163 Strange Call
Shen Yin walked out of Team Three’s office and stood in the corridor, her eyes getting colder and colder. “I don’t have a home.”
“Alright, you’ve grown up now, have you? Don’t forget, I’m your father!” The man on the other end of the phone scolded angrily, “Tomorrow is your grandfather’s death anniversary. Come home immediately.”
“I told you, I don’t have a home.” Shen Yin frowned and said emotionlessly, “I’ll be there on Grandpa’s death anniversary, but I don’t want to see you.”
She hung up the phone and her mood sank.
After meeting Shen Luo, she knew that this day would come sooner or later.
She must have gone home and told that man about Shen Yin. Otherwise, she would not need to see that man again in her life.
He was the one who had indirectly caused her mother’s death. After causing her mother to fall out with her family and end up homeless, he had made her lose all hope. He was not worthy of being a father. In her heart, that man was not worthy of living at all.
However, her grandfather had taken good care of her since she was young and raised her. She had no choice but to visit her grandfather’s grave tomorrow. Otherwise, her conscience would be uneasy.
After work, Shen Yin bought some things to pay her respects to her grandfather. Just as she was about to take a taxi home, her heart suddenly skipped a beat. She walked back to the police station and looked at the familiar street not far from the police station. Sure enough, a familiar car had been waiting there for a long time.
When Zhong Xin saw her, he quickly reported to the President, who was on the phone, “President, she’s with me. I’ll send Miss Shen home first.”
Shen Yin looked at him calmly and got into the car without demure. After putting away the things in she was carrying, she looked at Zhong Xin, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, and said coolly, “Please tell Lian Jing that he doesn’t have to pick me up in the future. I can go back myself.”
Zhong Xin smiled bitterly and turned around to look at her. “Miss Shen, you should say tell President Lian that yourself. Otherwise, he’ll definitely skin me alive.”
Shen Yin nodded. She did not make things difficult for him. She leaned against the back seat and closed her eyes to rest.
Through the rearview mirror, Zhong Xin saw that the pile of things she had bought and placed in the backseat included joss paper. He said in surprise, “Miss Shen, are you going to visit a grave?”
“Yes.” Shen Yin nodded. “Tomorrow is my grandfather’s death anniversary.”
Zhong Xin tactfully shut his mouth, but he reported the news he had just learned to Lian Jing.
Just as he had sneakily sent the message, Zhong Xin heard Shen Yin’s cold voice behind him. “Don’t tell Lian Jing.”
He turned around with a smile and said apologetically, “I’m sorry, Miss Shen. I typed too quickly.”
Shen Yin leaned back helplessly. She did not say anything else.
Actually, it did not matter if Lian Jing knew, she just felt that it was better to avoid unnecessary trouble. This was her grandfather’s death anniversary and had nothing to do with Lian Jing. Why waste time letting Lian Jing know?
During dinner that night, Lian Jing had not yet returned. Shen Yin seized the opportunity to make arrangements with Shen Nian. They agreed that she would pick Shen Nian up from school after work tomorrow. The two of them would go to the cemetery to pay their respects to their grandfather.
“Are you scared?” Shen Yin patted Shen Nian’s round head and asked with a smile.
Shen Nian shook his head. “That’s your grandfather. I’m not afraid. I should accompany you.”
Shen Yin could not help but stroke his chubby cheeks. “My Nian Nian is so obedient. Oh right, how was school today? Are you getting used to it?”
Shen Nian ate the food in his bowl and said calmly, “Teacher has already allowed me to skip to the fourth grade.”
Shen Yin looked up in disbelief. “Haven’t you only been in the first grade for a day? The teacher allowed you to advance already?”
“That’s right.” Shen Nian treated it as a matter of fact and did not seem to take any pride in it. “I’ve already said that primary school is too simple. I only jumped to the fourth grade because the teacher wanted to keep me in school for two more years. Otherwise, I could graduate directly.”
Shen Yin was once again shocked by her son’s high IQ. She suddenly wanted to see Lian Jing and ask him if he had such extraordinary experiences when he was young.
After dinner, Shen Yin went to see Grandpa Lian first.
The Old Master looked good. He had recovered after lying down for a few days. According to the butler, the Old Master had strolled around the courtyard for a long time that afternoon. After eating, he felt tired and got back into bed.
Shen Yin finally stopped worrying. After chatting with the Old Master for a while, she returned to her room to rest.
After lying on the bed for a while, she heard footsteps coming from the corridor outside. That person was wearing a pair of exquisitely made leather shoes, and his voice was especially clear and recognizable.
The footsteps paused at the door of Shen Yin’s room. After a while, they walked back to Shen Nian’s room.
Shen Yin heard the sound of the door opening and knew that Lian Jing had entered Shen Nian’s room. She heaved a sigh of relief and continued to hang up on the unknown number that was calling her repeatedly.
For so many years, this man had never cared about her. Now, he suddenly wanted to contact her. He must have found out from Shen Luo that she had a very rich man by her side and wanted to use her to make money.
Shen Yin knew exactly what that family was planning, and she grew even more irritated.
