Conspiracy (5)
A cruel smile slowly began to spread around Carolina’s mouth.
“However, if the two particular things were combined, they would then become poison.”
“Well, then… Is that girl going to die?”
“You can’t just leave the Royal shame all alone.”
Lenoff answered Erita’s question in a languid tone. Then, a light of joy quickly spread across Erita’s face.
However, Erita soon recalled something and queried with her eyes wide open.
“But if that did happen, won’t we get in trouble then? If the girl died over here, anyone would think that it was our fault.”
“You actually managed to think about that part.”
Lenoff smiled and opened his mouth as if he was proud.
“But there is nothing to worry about. The poison doesn’t really work until quite a few days later. She’ll probably have a seizure on her way out of Rakain and back to Seroif.”
After she had a total of three seizures, they had been told that there was no way anyone could save her—even if she had an excellent doctor anyway.
It would have taken the time of day from the first attack right to the second one. And it would take half a day for the second seizure to make it to the third.
‘Will she be able to survive within that time?’
It would have been almost impossible. According to the calculations, Roelin would be having her first seizure as soon as she crossed the border of Rakain and entered the rugged Samalta Mountains.
That would leave only one and a half days until the third seizure. It was less than two days.
Only, during that time, they wouldn’t be able to get out of the mountain range. Therefore, all that remained of the cheeky girl was merely to die while vomiting blood within the rugged mountains as well as struggling with the pain of having her guts being melted all inside her stomach.
“But what if she’s lucky enough to detoxify herself? So if she survives, won’t we be at a disadvantage then?”
Erita made up another kind of situation. On the other hand, it was rather funny that she, who was only interested in colorful clothes and jewelry as per usual, would show such an extraordinary interest in dealing with her twin sister.
Lenoff smiled quietly and returned the answer to her question.
“That’s why I’m planning on sending an assassin to make it all perfect.”
“Ah…”
Erita’s mouth was immediately filled with laughter. Then, she smiled softly before she finally opened her mouth as if she was feeling relieved.
“There must be no other place to run or escape.”
Being poisoned to death or getting killed by an assassin. Either way, there was only one conclusion left.
“I should have already done that before. I left ‘it’ alive for no apparent reason and it became the Royal Family’s disgrace……”
Carolina leaned back and muttered to herself. Finally, she was able to remove the filth that had been intervening in her very perfect life.
She looked so relieved even though she knew well that both herself and her son had planned for a death—in fact, it had been the death of her own daughter that was being scheduled.
Lenoff and Erita soon came into Carolina’s eyes. They had been her son and daughter. These two were the only children whom she had.
‘That kind of an ominous being had never been my child at all.’
Carolina had never once recognized Roelin as her daughter. On top of that, the daughter was never treated as a person, let alone as a real daughter.
An existence that went against the providence itself.
One birth. One soul.
However, since there had been two bodies, this was never the right thing to do. And Carolina was absolutely furious that the very thing had happened to her.
Such shortcomings were unacceptable to her, who was very arrogant and egoistic.
Nevertheless, how lamentable it was that it could not be eliminated before.
‘Now, I’m finally able to relieve my grudge.’
“There should never be a mistake at all. She shouldn’t be left alive.”
“Don’t worry, Mother. Even if the Emperor did come here, there was no way of turning back.”
Lenoff smiled deviously at Carolina’s request. Failure was utterly impossible since the ‘Monster Emperor’ had already been separated and fully prepared.
He arched his eyes with such conviction.
Now, all he had to do was just wait.

“Everyone must’ve had a hard time because of me.”
Roelin opened her mouth with a clear apologetic expression. Lucy smiled and shook her head as she patted her hair softly.
“There’s no need to feel sorry at all. That’s the reason why everyone traveled anyway.”
“What do you mean, traveled? It wasn’t a comfortable journey like that.”
They did not just move around within the Empire, but they even went to another country. Moreover, they had to pass through the rugged Samalta Mountains as well.
And most of all, the fatigue that they felt must have been quite severe since they had to fulfill their duty of keeping the Empress safe and sound.
Roelin thought for a moment and asked Lucy.
“I’d like to thank you all separately later.”
“What do you mean by thanking us?”
“I just wished to give everyone a simple present. Snacks that they can eat after training or…… well, something like that.”
It would have been better to just give a simple gift because it would be over the top to do something else instead. Roelin thought so and asked for Lucy’s opinion.
“Will that be okay? Well, if possible, I’d like to give presents to the knights as well as the soldiers who had left the subjugation with Kergel this time too.”
Lucy instantly widened her eyes at Roelin’s words before answering with nothing at all. Then, Roelin sneaked up and asked the next question carefully.
“Are we running out of money? Then, I’d like to ask if I can get the budget that has been allocated in advance and use that instead……”
Much of the Empress’s budget had already been used for the restoration of the affected village and the treatment of survivors. Roelin appeared awkward as she recalled that fact.
