287 Trap
“There are others here, stop fooling around.” Shen Yin gently pushed him away and carefully peeped at the people around the table. She glared fiercely at Lian Jing.
Mo Ru secretly peeped at the two of them, who were stuck together like glue. She suddenly had an idea.
She personally cut a slice of cake and walked over with a smile. “President Lian, why haven’t you gotten a slice of cake? I have to thank you for saving me just now.”
She elegantly walked over. She did not expect Lian Jing to reach out and take the cake. She would not embarrass herself like that.
She placed the plate on the table and looked up at Lian Jing shyly. Then, she explained to Shen Yin, who looked surprised, “I encountered a hooligan downstairs just now. If President Lian hadn’t acted in time, I don’t know what would have happened.”
Shen Yin blinked, feeling surprised. She had faith in Lian Jing’s character, but he just did not seem like the helpful sort. “I’m glad you’re fine. It’s nothing. You don’t have to thank me.”
Mo Ru smiled briefly. Just as she was about to say something, Shang Sheng leaned over pitifully. He wanted to reach out and hug her, but he did not dare. He could only gently nudge her with his shoulder, using the brief contact to satisfy his desire.
But when he bumped into her, Mo Ru was about to turn and now she suddenly fell sideways. She slipped and fell straight towards Lian Jing.
In a flash, Mo Ru subconsciously grabbed Lian Jing’s shirt. She toppled against his chest, barely managing to save herself from falling. However, Lian Jing’s sleeve accidentally brushed against the cake she had placed on the table just now.
Shen Yin was also shocked by her sudden fall. When she recovered her wits, Mo Ru was still leaning against Lian Jing’s chest, sighing with relief.
It looked as if Lian Jing was hugging her. Shen Yin felt uncomfortable, but she knew that Mo Ru had not done it on purpose. She could only ask with concern, “Ms. Mo, are you alright?”
Only then did Mo Ru react. However, she did not let go immediately. Instead, she raised her head slightly and deliberately stared at him pitifully with teary eyes. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to touch you, but I think I sprained my ankle.”
Shang Sheng knew that he was in trouble. He quickly squatted down to check her ankle. Seeing that there was no swelling, he heaved a sigh of relief and said, “Fortunately, it shouldn’t be too serious. Let me help you sit down.”
His brother’s face was as cold as ice. He was afraid that if Mo Ru did not let go, his brother would chop off both her hands and hold him accountable.
Mo Ru nodded and finally let go. However, the moment Shang Sheng touched her shoulder, she suddenly saw something and screamed, “Oh no, how could I dirty President Lian’s shirt? Take it off and let me clean it for you.”
“No need.” Lian Jing’s face was cold as he looked at Shen Yin with his dark eyes. “I’m going to the washroom. Wait for me here. Don’t run around.”
“Why don’t I go with you?” Shen Yin felt that Lian Jing might be angry and wanted to follow him out.
However, Lian Jing was in an extremely bad mood. He took off his coat and placed it over his arm. “No need. You just stay here. Don’t run around in an entertainment venue.”
“Alright.” He refused to let her follow him, so Shen Yin was forced to stay there obediently.
Shang Sheng had already helped Mo Ru sit down on the sofa, but she looked at Lian Jing’s departing figure uneasily and smiled guiltily at Shen Yin. “I’m sorry. It’s all my fault.”
Shen Yin hurriedly shook her head and sat down beside her. She looked down at her ankle and smiled calmly. “It’s alright. You don’t have to apologize. Is your ankle alright?”
Mo Ru smiled in relief. “It doesn’t hurt that much anymore. I just need to rest for a while.”
In order to comfort her and create an opportunity for Shang Sheng, Lian Meng teased with a smile, “It’s fine. If you can’t walk, let Shang Sheng send you back.”
“That’s right, that’s right. I would be delighted to do so.” Shang Sheng hurriedly nodded to show his sincerity.
“Thank you.” Mo Ru thanked them gratefully. She glanced in the direction of the door and advised softly, “Why don’t you go out and check on President Lian? I think he didn’t seem too happy just now.”
Shen Yin thought so too. Perhaps it was better for her to go out and check on him.
After making up her mind, Shen Yin no longer hesitated. She nodded and got up to look for Lian Jing.
In the private room next door, Cheng Huo received a message. His eyes were deep and dark. “Sister, Shen Yin has left. I’ll go see her.”
“Okay, go ahead. But don’t get into a direct conflict with Lian Jing.” Cheng Mu sighed. Perhaps today’s events would make her brother give up.
Shen Yin often got lost in corridors. Just as she was looking for the washroom, an arm suddenly reached out from behind her and trapped her in the narrow space. A familiar hoarse male voice sounded from above her head. “Yin Yin, it’s been a long time.”
