303 The Truth Is Out
Shen Yin withdrew her hand and ignored him.
Lian Jing chuckled and poked her arm. “Alright, Yin Yin, I have something for you.”
“What?” Shen Yin turned to look at him curiously and saw him suddenly take a platimum credit card from the drawer and stuff it into her hand. “What’s this?”
Lian Jing took off his jacket and said nonchalantly, “This is all the assets I’ve accumulated since I took over the Lian Corporation.”
Shen Yin almost dropped the card, as if scalded. “Then why are you giving it to me? I’m always losing things. I can’t afford to pay you back if I lose it.”
Lian Jing slowly undid his tie and threw it aside. Then, he pulled the silly woman into his arms. “If you lose it, you’ll be my slave for the rest of your life. You’ll pay with your body.”
“No!” Shen Yin did not want that kind of responsibility. Besides, she did not want the Lian family’s money. “You should keep it for yourself. I can’t take this bank card.”
“You must.”
After the recent incident, he realized that the most stable relationship in the world was one that was mutually beneficially. If relationships were too fragile and unreliable, then they must be maintained with money.
He would give her everything he had, turning it into thousands of shackles that bound her to him for the rest of her life.
He put the bank card into her pocket and whispered hoarsely in her ear, “The password is my birthday. You know, you can withdraw the money and place it in your own account, or you can use it directly to pay your bills. This represents my sincerity in wanting to be with you.”
“You…” She did not expect this man to do such a thing. After experiencing a failed marriage, she thought that as long as a woman was self-reliant, she did not need a man’s money. However, when a man was really willing to give her everything, she realized that deep down, she actually yearned for a love and trust that she could whole-heartedly rely on.
“Lian Jing…” She could not help but reach out and caress his handsome face. She allowed his lips to gradually approach hers. All she could see was his incredible gentleness.
“Dad! Mom! Are you guys still fighting? I have something to tell you!”
The knock on the door interrupted the romantic atmosphere in the room. Lian Jing suppressed his anger and lowered his head to kiss Shen Yin’s lips quickly. Then, he opened the door unhappily.
Outside, Shen Nian excitedly raised his tablet and was about to share the surprise he had discovered when he was caught off guard by his father’s stern look. He immediately realized something was amiss. He hurriedly took backed away in embarrassment until he hit the cold wall. He could not retreat anymore and smiled obsequiously. “Dad, I didn’t do it on purpose. I will disappear immediately.”
“What’s wrong?” Shen Yin pushed at Lian Jing, who was blocking the door. She frowned and looked at her son, who was leaning against the wall and trembling. She walked to his side worriedly. “Did you catch a cold? Why do you look so pale?”
Shen Nian closed his eyes helplessly and silently begged his mother to turn and see his father’s murderous expression. “No, nothing. I suddenly remembered that I have homework to finish. I’ll go back.”
“Stop right there.” Lian Jing stared coldly at his fleeing back. “I’ll give you one minute to finish what you want to say.”
“Okay!” Shen Nian felt as if he had granted a reprieve. He quickly turned and respectfully used both hands to hand over the information he had found. “Dad, I’ve just investigated the culprit who caused the conflict between the two of you. I’ve traced her movements and realized that she actually knows the Cheng siblings.”
Lian Jing suddenly frowned and snatched the computer from his hand to take a closer look. His eyes narrowed. “I see. The Cheng family. Very well. I’ll teach them the price of offending the Lian family!”
Shen Yin was also looking at the information on the screen. Shen Yin had suspected that Mo Ru’s appearance was too much of a coincidence, but this explained everything.
From the beginning, Mo Ru had purposely tried to get close to Lian Jing. What happened that night was also deliberately precipitated by her. She had used Sui Ran and Shang Sheng to attend the welcome party.
However, she did not want Lian Jing to make things difficult for them. Even if their motives were not pure, she and Lian Jing had quarreled because they did not trust each other enough.
Shen Yin let out a long sigh. Thinking of Cheng Luo’s good intentions in trying to help Cheng Huo, and the relationship between Cheng Mu and her own son, she bit her lower lip and gathered her wits. She held his arm coquettishly and leaned against him. “Lian Jing, promise me not to target the Cheng family, okay? Actually, I should thank them. If not for them, we wouldn’t have such a good opportunity to test each other. I believe that after this incident, we will trust each other more and won’t suspect each other anymore, right?”
