Chapter 41: Keep your mouth shut!
There was no way Bai Zhou could let Ye Qiantong get too far. He swiftly placed his left hand under the table.
With a quick “slap,” he grabbed that mischievous little foot.
Ye Qiantong’s body clearly trembled slightly.
Bai Zhou, with a sly smile on his lips, gave her foot a sharp tickle.
“Mm—” Ye Qiantong immediately covered her mouth, desperately trying to hold back her laughter. But her trembling body and muffled sounds drew the attention of the others.
Li Ru, sitting across from her, noticed it most clearly and asked curiously:
“Sister-in-law, what’s wrong?”
“N-nothing …” Ye Qiantong quickly freed her foot from Bai Zhou’s grasp.
Frowning, she stood up and said: “I think I just bit into a stone.”
She had to act the part completely. She quickly rushed out of the dining room.
Her reaction was so natural, even Bai Zhou couldn’t help but give her a thumbs-up in his mind.
Everyone else believed her, especially Li Tai, who frowned and said: “Tell the housekeeper later, we’re not buying rice from that supplier anymore.”
Because of Ye Qiantong’s mischief, they lost a big business deal!
After this little episode, Ye Qiantong behaved herself for the rest of the meal. Though there were still some minor actions, they weren’t as excessive.
Could this be considered a victory for Bai Zhou in his “battle” with Ye Qiantong? Thinking about it made him a little excited.
After lunch, Li Tai gave Bai Zhou his task for the afternoon: “Go to Yulong Group and bring back our share of the dividends for this year.”

For someone like Li Tai, taking a share of profits from companies or corporations was basically the same thing, wasn’t it?
As soon as Bai Zhou stepped out of the villa, he saw his car already parked at the entrance, with an underling grinning and waiting by it.
The underling eagerly stepped forward and said: “Brother Zhou, the boss arranged for me to accompany you to Yulong Group and drive for you!”
Bai Zhou nodded without any visible reaction and got into the front passenger seat.
The underling happily hopped into the driver’s seat and started the car, acting as Bai Zhou’s chauffeur.
Bai Zhou wasn’t surprised that Li Tai had arranged for someone to accompany him. After all, this was the first time Li Tai had involved him in the “business.” Of course, someone had to come along to keep an eye on him!
Bai Zhou, knowing the plot from the original novel, was fully aware of Li Tai’s methods. Whenever Li Tai sent someone on their first business mission, he would always have someone tag along.
This person would carry a small device, like a body camera, that could instantly transmit video back to Li Tai.
That’s right, it was that sneaky. This was also Li Tai’s way of evaluating his subordinates. It was done so discreetly that most people didn’t know about it during their first mission. As a result, many who went on their first job would either be reassigned to some unknown place afterward or simply disappear from the face of the earth entirely.
This method kept Li Tai’s subordinates on edge.
And it had proven to be quite effective.
Unfortunately for Li Tai, Bai Zhou knew the story well and understood everything.
As they drove, the underling grinned and asked: “Brother Zhou, this is my first time being sent by the boss on a job like this. What should we do?”
Bai Zhou found it amusing.
Of course, Bai Zhou didn’t say this out loud.
He turned slightly to look at the underling behind the wheel, his tone cold and slightly menacing: “Let me teach you the first thing you need to know!”
“Hm?” The underling was taken aback.
Just as Bai Zhou thought, this wasn’t the underling’s first time doing this kind of job. He had shadowed at least five or ten people before. He knew that Bai Zhou was the one who was really doing this for the first time.
And yet, here Bai Zhou was, saying, “Let me teach you”?
The underling’s eyes briefly flashed with a cold smile as he thought to himself:
On the surface, though, he kept smiling and said: “Sure, Brother Zhou. I’m all ears.”
Bai Zhou, still with that cold, detached tone, said: “Lesson one: keep your mouth shut.”
The same words echoed inside Li Tai’s villa.
In the living room, there were only three people: Li Tai, his young wife Ye Qiantong, and his son Li Yonggang.
“This Bai Zhou …” Li Tai’s voice carried a hint of amusement.
But Li Yonggang suddenly jumped up from the sofa, excitedly pointing at the screen in front of him, shouting: “Just like that!”
Then, standing up straight, he cleared his throat and mimicked Bai Zhou’s manner: “Keep your mouth shut!”
He then eagerly turned to his stepmother and asked: “Stepmom, did I do it right?”
Ye Qiantong smiled and nodded: “Just like him!”
