85 Snubbed

When Shen Yin woke up the next day, her lungs hurt, her throat felt sore, and her head hurt so much that it felt like it was about to split open. It did not feel like a hangover at all, but more like she had drowned.

After thinking repeatedly about applying for leave, she decided to get up and go to work.

Shen Yin lifted her blanket and suddenly froze. Her small face turned from red to white, and then she suddenly lowered her head to check her body. When she did not find anything amiss, she put on her clothes nervously, her heart pounding.

She nervously opened the door and jumped in fright when she saw a boy looking at her resentfully.

“Mom, who were you drinking with last night?” Shen Nian pouted and complained to her pitifully. “Mom, you’re not allowed stay out so late drinking.”

“Okay, Nian Nian.” Shen Yin looked furtively in the direction of Lian Jing’s room. She heaved a sigh of relief when she did not see any movement there.

After drinking a cup of honey water made by the servant to reduce her hangover, she looked around the living room and realized that it seemed to be much quieter today.

“Mom, are you looking for Dad?” Shen Nian batted his eyes mischievously. It seemed that Mom was used to seeing Dad every morning and asking him to send her to work.

However, Shen Nian subconsciously shivered when he thought of his father this morning. He kindly informed her, “Dad left a long time ago. He was very upset. Mom must have drunk too much and made Dad angry.”

Shen Yin vaguely remembered that she seemed to have seen Lian Jing last night. He seemed to have said something else, but she could not remember anything.

She looked at Shen Nian and asked carefully, “How did I get back last night?”

“Daddy brought you home. You drank so much. Daddy was very worried about you.” Shen Nian looked at her reproachfully. His pitiful eyes made it seem like she had committed some heinous crime.

Shen Yin patted her burning cheeks in frustration and looked at Shen Nian oddly. “What happened after I came back?”

Shen Nian shook his head. “Daddy told me to sleep early.”

Then she had been alone with Lian Jing?

Shen Yin took a deep breath. This man would not have done anything to satisfy his personal desires while she was drunk, right? However, other than the suspicious pain in her lungs, she did not feel any other discomfort.

Shen Nian stared suspiciously at his mother, who was in a daze. His eyes were cold. “Mom, what exactly are you asking? Did something else happen that I don’t know about?”

“No.” Shen Yin denied it immediately, guiltily avoiding his eyes.

Who knew if Lian Jing had taken advantage of her? However, her heart warmed when she thought about how Lian Jing had been worried about her safety.

After so many years, only a few people truly cared about her. Now, there was Lian Jing.

“I’m going to work. Stay home and behave yourself.” Shen Yin finished her breakfast, patted his head, and ran out of the Lian residence as if fleeing for her life.

When she arrived at the forensics department, Zheng Ling was sitting in front of the computer with a gloomy expression. Her eyelids drooped and she looked listless.

“What’s wrong with you? If you’re not feeling well, go home and rest.” Shen Yin poured her a cup of hot water.

Zheng Ling took a big gulp gratefully before putting the cup back on the table heavily. She looked at Shen Yin with a pleading gaze. “Boss, my head hurts. Please save me.”

Shen Yin sighed, her lungs still stinging. She could not help but frown and mutter softly, “Don’t tell me he really did something…”

“Boss, who are you talking about?” Zheng Ling looked at her curiously.

Shen Yin immediately looked away in a panic and walked out of the forensics department. After thinking about it, she called Lian Jing. She would not be able to calm down until she ascertained what had happened.

But when the call went through, it was quickly disconnected. Shen Yin called a few more times, but it was the same. She could not help feeling a little surprised.

Was he in a meeting?

With that thought, she called Zhong Xin.

In the President’s office on the top floor of the Lian Corporation, a ray of sunshine entered the room through a window, but it stopped abruptly when it reached a certain man who had a dark cloud hovering over him all morning.

Zhong Xin trembled as he held up his cell phone and looked at the President tentatively. “President Lian, Miss Shen is calling again. You’re still not going to pick up? Do you want me to explain to her that you’re busy now?”

“No need,” Lian Jing said coldly. After signing the document in his hand, he threw it at Zhong Xin in frustration. “Can’t you hang up? Is your ringtone that nice?”

“President Lian, Miss Shen will misunderstand.” Zhong Xin broke out in cold sweat. He did not know why his President was throwing a tantrum so early in the morning.
