lian asked him to pick her up again in the future, his heart probably would not be able to take the strain.

He thought for a moment and advised softly, “President Lian, Miss Shen doesn’t like that man called Meng Heng from the police station. He’s no match for you.”

Lian Jing glanced at him and snorted. “He’s nothing. Last time, you suggested giving her a dress and a necklace. That went quite well. What should I give next?”

Zhong Xin choked and said tactfully, “President Lian, gifts are not the only way of treating a girl nicely. You also have to make an effort and target her preferences.”

Lian Jing sank into deep thought. As a result, when Shen Yin returned home that night, she saw the servants gathered around the kitchen door in shock. She could occasionally hear Shen Nian scolding someone fiercely. “Daddy, you’re so stupid. Eggs aren’t fried like this. The ribs aren’t done yet. You can’t scoop them out.”

“Yin Yin, you’re back.” Shen Yin was curious and wanted to take a look, but Grandpa Lian tugged at her arm and pulled her to the living room sofa to sit down.

“Just wait here. Little Jing said he wants to give you a surprise.” Grandpa Lian looked at her kindly. The more he saw of her, the more satisfied he was with his grand daughter-in-law.

Only a dignified and smart girl like Shen Yin could give birth to a clever boy like Shen Nian.

“Mom! Quick, come and eat. This is Daddy’s first attempt!” After a while, Shen Nian skipped out of the kitchen. He held Shen Yin and Grandpa Lian’s hands and walked towards the dining room.

“Slow down. Grandpa Lian can’t walk that fast.” Shen Yin smiled and patted Shen Nian’s head. She was relieved that Shen Nian was finally showed some liveliness appropriate for his age.

In the past, he and Shen Yin had depended on each other to survive and Shen Nian became a very mature child who took care of his mother’s every need.

Ever since he entered the Lian family and had someone to rely on, Shen Nian could finally act like a child and display the innocence and cuteness unique to his age.

Shen Yin was touched to see this.

She felt like crying, but before she could feel any regret, she smelled something great.
