254 Discovering the Truth
Perhaps when she had seen enough, she could die in peace.
She wanted to bring this secret to the grave. Dong Chang was so gentle and good. She wanted him to have a good life.
In any case, she had been defiled. Why should she drag Dong Chang down with her?
Zhao Wan was determined to die, but she did not show it.
She remembered that the policewoman had said that the evidence could only be collected within twenty-four hours. She forced herself to endure this period and refused to close her eyes to rest.
Once twenty-four hours had passed, Zhao Wan smiled happily. It was as if nothing had happened. She went to the bathroom and washed the dirt off her body, then burned the clothes she had been wearing that day. She put on her favorite dress. After she was certain that no one could identify the the beast, she drank pesticide and committed suicide.
When Dong Chang next saw her, he could only hold her cold corpse.
At this point, he finally broke down in tears and could not continue.
He buried his head in his arms. He was in agony as he curled up in the chair in the interrogation room. Time had passed swiftly, but the love and regret that the teenage boy had experienced had not lessened.
Mother Zhao watched the scene inside the interrogation room through the surveillance camera. She covered her mouth in grief to prevent herself from crying.
Father Zhao sighed and pulled his wife into his arms to comfort her.
Bringing up the past undoubtedly opened up old wounds that they had deliberately buried for more than ten years.
However, the interrogation had not given him too much time to dwell on his past. The law was always cold and dignified. It was mercilessly fair to everyone.
Wu Zheng looked at the man who was crying in front of him and asked in a solemn voice, “Did you know who the perpertrator was then?”
Dong Chang looked up in heart-wrenching pain and slammed the table angrily. “No! I only found out the truth long after Wan Wan died.”
After Wan Wan left, life continued.
Dong Chang had nightmares every night. He dreamed that the little girl in his heart was pleading for help in the darkness.
He swore that he would find the perpertrator, but what could a teenager do about a case that had baffled even the police?
Until one day, when Dong Heng was drunkenly beating his mother again, he accidentally let it slip. Dong Heng boasted to Dong Chang’s mother that he had had a young girl behind her back.
However, when Dong Chang rushed at Dong Heng like a madman and demanded to know who the girl was, Dong Heng came to his senses and hurriedly denied what he had just said.
Dong Chang stared at Dong Heng in shock. Only then did he realize that perhaps the real beast was his father.
He began to scrutinize Dong Heng’s words and actions. He wanted to find evidence, but he found nothing.
He was too young and lived in a backward, rural village. He did not know how the law worked. He only knew that he would demand blood for blood and a life for a life!
When Dong Heng was caught with prostitutes, it was actually a trap set by Dong Chang.
However, he did not expect Dong Heng to be released after being imprisoned for only half a month. He even punished Dong Chang and his mother by taking all their money.
After Dong Heng was released from prison, he continued to drink all day and beat his mother.
Meanwhile, he and his mother’s lives had gone downhill. The villagers began to mock them. The teachers and classmates in school no longer treated him differently because of his outstanding grades. Instead, they often gossiped behind his back that his father was a hooligan.
Dong Chang could tolerate the gossip of others, but he could not tolerate his classmates, who became increasingly violent towards him.
In the end, he became depressed. He did not speak for a few days, and his results plummeted.
All he could think of was how to trap his father and kill him so that he could avenge Zhao Wan.
Later on, his mother moved them to a new place, but he never stopped looking for that bastard until he made a sudden reapparance.
The moment he saw Dong Heng, his overwhelming hatred erupted. A shocking and exciting plan slowly took shape in his heart.
“Why did you kill so many innocent people?” Wu Zheng frowned and asked the question he had been mulling over.
Dong Chang’s eyes widened as anger raged in his eyes. He said angrily, “Because that’s the only way that the d*mn law will sentence him to death! The more people he kills, the graver his crime!”
Dong Chang suddenly thought of something, and a sinister smile appeared on his vengeful face. “I heard that rapists are the most despised in prison. He won’t have a good time inside, right?”
“But everyone else was innocent!” Wu Zheng could not help but say angrily, “I’m a police officer. I shouldn’t say such things, but I still have to ask you, why didn’t you do it yourself and kill him personally!”
“I can’t die!” Dong Chang glared at Wu Zheng innocently. “I still have to find Wan Wan! My Wan Wan is still waiting for me to find her! Oh, right, I’ve already found my Wan Wan. Her name is Shen Yin now.”
